Chapter 3: The Meeting

Chapter 3: The Meeting

Lily was shocked when she received a message from The Butcher. It had been months since he was put in prison, and she thought that was the end of it. But now he wanted to meet with her, in person.

She tried to ignore the message, but it kept nagging at her. She couldn't help but wonder what he wanted to talk to her about.

Eventually, her curiosity got the best of her, and she agreed to meet with him, under strict supervision.

The meeting was set up in the visitor's area of the prison, with a thick glass wall separating them. Lily felt a chill run down her spine as she sat down across from him.

The Butcher was smiling, as if they were old friends. "It's good to see you again, Lily."

Lily tried to keep her voice steady. "What do you want, James?"

The Butcher leaned in closer. "I just wanted to talk. You know, catch up on old times."

Lily felt a sense of disgust rising inside her. How could he be so casual, after all the lives he had taken?

But she knew that she had to stay focused. She was here to find out what he wanted.

"What's this really about?" she asked.

The Butcher shrugged. "I just wanted to tell you something. Something important."

Lily leaned forward. "What is it?"

The Butcher's smile faded, and his eyes narrowed. "I know what you did, Lily."

Lily felt a jolt of fear. What was he talking about?

The Butcher continued. "You were playing games with me, weren't you? All that talk about catching me, and then you betrayed me."

Lily felt a sick feeling in the pit of her stomach. She had no idea what he was talking about.

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said, trying to keep her voice steady.

The Butcher leaned back in his chair, his smile returning. "Oh, I think you do. And I just wanted you to know that I haven't forgotten. I'll be out of here someday, Lily. And when I am, you'll be the first person I come looking for."

Lily felt a cold sweat breaking out on her forehead. She knew that The Butcher was capable of anything. And now, he was threatening her.

But she refused to show him any fear. "I'll be ready for you," she said, with as much confidence as she could muster.

The Butcher just laughed. "We'll see about that, won't we?"

The meeting ended soon after that. Lily walked out of the prison feeling shaken to her core. She knew that she had just made an enemy for life. And she had no idea how to protect herself from him.

Lily's mind was racing as she left the prison. She had just come face to face with a notorious serial killer who had threatened her, and she had no idea how to protect herself.

She knew that she couldn't let her guard down, not even for a moment. The Butcher was a master of deception, and he could be plotting his revenge even now.

As she drove back to her apartment, Lily felt a sense of paranoia creeping up on her. She kept looking over her shoulder, as if expecting to see The Butcher's face leering at her from every corner.

When she finally arrived home, she locked the door behind her and sank down on the couch. She felt drained, emotionally and physically.

But she knew that she couldn't afford to rest for long. She had to come up with a plan, and fast.

Lily spent the next few days researching ways to protect herself from a potential attack. She read up on self-defense techniques, martial arts, and even considered getting a gun.

But the more she thought about it, the more she realized that those things wouldn't be enough. The Butcher was a seasoned killer, and he would be prepared for anything she could throw at him.

She needed help.

That's when Lily decided to reach out to Dr. Foster. She knew that her mentor had contacts in law enforcement, and maybe they could provide her with some protection.

Lily called Dr. Foster and explained the situation to her. At first, Dr. Foster was hesitant to get involved, but when Lily told her about The Butcher's threat, she agreed to help.

Dr. Foster made a few calls, and soon Lily found herself being assigned a police detail. Two officers would be stationed outside her apartment, around the clock.

Lily felt a sense of relief wash over her. For the first time in days, she felt like she could breathe again.

But she also knew that this was just the beginning. She had made an enemy who was determined to get revenge, and she had to be ready for anything.

Lily vowed to never let her guard down again. She had entered a dangerous game, and the stakes were higher than ever before. She would do whatever it takes to survive.
