"Is this really gold?" Clara asked in surprise, her eyes also caught the price tag attached to the letter, which moved her deeply. Her salary wasn't nearly as much.
"Where did you get this money from?" Clara marveled at the sight of the pricey gold.
"You don't need to worry about where the money came from. I bought this gold with legitimate money, not from theft," Charzo said with a smile.
Clara looked at Charzo with a skeptical eye. It seemed very odd to her; where could Charzo have possibly found the money when he didn't work?
"You couldn't possibly be... a drug lord, could you?" Clara asked, her gaze sharpening on Charzo.
"Goodness, darling, what are you thinking?" Charzo flicked Clara's forehead.
"Ow! That hurts! So tell me, where did you get the money from?" Clara prodded, her curiosity not sated.
"Let it be, you don't need to know. Just use it," Charzo told her.
"If you won't tell me, then I refuse to wear or accept this gift from you," Clara said, standing and crossing her arms in a huff.
"Oh, come on, sit down." Charzo coaxed his wife to sit back on the bed. "If I told you this came from selling my video game, would you believe me?" Charzo asked, looking into Clara's eyes.
"A game? You can make games?" Clara inquired.
"Yes, and I've made some money. What do you say about moving to a rental place? At least I have some money, and you could start a small business, so you won't have to work like this," Charzo suggested.
"Are you serious? How much money do you have? I worry that if our business doesn't take off, we'll end up back here," Clara pouted.
"No, this time I have enough to guarantee that we can start a business and make a good profit. I'm serious about this; we can build something of our own," Charzo reassured her. But Clara was doubtful, afraid of leaving her mother's house and possibly having to return, increasing the animosity toward her family.
"Are you sure?" Clara asked, looking at Charzo.
"Yes, absolutely sure. Tomorrow I'll start looking for our new place and figure out what kind of business would be good for you, okay!" Charzo declared.
"Well then, I'll just go along with it," Clara said, resigning herself. Charzo walked to the table, picked up a box and handed it back to Clara.
"What's this now?" Clara asked as she accepted it, opening the box and smiling.
"Wow, these shoes are so beautiful, thank you. You've been giving me gifts so often lately," said Clara, trying on the shoes that fit perfectly.
"As long as I have money, I'll keep buying things for you. Before, when I had none, I couldn't give you anything," Charzo explained.
Smack!
A kiss landed on Charzo's cheek, and they were like a couple in the throes of new love.

Morning had arrived, and very early Charzo was up, preparing breakfast so that, after he finished all his chores, he could go out and look for their new home.
"Clara! Don't you go anywhere today," Lena said, seeing Clara getting ready for work.
"What's the matter, Mother?" Clara asked, puzzled.
"Don't ask why, just stay home today," Lena insisted.
"Charzo! Go to the market and buy groceries!" Lena commanded.
