Birthday

It's been days since Aika returned back in time and she is spending every day relishing every moment like by doing so she can keep on breathing as if she finally got medicine for her incurable illness.

"Any wishes, princess?" Elmer suddenly said beside Aika looking at her with those deep blue eyes like the night skies that it entranced her for a moment.

"Hmmm...no" Aika just smiled and looked away..thinking in her heart "lie..still have to wait ..then when finally done, maybe it's over.."

This time Silas looked at her with his gentle honey brown eyes which are warm like a sun melting anyone looking into them. Aika tried her best to not stare much into their eyes as it always enchanted her like magic that she will lose herself in the moment pouring out all her entanglements and longings but she knows she can't or it wouldn't change anything.

She was lost in thought that it took a while for her to notice Silas patting her asking,"What happened little lady? So lost..really no wishes?"

"No it's already fulfilled." Aika looked at them smiling happily like a kid who got a treasure but what she thought was," Seeing them again surpasses any wishes that I can't wish for more...or is it I don't dare dream?What am I saying? Stop thinking useless things. " Seemingly putting a stop to her thoughts running wild, Aika simply pressed down the heavy ache in her heart that surfaced for a moment.

" Princess is making it difficult for us now..well gotta think about it on my own now" said Elmer frustrated.

"What about you both? Any wishes?" Aika asked tilting her head looking with curiosity.

"Looks like munchkin has grown up now. Not at all pestering about her gifts but starts to think about our wishes" Silas said patting her head sighing.

"What? Will you give anything?" Elmer had a teasing smile as he asked Aika.

"Hmph..I can also make presents...Now I am a big girl. " Aika almost said with serious face but with little baby fat in her cheeks it still looked like a chipmunk that they couldn't help but pinch her cheeks thinking she is still a baby.

"Mmm..hey I am asking something serious here.." said Aika as she freed her chubby cheeks from the devils' hands.

"Forget it let's not make our little baby work hard you can give us anything..we'd still like it."Silas said not to make their little lady work hard for just a gift. Anyways they are happy as long as they spend their birthday together every year. Elmer also shrugged.

Looking at them, how can Aika not understand that to them just being together spending the day makes their birthday special. It is already special enough that they were born on the same day though she was born two years later than them. But she wants to make it memorable and unique thinking of what will happen in two years oh no it should be more than a year later. She wants to cherish every moment until she can.

Days passed as their birthday was approaching. Aika still hasn't thought of what to gift them. She aimlessly wandered up the mountain at the back of their houses. The house's were built at the foot of the mountain especially the Forbes and Mildred family lived nearest to the mountains so it's not unusual that the kids go to play in the mountains though they are restricted to go too deep as they don't know what might happen.

Finally coming to her senses, Aika finds herself lost as she has never been here but why does she find herself having a familiar feeling. She went with her instincts to go deep like something was guiding her there. As she reached a certain place she came to halt as she was mesmerized as some irrepressible emotions were evoked and she thought to herself, "Ah such a nostalgic place thought I had long forgotten but didn't guess...though it was only that once I ever came here..." Soon tears dewed her eyes as she started sobbing having a wistful smile. Finally assuaging all the heavy feelings, she finally smiles with satisfaction as she now came up with a gift. Some memories flashed in her mind. Revisiting this place after a lifetime, she didn't know why she can think of every detail of this place thinking, "Was I so deeply impressed by that night?"

As she walked down the mountain, she remembered that it was also on this year's birthday when they just wanted to spend the whole day together on their birthday as they always did but weren't allowed. After she turned 8, the boys were not allowed to stay the night so she pestered the boys a lot as they came up with a plan, maybe they were also reluctant. They quietly came out of their own house after their parents went to bed after dinner and decided to go up the mountain as they can't possibly roam around in the place lest they be spotted for being mischievous. They didn't know how they got lost and finally found this astonishing place. Thinking all this while she already reached her home.

The day before their birthday as usual they were sitting in the garden leaning against a tree in the shade.

