Chapter Four so I can become the strongest

Leif's POV

I sat at next to King Diazepam as he studied the young Fairy princess. She was at an average height with lengthy yellow hair that was cut gracefully by her knees. Her blue gown was long and pretty as it draped over her shoulders.

Her eyes were the prettiest thing about her though. The mixed green and yellow shades of her eyes that seemed to glow in the sunshine. I looked at her curves. Quite disappointing. She looked at everything in the room except Father's eyes.

And the lingering silence but have been suffocating for her because soon she was coughing slightly indicating that she wanted to say something.

" His Majesty King Diazepam Ravana of the great elven Tribe of Gostom, I  Princess Quizz Durand, third First daughter of Queen Morticia of the Clan of Durand Fairies have come to formalize the courtship process."

Father looked at her and gave an approving nod, although I saw the frown he had plastered to his face didn't reach his peridot eyes. I looked over at mother who showed no sign of sympathy to her with equally harden emerald eyes.

" Leif? Is there anything you would like to say to her? " Father asked startling me slightly.

" Yes actually. Lady Quizz, how old are you if I may ask?"

She seemed to ponder the question for a bit before replying.

" Your highness, we Fairies tend to have a lengthy life span there fore if I was to calculate the number of decades I have existed on this Earth, it would roughly sum up to 60years. " She replied curtly.

I see, so I getting engaged to an old lady. Way to ruin my childhood father.

I turned back to see Azazel the lowly good for nothing of a slave that was the cause of my sister's current condition waltz into the room unannounced.

   She stopped midway.

" Your majesty, your highness, crowned prince, Lady Quizz.I apologise for my intrusion but have dire news to announce."

She waited for an approving nod form father before continuing.

" There has been an outbreak from the western part of the village. The villagers seem to be conducting a riot. Division three of the soldiers are attempting to curb their actions."

I raised my eyebrows at the stupid news that she brought. What was the cause of such an abrupt behavior. But mother had already stood up to address the issue while father scribbled something down on a piece of paper and handed it to me before leaving the room.

Soon only me and Lady Quizz was left in the room. I read the note which left a sour taste in my mouth.

' Leif, I know she looks like a kid but that girl is ways older than you. Try to get your self familiar with her and don't act like a fool. I'll go settle the matter. Enjoy yourself.'

I stood up and moved closer to Lady Quizz which must have startled her because she moved backwards self consciously. She was a pretty Fairy. And a bit short, but I guess this was the best I could get from an arranged marriage.

" Do you want to marry me?" I asked her staring directly into her greenish yellow eyes.

" It has already been decided crow–"

" Call me Leif when we are alone. I repeat, do you want to marry me?"

She looked back at me and answered with her hands trembling a bit. Maybe I was putting too much pressure on her.

" Yes cro–Leif...."

Was she really as old as she claimed? She looked too fragile. Did she really want to though. We were both aware that the only reason this engagement was staged was because our clans wanted to use it as an excuse to sign a treaty.

We needed all the help we could get to keep our home safe now that there was a lot more Grenade Holes than anticipated. I turned away from her smallish frame and smiled to myself. As least she knew her place.

" Umm Leif?.... Can I ask you something?"

" Why not Quizz." Her name felt sweet on my tongue. It was also not a name I would give to a Fairy of her caliber.

" Why are you joining the Kenji Society?"

I was surprised at her question. I didn't even know she knew that much. That means the Durand land were very good at collecting information.

" So I can become the strongest...."

She looked at me hesitantly before adding the part I tried to avoid.

" To avenge your brother?" She asked timidly.

" For a kid you sure do ask a lot of questions!" I snapped.

She shrunk in fear. Like she actually shrinked in size.

" Sorry" she said in such a low voice I barely heard her.

Was this the same arrogant brat that was causing a hell of a noise in the green field earlier? Nevertheless I shouldn't have scolded her.

*sigh

" I have my personal reasons for applying Quizz. I'll let you know when I feel the time is right." I said slowly trying to amend my mistake.

She nodded and eventually grew back to her actual size. I wondered if she could grow taller than that, or at least grow in the right places.

She walked over to the window and I noticed the smoke entering it too. I moved to her and looked outside seeing a couple of houses burning down in the distance. Why couldn't this people just learn to cooperate without causing any form of disturbance for once.

I can't believe I'm going to have to rule over this bunch of nitwits after marriage. Such a pain.

Quizz then unexpectedly grabbed my arm while sniffing the air. Great, so my fiancee was an animal. Perfect.

". Do you scent it? It's coming closer." She muttered as if talking to her self.

I looked at the town again. I couldn't scent anything. All I could feel was the rise in temperature around.

" From....west? It's coming from the Fall!" She said a bit panicked.

" What are you talking about?" I asked somewhat confused.

" There'—"

" There's a herd of Banshes headed towards the city crowned prince!" Livius yelled as he entered the room cutting Quizz short.
