Episode 7

Leonel

I prepared everything for Mag's trip, but I am very worried because she will have to make the trip alone. My heart aches for the separation and worry about what she will have to face. I know I trained her well and even was rude, so that she focuses on her strength and skills, rather than emotions.

My mate, Elza, is terrified. She tries to hide to cry, thinking that I don't notice, but it would be impossible not to notice those beautiful, swollen eyes. The only calm one was Daniel, who seemed not to care about anything, everything seemed normal to him.

"What's wrong, dad?" he asked, noticing my concern.

"You seem very worried and that's not good for Mag. She is strong and will succeed, you'll see."

"The Alpha is right in choosing you, you're very smart, son."

After that conversation, I tried to calm myself down, giving more credit to my daughter, who is a queen and the universe will guide her.

Mag

That coconut tree, the big bad wolf of the poor, thinks it can fool me. He kissed me without asking permission, that thief of innocent maiden's kisses, he will pay for it. Sorry guys, I'm just stressed. Okay, the first one was stolen, but the second one was given. You know why? I saw that witch Deborah coming up behind him and wanted to get back at her.

I'm human, guys! And a wolf too, of course. But I couldn't resist provoking her. I just didn't expect to like it. I had never kissed before and it didn't matter that he rejected me, I didn't reject him, I liked it and I liked it a lot.

If he took advantage, I took even more, until the witch arrived and made a scene. I just turned around and left quietly, like I said, I have better things to do.

I couldn't even enjoy the mall properly!

Where I'm going, there is no mall. I wanted to enjoy more, but those two ruined my day. I had to settle for an ovomaltine milkshake at the kiosk by the mall exit. Ugh! I'm so ready to travel already, otherwise they'll send me to a mental institution for saying "ugh" so much.

I arrive home and my mother is waiting for me, pacing back and forth rubbing her hands.

"What's wrong, mom?"

She got startled, I guess she was so nervous she didn't notice me enter.

"Oh, daughter, I'm glad you're here!"

She came towards me and held onto my shoulders.

"We need to talk, you need to know the reality of the place you want to go."

"Mom, calm down, dad already talked to me."

She pulled me to the side, still not letting go of my shoulders, and we sat on the couch.

"I want your brother to go with you, to protect you."

She really has no idea of the son she has, and even less of the daughter.

"If David goes with me, I'll have to protect him. Besides, I'm flying, there's no danger."

"Do you see? Your father didn't tell you everything," she said, even more frightened.

"What didn't he tell me, mom? Just tell me."

She took two deep breaths to calm herself down, sat up straight, facing me, and held my hands.

"I lived my entire childhood and adolescence in that place, only when I turned eighteen did your father arrive and bring me to civilization."

"You talk as if it's a savage place."

"And it is, daughter. It's a Pack completely hidden from others and from civilization. Not even the Alpha knows where it is."

"My dad explained that to me and I thought it was great, that way nobody can find me. Besides, if I'm their destined one, the path will show itself to me."

"That's why I'm so worried about you and your safety. To get there, you are tested to prove that you are worthy of meeting the red bloods."

"Tested or not, I will succeed."

"You will have to find the way on your own. Your father got there after getting lost in the snow. We can only give you directions, the rest is up to you. You'll have to follow without getting lost, through a wild path with wild animals, hunting and sleeping outdoors. There are no stores, restaurants, not even houses or people in that region. Oh, my goodness! My little girl lost in that savage place, I can't bear it!"

She looks desperate, even. I watch silently. I can't believe she's so worried. She never really cared about me. Never paid attention to whether I was eating, sleeping, studying, or even congratulated me on my birthday. How did she suddenly decide to care?

"I don't understand, mom? You never gave me much attention or cared about me, so why are you having this whole freak out now?"

"Oh, dear, don't talk like that, my concern is real."

"Mom, you didn't even want to see my wolf..."

"Fear, girl, just fear. I always believed that one day you would go to our people, and since you were little, I kept my distance because I knew that one day you would leave and have to face all the things you'll face now."

"Are you telling me that I suffered because of your lack of care all these years just because YOU didn't want to suffer? Do you understand how all of this sounds to me like pure selfishness and lack of love?"

"I'm sorry, daughter, but in my defense, I confess that I couldn't stand life in your grandmother's Pack. If your father hadn't shown up, I think I would already be dead. I can't imagine you going through all the hardships of that place."

The spoiled girl spoke louder than her mother. Because she didn't like or tolerate living there, she assumed I wouldn't either.

"That's not a reason not to take care of me here, mom. You know what? I won't say anything more, you can keep your tantrums to yourself, I don't want to know, excuse me."

I stood up and marched to my room, throwing myself on the bed facing up and looking at the "pink" ceiling. I began to analyze my life and imagine what was to come. I won't let my mother's worries make me lose faith in myself. I will follow my destiny, it's the only opportunity to prove that I am capable and shut the mouths of gossips.

I am a warrior, a winner, and a special wolf. Nothing will defeat me.
