Duke Carl had been feeling particularly playful today. He had been teasing Maxi, all day, and was delighted by how easily she blushed and flustered. As he sat at his desk, pretending to work on important documents, he couldn't help but glance over at Maxi and grin mischievously.
Maxi, on the other hand, was feeling a mix of emotions. She loved working for the Duke, but his constant teasing was starting to get to her. She was blushing so much that her cheeks felt like they were on fire, and her heart was beating faster than usual. She knew that the Duke wasn't being mean, but it was hard not to feel frustrated by his playful bullying.
Just then, the Duke stood up from his desk and walked over to Maxi. "Are you feeling okay, Maxi?" he asked, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
Maxi looked up at him, feeling her face turn even redder. "Yes, Your Grace," she murmured, trying to keep her voice steady.
The Duke chuckled. "You know, I think I've figured out what your problem is," he said, his voice low and teasing. "You're too easy to fluster."
Maxi bristled at the comment, feeling a flash of anger. "I am not," she protested, her hands clenching into fists.
The Duke raised an eyebrow. "Oh really?" he said, his lips curling into a smirk. "Well, let's test that theory, shall we?"
Before Maxi could even react, the Duke reached out and lightly tickled her sides. Maxi let out a squeal of laughter, trying to squirm away from him. But the Duke was too quick for her, and soon he had her pinned against the wall, tickling her mercilessly.
Maxi was laughing so hard that tears were streaming down her face, and she could barely catch her breath. "Please...Your Grace...stop!" she gasped out, between giggles.
The Duke finally relented, stepping back and grinning at her. "See?" he said, triumphantly. "You're way too easy to fluster."
Maxi glared at him, but couldn't help but feel a grudging respect for his teasing skills. "You're terrible," she said, shaking her head.
The Duke chuckled. "I know," he said. "But it's all in good fun, isn't it?"
Maxi smiled reluctantly. "I suppose," she said. "But you're lucky I'm not the type to hold a grudge."
The Duke raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And what type are you, then?"
Maxi shrugged. "The forgiving type, I guess," she said, her voice softening. "I know you don't mean any harm by it."
The Duke nodded, looking pleased. "Good," he said. "Because I wouldn't want to lose my favorite maid."
Maxi felt a warm flush spread through her body at his words. She knew that the Duke was just teasing her again, but she couldn't help but feel a little thrill of pleasure at being called his favorite.
The rest of the day passed in a flurry of teasing and playful banter, and Maxi found herself enjoying the Duke's company more than ever. She knew that he was still her employer, and that their relationship had certain boundaries, but it was hard not to feel a little bit smitten with him.
As she walked back to her quarters that night, Maxi couldn't help but smile to herself. She knew that the Duke was just playing around with her, but it was nice to feel wanted and appreciated.
