Chapter 5

I watched dumbstruck as Hana started to hover and control the air. If it were a story, her eyes would start glowing and she'd end up getting stopped by the main character. This is real life, and not a story, I thought to myself. Everyone ran out of the gym as fast as possible, not caring about the others. After the blonde who challenged Hana ran out, she closed the door behind her and locked it. 10 students were stuck in here with me, and were having on the door to get out. Hana started to come over and they all shut up. She raised a hand up and the wind started up again, but suddenly it stopped. She screamed and clutched her head, and the wind started up again. This time it was much stronger. The doors trembled and shook, the flags and things on the walls were torn of, the bleachers started to creak and bend. And me being a normal person, did the sensible thing of hiding doing with the other students. Yeah, I regretted it, but seriously? I see this girl who could kill everyone here and I'm supposed to head towards her? Yeah, no. No matter how lucky I am, I don't have enough luck to survive that. Soon the whole gym is full of the wind, and Hana is still screaming. Suddenly, her screams stop and I hear a thud. I look out from my corner and see her fallen on the ground, her head bleeding. Feeling guilty about leaving her earlier, I rush over and pick her up. The door opens and the other students file in. The blonde smirks and shouts out for everyone to hear.

"See? She's a witch and could kill all of us!" The other students murmur in agreement and back as far away as possible. I feel anger rose up inside of me. This poor girl is beaten up daily, bullied, feared and hated. But despite this all, she still can smile and laugh.

"Shut up." I speak with more venom then I should and she flinches. I feel everyone starting at me and storm out of the gym to take Hana to the nurse's office.

I open my eyes to see an older woman and Ash looking at me. I remember what happened in the gym and start to panic.

"I- I didn't mean to, it just..." I try to explain what happened but Ash just laughs.

"It's fine, I should apologize for not helping you." He turns his head away, his ears turning pink.

The nurse laughs at our behavior. "Ah, young love."

We both snap around to look at her. "We're not in love!" We speak in sync.

She laughs again as we turn away from each other. "Sure, anyway," She changed the subject. "You shouldn't move around for the rest of the day because of that cut. I'll call your parents to pick you up." She starts to reach for the phone.

"No! Don't!"
