This Human Turns Out to Be My Luna

This Human Turns Out to Be My Luna

Episode 1

My name is Noah, and I am at the peak of my 200 years. Yes, it seems like many years, but my people usually live up to 3,000 years. And in my case, being the Alpha King, if I had found my destined mate, I would have eternal life. Not that having so many years of life or eternal life meant we couldn't be killed, but it was rare due to our power. Generally, wolves find their mates, the other half of their souls, by the age of 25 at the latest, but the moon goddess Serena did not grace me with such a blessing. I look at humans and see how men treat their women; they don't respect them, they don't venerate them. Among my people, your woman is the most precious part of your soul. Serena, when she created us, divided our souls in two, since initially, our soul was complete, it had both feminine and masculine. However, in the beginning of time, my people ended up turning against weaker races, so Serena, in her supreme wisdom, decided that our power should be divided into two bodies. This way, we could control ourselves better and would be complete when we found our other half. As much as I envy humans in some ways, I also feel sorry for them because they will never know the feeling of finding their purest and truest love. But I think that's what makes me blend in with them; after all, in that regard, I am as fragile as they are.

Oh, another thing, it seems strange, but our species generally stops aging as soon as we meet our other half, which I find strange since I should be full of wrinkles. But at 25, I stopped aging. The millennial anxieties couldn't tell me why. Well, I'm happy my death is near, but I will die looking young. My parents look younger than I do since my mother was 20 years old and my father 23 when they met.

This must be the sixth time I've transported myself to the human world. From time to time, I like to come and enroll in some college. I already know everything I'm going to study; after all, in my world, technology is 10 times more advanced, and colleges have professors from other eras and other planets. Yes, time travel is possible there, but only for study purposes; we cannot alter events.

Although I don't agree with many things about humans, I really enjoy living among them. Sometimes some aggressive men tend to disappear mysteriously during my time on Earth, but it's purely coincidental, or not (laughs).

I have so much wealth that I wouldn't be able to spend it all even if I had a sealed mate bond, so I like to help humans. My world reigns in absolute peace; there is no hunger or poverty. Doors are always open; there have been no threats since before the Elder Council was formed. By the way, they are the last 10 warriors. They are very respected; after all, they were the only ones of my people who saw Serena personally and received the Moon Seal.

It's almost 6 p.m. now, and I'm walking through Central Park. I notice an old woman sitting on a piece of cardboard, shivering with cold, along with a stray dog and a cat. I observe that, even though she is hungry, she takes a small piece of bread and divides it between her animals. I continue on my way and find one of those food trucks selling hamburgers. I buy two hamburgers, two fries, and two sodas. I go back and greet the lady and ask if I can sit with her and if she's hungry. She thanks me, and her eyes shine. What breaks my heart the most is that she tries to get up from the cardboard so I can sit without getting my clothes dirty. But finally, I convince her that she doesn't need to. After all, she thanks me and tells me that her greatest joy was that I stopped to talk to her because it had been a long time since anyone had treated her like a real human being. I feel a lump forming in my throat. I was perplexed at how a race could be so indifferent to the suffering of its own kind. I said goodbye to her and gave her a lottery ticket. Well, it was enchanted by my most trusted witches. It may seem like cheating, but aren't all these games rigged? After all, they were stealing from their players.

When I'm far away, I can hear the old lady's cries of joy and her calling me, but I simply disappear and reappear in my house, which I've kept here since I was 16, when I learned to teleport between worlds. I go down the stairs, and Mary lets out a scream. I confess, I always find it funny.

... Mary...

Mr. Darkmor, I'll never get used to you. You always arrive so silently that I never see you coming.

*Noah*

Hello, Mary. How are you? Come give me a hug; I've missed you so much.

She comes towards me, and I lift her as if she weighed nothing and spin her around, holding her close. My heart aches; I know one day I will lose her. She's been working for me for about five years now; otherwise, how would I explain that I don't age?

Mary

Oh, so strong. Sometimes I think you're not even human, you know? And look at that face, it never changes.

She was a 52-year-old woman, so young to me, and at the same time, I had to pretend she was older. If there was a spell, I would certainly give immortality to Mary. No employee has stayed with me as long as she has; they were all gossips. Not Mary, she cared for me like a mother. My parents were great parents, but they didn't have her warmth.

Noah

Mary, my love, what's good to eat?

Mary

I'm going to make that pressure-cooked meat you love, dear.

See, I could die here on Earth. Well, that's what I'm going to do. I will let my parents know that I will spend what time I have left here on Earth.