"What's with that secretive smile of yours princess?" Elmer smirked at Aika.

"No..nothing " Aika immediately retorted wiping off the grin on her face.

"Hm is it?" Silas looked at her with a curious probing gaze.

Aika pondered then sticking out her tongue grinned,"Well secret."

"Now our sweet pea has learned to keep a secret." Elmer let out an exasperated sigh like an old man. Silas and Aika just laughed looking amused at his actions.

The next day, the very special day finally came as the first thing that they did was running towards each other to wish 'Happy birthday!' Silas and Elmer gave her earrings they made themselves one each. It was of two different colors- one was blackish purple like her eyes while other was light brown like her hair making quite a contrasting combination though when put on her it gave mysterious vibes. It was the same as her first life she cherished it so much but it was kept in her current home in her treasure box in her previous life...almost all the birthday gifts were piled up in the cupboard of her room.

"I love it so much" Aika flashed a smiled as she looks at them with twinkling eyes.

"What about ours?" Silas whined while Elmer also had a joking face asking the same.

"Later after dinner" Aika replied with a mysterious smile.

"What you really had?" Elmer was surprised so was Silas as they were just joking.

Aika just smiled as though she knew what they were thinking. Now Silas and Elmer were filled with anticipation seeing how mysterious she was being.

After dinner Elmer and Silas were made to bid farewell no matter how reluctant they were as they were still waiting for their present.

Aika told them to come out secretly after their parents lay on bed, meet with her at the door.

Finally they met up as Aika was holding their hands with each hand dragging them up the mountain.

"Hey princess what are we doing so late up here?"Elmer asked as he was looking around for any danger.

" Ya its dangerous up here and I seemed to see we passed the marked line."Silas also had a worried face as he was also keeping a lookout.

"Its alright. It's just around here." Aika tried to calm them down when reaching their destination she announced "We are here."

Silas and Elmer were enchanted as their breath hitched. Aika walked up a little to the centre of the place and taking off her shoes she sat by the lake which seemed neverending as the moonlight shone over it illuminating the small place. Countless stars filled the sky and deep fresh aroma of nature surrounded while there was haze over the other side of the lake. The place looked dreamy. She beckoned them to sit beside her.

After sitting together they looked in awe at the magical place.

"How did you even find such an amazing place, princess?"Elmer sighed feeling the cool water taking in fresh air. Silas also nodded his head looking at her.

"There's something even more amazing. Wait for three seconds. " And it so happened that after three seconds meteor shower took place.

"So magical" Silas murmured.

"Quick close your eyes and make your wish." Aika said as she already closed her eyes folding her hands together.

"You really believe such childish nonsense. "Elmer scoffed.

"Anyways make a wish Elm Sil" Aika wished in her mind" If I could wish for something, then all I wish for is all their wishes coming true, a world where they can be together forever living blissful days. I wish for them to be not torn apart in such despair that they can no longer live."

Aika POV

Opening my eyes I see Elm and Sil looking at me with gleaming eyes as they hunched closer kissing my cheeks. I close my eyes feeling a tingle all over my body as I sigh longing for their touch and with blushing cheeks I glare at them, "What are you doing?"

"Isn't this how all our birthdays end every year?"Elmer looked at me with confusion while Silas also seemed confused.

I almost forgot this was what happened on every birthdays before our family moved away. Though embarrassed I also kiss them both on their cheeks. I actually like their kisses but can't keep on. I seem to never be able to reject them.

We got up holding hands finally leaving the enchanting place.

"I loved the present Faye."Elmer whispered softly in my ear while Silas also hugged me burying his face on my shoulder sighing," Faye loved your present. " I almost felt dazed and dizzy as they called me 'Faye' so softly.

After cuddling for a few minutes we went down the mountain. Finally at the door of my house, Elmer and Silas hugged me once before looking into each other's eyes then meeting mine saying together "Good night sweet dreams our dearest Faye."
