Chapter Five a long absurd crackling

Bertha's POV

It all went terribly! I couldn't even last 10mins against him. I truly am weak.

I stared blankly at the huge library. I'm not even sure how large this building is. For there to be such a massive spacious room all for nothing but the sake of reading showed a bit of their expensive side.

I didn't want to look Kurt in the eye as of now. I'm not worth it.

I looked at the slight burns on my wrists from where he had hit me lightly. Should I have ran like that without an explanation? No, that wasn't necessary.

I walked over to the window to have a peep at the village below. It wasn't as calm as I had expected. Instead there seemed too be a sudden shake in the atmosphere. I squinted my eyes and could barely make it out. The sight of black smoke at the side of the village close to the forest.

How long had I been holed up in here? I held into the sides and jumped down just in time to see Livius coming out with Leif and that Quizz girl. Leif yelled a couple of instructions to the commander of his guards and didn't waste any time to move to the seemingly most affected part other village.

The Quizz girl didn't budge from her spot as if rooted and was later ushered back in the palace by one of the entrance guards.

Wait what am I doing? I was once again standing idly as my teammates fight. No. I'm not gonna stay pathetic.

Without much thinking I ran after him. I was once again behind. We arrived at the scene in the blink of an eye but saw nothing. Sure there was black smoke around, but nothing in sight seemed to be on fire. I'm not sure if this was good or bad but the whole area was deserted.

Eerily quite.

Well we only looked around in confusion for nothing more than a minute before the maniac laughter ripped through the air.

"They fell right into my trap"

The voice muttered before breaking into a series of laughter.

What? A...a Banshe?! How did one pass through the pure fall. I glanced at the composed figure of Leif who seemed to aware before hand.

It was faster than I could see...all I felt was the slight sting as blood rushed through my right cheek. It was pretty fast. I wiped the blood away as  nonchalantly as I could.

It once again fell into a long absurd crackling.

My sight got better though as Leif had cleared the smoke from the area bring the Banshe to view.

It was quite oddly shaped.... although they mostly are, but....it's hair was shoulder length long and it's eyes hollow and searching. It wasn't nearly as frightening as I had dreaded and that made me angry at myself. Why was I being scared.

Leif sent a couple of crescent air slashes towards it but instead of dodging, 'it' stopped in midair waiting for the impact. Much to my surprise in didn't hit him. It didn't even touch him as the air passed through his body into the strained air.

Obviously Leif wasn't happy with the outcome as he creased his brows. I didn't want to be a burden to him so I moved a bit backwards away from them.

" Hehehehehe, missed me~ "

The Banshe seemed to be staring straight down at me though and I didn't like it at all. I'm not sure it can see me though. Right?

It then flew down with a speed I swear I haven't seen a Banshe use before. It then brought a thin blade of air and slashed down at me.

I blocked of course, using a [ wall ]. This wasn't expected. At all.

It moved once again avoiding the spears Leif sent it's way. This thing had sharp instincts. I ran towards a building and started muttering words of encouragement to myself while creating a spell that I was still working on.

It wasn't complete yet but this might be the perfect time to test it.

Hold on a little longer Leif.

Leif's POV

After Bertha ran away to take coverage at the building on my left the Banshe disappeared into the atmosphere right in front of my eyes. I had never seen one so adapt in using wind magic before.

But if Quizz Mediumship ( the ability to communicate with spirits ) is accurate then at least 3 more are headed this way.

How did they get past the fall, I'm not aware. Nor do I know how this Banshe can blend into the atmosphere so smoothly.

I thought quickly and went calm. All I have to do is force into view first before attacking it. I looked over at Bertha, she seemed to be meditating on something as her hands started glowing dimly.

My turn

I closed my eyes and held my breath. Slowly I filtered all the oxygen within the radius of 30 meters. There didn't seem to anybody around this area apart from me and Bertha so it should be ok.

Even if she suffocated for a bit, it's all for the greater good. Please bear with me Bertha.

I heard her distant coughing but ignored it as I felt 'it' close. To my left, just a few more minutes before it hits....

I snapped my eyes open creating an air vacuum dragging the Banshe that wanted to slice of my head with a series of short air swords around it.

The swords soon vanished as the Banshe tried to fly backwards away from the vacuum that was in my palms which would suck it into my dark room.

It struggled to escape the tight area but it's vain. I stared it dead in the eyes and realize that although air is 'it's' strength, it can also be a great weakness.

While I was grinning slightly proud of my 'achivement' , I failed to notice the sizzling from behind me. Not until it came into full view and I saw that the Banshe I had ' captured' was nothing but the after image of it.

I immediately stopped and turned back to see the tip of the air spear right in front of my eyes. It was fast. Too fast. It gave me a knowing look and tilted it's head to the. Right while smiling as if to say; if you move, you're dead.

I glared at it angrily wondering how it could be so smart. It pierced the middle of my eyes a little but with enough pressure to make it trickle out blood.

Was this all I had to offer? Surely not! The Crowned Prince of Gostom. I will not lose to a lowly Banshe that probably can't even differentiate left from right!

The Banshe seemed to understand his thoughts though as it pierced it's spear a bit deeper.

I tried to cast a small cyclone to push it away in my hand but they won't budge.

Gosh!

Where the hell was Bertha!!!
