Episode 2

I arrived home well after David, all sore and with a black eye. I opened the door and the whole family was gathered in the living room, looking at me in astonishment, unsure if it was because of my condition or the delay in my arrival.

"Daughter, what happened to you? Your brother said you got involved in a fight and ended up getting punched in the face?" My mother always believing everything my brother says.

"Well, mom, it wasn't a fight, it was just David being an idiot as always. This time he was thrilled to punch me in the eye in front of everyone and be the hero of the week. Poor thing, when he finds his mate, I hope she rejects him." I cursed him again, hoping it would come true.

He came towards me, but my father stepped in front of me.

"Looks like one punch wasn't enough, huh?" he said, all puffed up.

"Idiot, idiot, idiot! You only hit me because of my bad luck," I said and ran.

I ran to my room, even forgetting about my hunger, but I need to rest to heal the wounds because I haven't had my transformation yet and it takes me longer to heal. I entered my intolerably pink room. I asked for red and my mother decided to put pink. It's so irritating, I never manage to have my wishes fulfilled. I went to the bathroom and took a shower, then I got out and put on one of the few shorts I have. My father wants me to wear girls' clothes, a dress or skirt and blouse. I don't know why they insist on that.

When I finished dressing, my mom entered the room with a tray.

"Eat, honey. I know you prefer to rest and heal quickly, but you need to eat for that," she said, looking like a caring and doting mother.

"Thank you, mom," I said, grateful that she took the trouble to bring me food.

She leaves the room and I wonder if the idea to bring the tray was her own. She is a good mother, but very distant from me. Always giving preference to my brothers. To the point of having only three steaks and she asks me not to eat so there's enough for them, the males. Ugh!

Christmas presents? Theirs were always cool robots, remote control cars, video games, and for me, it was a gray checkered fabric, a plastic doll, a horrible hairpin. Ugh!

Our house is nice, my father is one of the alpha's betas, responsible for security. When the alpha passes on the title to his son, David is supposed to take over my father's position. Poor Alpha, with that idiot.

My father is very sexist, for him, it's the woman who takes care of the house and cooks. So, there are days when I have to clean the bathroom that they dirty, and I've received epic scoldings because of their pubes on the floor. But I can't see, and I'm anxious for my transformation because then, I will have good eyesight and won't need to wear these horrible glasses, which are now broken.

I don't understand why it's like this! Everything is on me! Everything is on me! Everything is on me!

I lie down to rest after eating the natural food my mother brought, not a single piece of meat because surely the males ate it all. As if that wasn't enough, the handsome one comes to ask for help to flirt with Denise. I like her, but she's eclectic, has many friends, and doesn't commit to anyone. Great friend!

When I woke up, it was already night and I put on my training clothes, jumped out the window, and went to meet my father in the forest reserved for the Pack. My father was already waiting for me. Despite being sexist, he always invited me to train, I don't know why he's so dedicated to teaching me something he considers so masculine. I practically have nothing left to learn, so it's just practice. Then, my father hunted, we ate, and bathed in the river. I don't mind eating raw meat, I actually like it, it's better than the food at home, where there's never any meat left for me.

We were on our way back when we encountered the alpha and his son Jonathan, my idiot brother's partner in foolishness.

"Hello, Leonel, out for a walk with your daughter?" What a stupid question, can't he see me right here?

Oh, the rage! Why do they think that females are only good for domestic work and entertainment? Ugh! It's clear that I've reached my limit, isn't it?

Jon approaches me.

"How are you?" he asks, surprisingly friendly.

"Well, why? Feeling guilty?" I asked rudely.

"Why would I feel guilty? It was you who clumsily tripped over my foot," he replied, getting irritated.

"Fine. Let's forget about it, alright?" It's no use complaining anyway, he'll never admit it.

He shook his head and stared at me strangely, coming closer as if he wanted to sniff me.

"Have you transformed yet?" he asked.

"No, I'm turning sixteen in two weeks," I replied, stating the obvious.

"Oh right, you have the same birthday as me, I forgot," he said.

"Well, actually it's just the same day," I retorted, not buying his "together" remark. Together my foot.

"You're quite feisty, girl. I wonder what you'll be like when I become your alpha," he said, sounding almost threatening. What would he do?

"Get lost," I replied bluntly.

"What?" he asked, not understanding.

"Jonathan, let's go! Goodnight to you all, bye Margarida," I said, relieved that he was the Alpha, or else I would have given him a "nice" response.

"Goodbye, Alpha, goodnight," I replied, wanting to say something else because he called me by my full name.

"You got away for today, sassy omega!" Jonathan said in my ear.

They headed towards the Alpha's mansion, while my father and I went home.

"What were you two talking about so much, Dad?" I asked curiously.

"I could ask you the same thing," he said with a smile, implying something I didn't understand.

"Oh, come on, tell me!" I insisted.

"Alright. He was telling me that the Supreme is visiting the Packs and killing alphas who aren't following his rules. It's probably best if we read the rule book as a family, so we don't lose our heads, literally," he said, serious.

"But isn't he only killing alphas?" I asked, actually hoping he would kill Jonathan.

"Yes, but sometimes it's the people's fault for disobeying, not even knowing the basic rules of behavior," he explained.

"I see..."

"Speak properly, girl, stop eating parts of your words!"

"Sorry, Dad."

"That's better. We're almost home, your mother is probably furious that we missed dinner," always wanting to please Mom.

"We can just say we ran into the Alpha, and it's his fault. She won't go and confront him anyway, I guarantee it," I suggested.

"Girl!!" he scolded me.

"But it's true, what's wrong with that?"

He didn't reply, and we continued walking in silence until we reached home and Mom scolded us for being late, and he responded exactly as I suggested.

"Alright then, dear. If you bumped into the Alpha, then there's no problem. You had to stop," she said, delighted to know that the Alpha paid attention to Dad.

I love it when I'm right, even though no one remembers to give me credit.
