Dawn approached, and the sun began to rise, its rays warming the earth once more. Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the window blinds, and soon after, the sound of an alarm pierced the stillness.
Kevin, with eyes still shut, fumbled for the bedside alarm clock and switched it off.
"Master Kevin, Master, it's time to rise—it's already half-past six, and you might be late," called out Mrs. Inem, who had woken earlier.
"Just five more minutes," mumbled Kevin, refusing to open his eyes.
"Come on, Master, get up, or you'll be late," Mrs. Inem persisted in waking Kevin.
Her constant nudging eventually succeeded in stirring Kevin from sleep.
"Oh, Auntie, always bothering Kevin," he groaned, dragging himself out of bed.
"Go shower, Auntie has prepared breakfast for Master Kevin."
"Oh, Auntie, is Mother back yet?" Kevin inquired.
"Not yet, Master."
"Mother's kingdom never calls her home," Kevin lamented.
"Don't talk like that, Master. Mother works for your schooling," Mrs. Inem warned him.
"But still not like this, Auntie," replied Kevin, discontented.
"Just go bathe before it gets later."
Kevin hurried off to the bathroom, turned on the shower, lathered up with soap. As he glanced down at the floor, he noticed strands of long hair around his feet.
"What's with all this hair?" questioned Kevin, growing uneasy.
A moment of stillness followed as he sensed a presence behind him. Mustering the courage to look back, Kevin found nothing there. However, as he was ready to continue, he was startled by the sight of Julia's bloodied, piercing gaze directed at him, causing him to scream.
"Aaaaaaaa!" Kevin cried out, running from the bathroom, hastily clad in a towel.
Upon hearing Kevin's scream, Mrs. Inem rushed over to him.
"What's wrong, Master?" she asked.
"It's nothing," Kevin replied, unwilling to share with Mrs. Inem, believing she wouldn't understand.
"But why were you shouting in the bathroom? You startled me," Mrs. Inem said.
"A cockroach scared me," lied Kevin.
"A big boy afraid of cockroaches, Master?" teased Mrs. Inem.
"Just leave it," retorted Kevin, departing from her.
Kevin returned to his room, got dressed in his uniform, and prepared to eat breakfast.
By 7:00 a.m., Kevin was on his way to school, riding his motorcycle at a steady pace.
The school wasn't far, and he soon reached his classroom. He approached Via and others, who were gathered together.
"Kevin, you look rather pale," Via observed.
"I couldn't sleep well last night," Kevin lied.
"Why, darling?" Erin asked.
"I was haunted by Julia's ghost last night," Kevin confessed.
"You probably hallucinated from using too much of something," Roy interjected, joining the conversation.
"I haven't touched any since Edo left," Kevin explained.
"That wasn't long ago, Kevin—it's been only a few days," Roy responded.
"Believe me, Julia's spirit visited me last night. Don't frighten me," Erin chastised.
"With me around, you have nothing to fear, darling," Kevin flirted.
Meanwhile, Dara was discussing Julia with Toni and Mia.
"Hey Mia, I had a strange dream last night," Dara shared.
"What did you dream about?" Mia inquired.
"I can't remember clearly, but in my dream, I saw the corpse of a boy who had hanged himself," Dara recounted.
"That's creepy," Toni remarked.
"I'm not lying," Dara assured them.
"Did you see which boy it was?" Toni probed.
"Sadly, no. I just saw his white shoes. I didn't get a good look at his face; I woke up before I could," Dara said.
"But no one in our class wears white shoes," Mia noted, scanning the room.
"Hopefully, it was just a dream," Dara sighed.
Soon the bell rang, signaling the start of class. The chemistry teacher entered, and the students began to prepare for their lesson.
"Today we have a quiz," the teacher announced abruptly.
"What? Why so sudden?" protested Via.
"Via, I've already covered the material. Today's quiz will revisit yesterday's lesson on acids and bases," the teacher reminded her.
With that, Via fell silent, and everyone received their test papers. The room quieted as students focused on reading and answering the questions.
Kevin, however, didn't work on the quiz; he was looking for answers elsewhere.
"Via... Via!" he whispered.
"What is it?"
"Let me see your answers," Kevin pleaded.
"I haven't even answered one yet; what's there to copy?" Via retorted.
"Come on!" Kevin complained.
Suddenly, Kevin felt a chill. Goosebumps rose on his arms as a cold breath hit the back of his neck, heightening his anxiety.
"This feels off," Kevin thought to himself.
He glanced toward Dara, sitting at Julia's old desk. To his shock, Dara seemed like Julia—her hairstyle, her figure.
Trying to clear his mind, Kevin called out to her.
"Dara!"
But she didn't respond.
"Is Dara deaf or what? Dara... Dara!"
Finally, Dara turned around, but through Kevin's eyes, it was not Dara but Julia, blood-stained and glaring back at him.
Kevin was startled, rubbing his eyes, and when he looked again, Julia was gone; only Dara remained. Dara, puzzled by Kevin's odd behavior, thought, "What's with him?" Kevin, now half-believing he had seen Julia, was lost in his thoughts.
Half an hour passed, and Kevin hadn't answered a single question. He was too engulfed in his fear, ignoring the quiz.
Feeling a cold touch on his shoulder, he turned and saw Julia's glowering eyes, which sent him into a panic.
"Aaaaaaa!" he screamed, causing the entire class to turn.
"Don't disturb me!" Kevin yelled.
The chemistry teacher was shocked by the outburst and demanded an explanation.
"What's going on, Kevin?" the teacher asked.
But Kevin was still on the floor, paralyze
