Hymn On The Wilted Daisies
The Ketaki's scent hovering with the slight breeze
entering the room through the window, accompanied by hymns being sung in a low
voice, the tingling of the spirit bell,
Such pampering is being showered on you, waking up
every day to this must be really quite amusing...
Yet instead of a mellow tune to awaken me from my
short lived slumber, a loud deafening tone was used which snapped my tired eyes
open, subsequently getting tortured by the illuminating rays of the morning
sun.
With a half asleep consciousness, somehow I dragged
myself to wash my face, in an attempt to wash away the tiredness...but to no avail.
And in the next moment I find myself sitting at the
dining with my uniform on, neatly braided hair and a plate full of fruits with
a glass of milk kept beside.
“Quickly finish! We need
to set off in 10 minutes or you will be late for school!” coming from my mother who seemed more enthusiastic about this
whole school matter than me...
God if not for the continuous glares that I
am getting from this Lady, I would have just dosed off,
Picked up a piece of fruit with the fork
and into my mouth it went...
Such a pain to force myself to keep these
sleepy eyes open!
It’s been a few days...since I have been
feeling like this, tired, drained...
And it’s not because of not getting enough
sleep...it’s because of the dreams that I have been getting;
Though I sleep but...yet awake, my body at
rest but still it feels like I walked miles...and a voice-
“Do you
see the goddamn time?”
“Ah...”
“I have
packed you enough Tiffin, let’s go now hurry!”
And it seems my
thoughts have to wait...
