The lights went out and only one spotlight remained on the stage. The alpha picked up the microphone and announced that he would begin the ceremony to pass the alpha status to his son. They transformed and their magnificent wolves took over. They performed a scene and Jonathan bit his father's neck, thus receiving the transfer of alpha authority.
When the alpha passed the status, it was strange. I don't know what they did, but a mist came out of the older one and entered the younger one, who immediately grew larger and stronger, becoming the leader of the Silver Moon Wolf Pack.
My parents were excited because David would take over my father's position and they could go on a new honeymoon, even though that didn't exist for wolves. My mother was eager for everything to happen so she could boast.
Everyone was on edge. The new alpha howled and returned to his human form, still dressed. It seems his wolf also has magic, like Rose. He announced his collaborators: as the direct beta, he called Luis, which was a surprise, but the biggest one was yet to come. Instead of appointing David to my father's position, he kept my father in charge until Daniel, my younger brother, was ready to take his place.
I looked for David and saw him running out the door in his lupine form. Point for the new alpha, he showed to be more mature than I imagined. Suddenly, he lifted his face, inhaling the air forcefully.
"Roses! Roses and blood perfume!" he exclaimed.
When I looked back at the stage, he was looking at me with a furrowed brow, jumped off the stage, and came to me. I felt his scent, eucalyptus in the snow.
"My mate!"
"My mate!"
He smiled, took my hand, and we climbed onto the stage. He grabbed the microphone and announced:
"Mag, daughter of my beta Leonel, is my mate. We have known each other since we were children and because I don't see her as a fully grown female yet, I will wait for her to mature a little more, away from the Wolf Pack. Only then, we will mate and I will make her my Luna."
The moment he said we wouldn't unite at that moment and that he would separate me from the Wolf Pack, I felt a deep pain in my heart. It was Rose, taking all the impact of that rejection.
"Do you understand, Mag? I'm not rejecting you, I'm just postponing our mating. Do you understand?" he asked, not realizing that he had already rejected me.
I nodded, agreeing. He gave me a paternal kiss on the forehead and authorized the party to continue. I let go of his hand, turned my back, and descended from that place of humiliation.
I went to the table where my mother was with tears in her eyes. My father followed behind me.
"I'm sorry, daughter," my father said, holding onto my shoulders.
"It's okay, dad. If you don't mind, I would like to go to Grandma's Wolf Pack," I pleaded.
"Do you want to stay with my mother? But why? You can't leave the alpha alone now," my mother seemed out of her mind and clueless.
"Mom! Snap out of it. He was the one who told me to leave the Wolf Pack," I explained, hoping she would understand.
"Yes, dear, it's better for her to stay there for a while. It will be good for her," my father said to my mother. "Who knows, maybe David will also go there. He can train there and become stronger, maybe the alpha will change his mind?"
"No way I'm going there with David in tow, to disturb me there too. Not happening," I expressed my opinion with emphasis.
"Don't be selfish, my daughter, think that your brother was also rejected," my father said.
"But he found his mate, I don't think he would want to go now," I said.
"He was also rejected by her, daughter," my father confirmed, which I had already suspected.
"Stop saying that the alpha rejected our daughter, he just asked for time because she is too young," my mother complained.
"Some people have eyes but don't want to see. Mom, let's just drop it, okay? I'm going home. 'My mate' is already enjoying his freedom. I'm leaving now," I said, looking at the dance floor, where Jonathan was dancing with Deborah, grinding on her shamelessly.
"I'll go with you, daughter, we need to talk," my father said.
"I will wait and come back with Daniel, who is very happy," my mother said, saving some of her joy.
"Okay, mom, good night," I said goodbye, giving her a kiss on the cheek, but she didn't pay any attention.
My father and I left and started walking. Instead of going home, we took the path through the forest.
"I haven't forgotten, my little wolf. Even though you didn't share the moment with your old man, you won't escape from me now. I want to meet your Loba," he said, even though he didn't bother to accompany me during the transformation.
I stopped walking and he also stopped, facing me.
"What's wrong, my daughter? Did you not succeed?" he asked, worried.
"I succeeded, dad, but she's very different from everyone here. I'm afraid they'll reject me. Even the alpha, if he saw me, would have rejected me right away instead of saying he would wait."
"I need to see it first, daughter. Let's go deeper into the forest," he said, serious, as if he was keeping a secret.
We arrived at a clearing deep in the forest and he stopped, waiting. I called Rose and she took over. This time it didn't hurt as much, it was smoother, and she stood proudly.
"What a beautiful wolf! You're an alpha, my daughter. What's your name, proud Wolf?"
"Rose, my name is Rose," she replied mentally, using our lupine connection.
"You're beautiful, Rose! It's a true pleasure to meet you, queen," my father paid us homage and I was amazed.
"Happy birthday, my daughter. You couldn't have had a better gift. You can turn back to human form, and I'll tell you a story on the way home."
Yeah, I think he'll have a good story to tell me. Hopefully, it will finally explain why I'm so different and why even my mother rejects me. I really need this explanation, so I don't feel ashamed of who I am, because I'm very different from everyone here. My loba looks more like a fox than a wolf.
"I heard that, you know. Did you hear him say we're queens?"
