In the dining room everyone was laughing and chatting, asking about Alexa's stay at the boarding school, until an interesting question arrived from the least expected person.
Tell me dear, do you have a boyfriend?
Alexa was drinking a juice when Romina asked the question; making her, surprised, spit out the juice, and so she immediately felt embarrassed for what she just did. However, as she was about to answer the question, the housekeeper interrupted, indicating that a young man was asking for her.
Marco tensed his jaw, thinking it was her boyfriend.
Just as she was about to ask who it was, the voice of a young man was heard, greeting everyone in a cordial manner.
Good afternoon, my name is Luke Simonds, it's an honor to meet my princess's family.
After introducing himself, Alexa was annoyed but still disguised it and said, __ Luke, I didn't know you were coming.
To which he immediately replied, if you go around the world, I'll follow you. He said it with a smile, however, when he noticed the presence of Marco, his attitude changed and he looked at him with a challenging stare.
However, Marco felt strange about his attitude towards him but he disguised the uncomfortable moment he had just gone through. Alexa glanced at Marco out of the corner of her eye and, seeing that he was not reacting to anything, she assumed that he did not remember what had happened the night before, which made her sad.
Luke, on the other hand, was furious to see "the old man," as he usually called him, with his future girlfriend's family.
So, to put Alexa on the spot in front of him, he proceeded and said, Amber gave me your address, why didn't you tell me you were coming back? You know I would've come back with you.
Alexa was already fuming about the situation. Just as she was about to lash out at him, Romina's voice again drew everyone's attention. Something about the young man had caught her eye until she discovered why. So, without beating around the bush, she asked, you're Simonds's son, right?
That's right, replied Luke, without the slightest idea why she was asking him.
Romina eyed him up and down, a bit uncomfortable, since she knew that this boy's father had caused trouble for Alexander and, to top it off, had taken over his company. She had only one thing in her head, "how in the hell is this kid around my baby".
I hope this young man is not your boyfriend. I honestly don't like him for you, Romina said, downplaying whatever response the boy would give.
Mariana and Samantha were surprised to hear Romina's comment. They didn't understand why she had said such a thing, especially knowing her. They knew very well that she wasn't one to make unwarranted accusations, but they didn't say anything, waiting for Alexa to introduce the boy and confirm whether he was her boyfriend or not. What could they say, Alexa was someone they trusted implicitly and they knew she wouldn't make any bad decisions. Besides, she was about to turn of age, so she had the option of choosing whoever she wanted as her boyfriend.
Alexa looked at Romina and immediately replied, Luke is not my boyfriend, he's just a friend. Even though he always jokes around like this, he knows I only see him as a good friend.
Hannah smiled at her response, because when she saw the handsome young man, she was struck by his challenging gaze. In this gathering, she was the only one who was aware of everything, so she was just waiting to see how this love triangle would unfold. She assumed that the two of them would fight over her friend. She was a huge fan of romance and loved novels, and right now she felt like she was living inside one as a spectator.
Lucio and Marco looked at each other rather annoyed when they found out whose son this was.
As Marco looked at the young man, he was reminded of the past and why he and Lucio had decided to keep quiet. __ None of them mentioned anything to Mariana when Alexander's problems occurred; they preferred to remain silent, as they didn't want to cause her any more pain than she was already experiencing. That's why they decided to take care of everything together, even to pay off the debts they were sure Alexander didn't even know about. But that damned Simonds had caused trouble for Alexander, and that's something they would never forgive.
Marco immediately stood up and excused himself, saying he had a meeting. As he passed by Alexa, he didn't even look at her. That boy was making him extremely uncomfortable knowing whose son he was and especially seeing him near Alexa, and it put him in a bad mood.
Alexa felt sad as she realized that when Marco left, he hadn't even looked at her.
No one noticed how she felt, except Romina, who did notice. (She said to herself, I recognize that look. Little girl, why have you set your sights on my son? He's incapable of loving.) Sighing, she excused Marco and stayed next to Marcelo while Luke sat next to them.
He invited himself but they still accepted him in a very friendly manner, as Alexa claimed he was just a friend. Only Romina and Lucio were a bit tense, but Alexa's good mood had disappeared with Marco's departure. She wondered what she could have done to offend him. In all the years she had known him, he had never neglected her but this time he just ignored her entirely.
Marco, on the other hand, called the private investigator he was working with and closely monitoring the case. After an hour, the man arrived and gave him the information he had been waiting for.
Seeing the folder and the photos inside, he tensed his jaw and through gritted teeth he said, I knew it, that damned rat has showed up.
Sir, that's not all. It seems he had kept a low profile but something made him come out of hiding, the detective reported.
It wasn't something, I'm certain it was someone and it seems, this time, I will have the upper hand, because I have a hunch he doesn't know where his Junior has ended up. I will make him pay dearly for what he did.
What are you talking about?
His son made him resurface and now I want you to investigate that kid right away. I want to know even what time he goes to the bathroom. Did you understand? I want to know everything.
When do you want my report?
Get me everything as soon as possible. You're wasting too much time giving me this. I hired you because they said you were the best, but you're disappointing me.
