chapter 4

drip drip drip.

drops of water falling into the sink. It was the only sound in the otherwise silent kitchen.

The two boys were still there on the floor, neither moving as Jimin processed everything. It was surreal, Jimin had wanted for so long. For so many months, for his life to be over. To be free from the sadness and the pain, and now... He was. Jimin was dead.

... Well not dead, but in a coma.

"S... So" Jimin began. He stopped to lick his chapped lips, his eyes cast down looking to the ground. He could feel Yoongi's eyes on him, but Jimin knew if he looked up at the boy just barely a foot away. He'd be unable to speak and he'd become tongue tied once again.

"What... H-happens now?" Jimin asked. The words coming out just barely audible.

Yoongi stayed quiet.

Looking at the boy in front of him. Yoongi couldn't help but feel bad for him. Yoongi wanted to be kind to the boy, he wanted to comfort Jimin.

But Min Yoongi wasn't one to wear his heart on his sleeve, he never had, and right now wouldn't be any different.

"Jimin" Yoongi said.

His voice coming out softer than both of them expected.

Yoongi paused for a moment to settle his own feelings. To control his voice he cleared his throat.

Jimin had yet to look up at Yoongi, but if he had. Yoongi would have seen the shock in Jimin's face. In the short time Jimin had "known" Yoongi, he'd never heard that softness before.

It was strange for Jimin to hear the boy display an emotion towards him that wasn't hurtful nor mean.

"Jimin" Yoongi spoke again.

This time his voice came out emotionless, robotic almost. Yoongi had a job to do, he'd spent years coming off as "cold" and "emotionless" and he sure as hell wouldn't change now. No matter how he felt, Min Yoongi couldn't allow anyone. ESPECIALLY the broken boy, Park Jimin, to see his true feelings.

"Being that you are in a coma.. you are in between life and death, and you have a choice. You can either choose to live, in which you'll wake up in a hospital bed. Living life with a second chance. Or you can die and go into the afterlife... You'll no longer have to feel the pain of living, but once you make the commitment to death. There is no going back Jimin. You will never be allowed to live again, not even through reincarnation."

Jimin opened his mouth to speak but before he could say anything, Yoongi held up his hand to silence the boy as he spoke again.

"But before you make a decision. I'm going to show you a few things Jimin."

Yoongi looked at Jimin as if he was waiting for the boy to speak. But after just being "hushed" a moment ago Jimin was hesitent in opening his mouth again.

"W-what are you going to show me?" Jimin tentatively asked.

The two of them looked at one another. Jimin's question smothering the silence between them.

Yoongi was the first to break eye contact. Turning around and walking out of the kitchen "come with me" was the only thing he said as he disappeared leaving Jimin alone in the kitchen.

Jimin sat there a moment still sitting on the ground. His mind told him to move, but his joints refused to cooperate. The boy felt as if he were literally frozen in place.

It wasn't until Jimim heard the front door slam shut that he was able to pick himself up off the floor and follow Yoongi.

It still didn't really make sense to Jimin. Everything still felt unreal, and it was hard for the boy to trust Yoongi let alone believe him when he said "You're in a coma, Jimin".

But what else was there for Jimin to do? What other path could he follow, besides going along with the man who'd shown up in his room? And as scary and strange and... Odd as it all was. Jimin felt as if he had no other choice other than to follow Min Yoongi.

Making his way out of the kitchen and into the foyer. Jimin hesitently stood in front of the white front door. His shaky fingers wrapped around the cold metal.

Doubt crept into Jimin's mind. Forcing the boy to question if he'd heard right moments ago.

What if Yoongi hadn't gone out this door? What if he'd gone out the back door, or maybe he'd gone upstairs.

But no... Jimim knew the front door was the only door that made such a loud noise when closed. Even if it was closed gently, the door still made a noise that made it sound like it had been slammed shut.

Taking a handful of deep breaths, Jimin twisted the knob. Opening the door Jimin felt the cold air envelop him. A chill overcame the boy as the outside world came into view.

Much to Jimins surprise. Everything was the same. It was Jimins neighborhood, with the same overgrown tree to the left of the yard near the curb. The same flowers Jimins father had planted for his mother, no sign that they had been disturbed by the boy. Even though Jimin knew he'd crushed them when he'd... "Fallen" out his bedroom window.

Looking out across the street Jimin could see even his neighbors. Two children a boy and a girl playing with their toys. Their mother just a few feet was sitting in a chair watching them. Jimin couldn't hear it, but he could see in the woman's face she was laughing.

Enjoying being with her two babies. She was happy, content.

Tears fell down the boys chubby cheeks. Nourishing and watering the grass beneath him. Jimin didn't mean to cry, he wanted to smile, to feel happy for the woman across the street with her two kids.

But another part of him envied her. She was alive, her family was alive, and they were happy. Happy and alive.

But it wasn't just the family that had Jimin crying.

No.

Everything was exactly how it'd been. Nothing had changed. And it gave Jimin an odd feeling, a feeling the boy had come to know so well the past few months. Sadness.

This sadness though, it was different. Looking down the street, left and right.

Everything was just as Jimin had thought, undisturbed by the boys departure from the world. He had known it would be this way. Nothing would change in the boys absence, nobody would miss him. Life would carry on as usual.

And it hurt the boy. Before it was just a mere thought. Almost like a fear of nobody noticing. But right now it wasn't just a fear. It was a reality. Life carried on after Jimin.

"Hey!" Yoongi growled. It wasn't a yell, but Yoongis voice was slightly raised. It was obvious to the spaced out Jimin that Yoongi had been trying to get his attention.

Quickly turning around Jimin came face to face with the man. His furrowed eyebrows only confirmed what Jimin thought.

"What the hell is wrong you?" Yoongi asked. His dark eyes burning into Jimins. Unable to contain eye contact, Jimin looked down at the grass as he spoke.

"I-I'm sorry I.. I just"

Yoongi could see the tears in Jimins eyes. Looking closer he could see Jimins cheeks were tinted pink and slightly puffy. The boy had obviously been crying.

Looking across the road to where Jimin had been looking. Yoongi saw what Jimin had seen. Yoongi sighed as the realization hit him.

He couldn't help but feel sorry for Jimin, and again. Just as he had inside. Yoongi wanted to comfort Jimin. To give the boy a hug and tell him itd be okay, that everything would be aliright!

But if only Jimin knew the monster he was standing just a few feet away from. He'd be appaled at even the sight of Yoongi. His skin would crawl knowing their bodies had touched.

It hurt Yoongi, and it hurt even more to feel any sort of emotion for Jimin. If only they'd met under different circumstances. Jimin still "alive", Yoongi not a killer.. But that wasn't how it was.

Jimin was between life and death, and Yoongi was a murderer, and nothing could change that. So Yoongi decided to stay cold towards Jimin. It was better for both of them that way.

"Do not be sorry" Yoongi said. It was firm but not harsh. He couldn't be soft towards Jimin, but with Jimin silently crying in front of him, Yoongi needed to at least for the moment, be kinder towards the boy.

Even if Jimin wouldnt, Yoongi would know.

"Now let's go. I have things to show you"

Yoongi turned around, and without word. Jimin followed.
