To the roots

( teacher introduced Ner to the whole class. *Everyone was excited to be friends with him . he was very charming and different.)

Teacher : you can choose to sit next someone with empty seats.

Ner : Can I sit there?

(ner pointed towards Atra. the shy atra felt embarrassed as everybody started staring at her to see the chosen one)

Teacher : sure why not. Atra make sure that you help him around as he is unfamiliar here.

( atra nodes in agreement. Ner goes towards atra and sits near her. Ner smiles at atra. atra looked the other way out of shyness.)

Ner : hi princess. I am glad I got to sit with you.

( the whole class turned around.)

Atra : my name is atra, call me atra.

( atra whispered)

Ner : sure atra.

( it was the recess time most of the kids assembled around atra's table to meet ner. atra felt very uncomfortable with all the attention she got up to leave.)

Ner: where are you leaving prin..... Atra?

( Ner got up and followed atra. all the other girls were jealous as everybody had a crush on him and atra was a nobody till now.)

atra : why are you following me? stay at your desk. Iam just going to the library.

Ner : I am not here to stay at my desk. I am supposed to be with you always.

( the whole class was surprised with the answer they all started murmuring. atra become very uncomfortable she ran outside so. before ner could go out, he was surrounded by his classmates to know what is going on with them. Ner remained silent wondering what he did wrong. )

( atra skipped a class and successfully avoided ner on the way back home. she was being monitored by a lot of eyes. she felt very vulnerable and exposed for the first time. she was out of her comfort zone. meanwhile Ner was searching for atra.)

Atra : I am home. grammy? Where are you.....

( Atra looked for her grammy everywhere but she wasn't there. she went down to the basement to see a door, wonderfully carved and immediately felt attracted to it. Atra reached out her hands towards the handle. But some force took her away from the door.)

Ner : what are you doing? you are not ready yet. you can't go inside.

Atra: what are you doing? leave me and what do you mean by I am not ready to go inside ?

Ner : Iam sorry princess you can't go in unless you have your powers back that is why iam here to help you. I can't let you in without making sure that you can handle magic.

Atra : what powers are you talking about?

Ner : have you ever experienced magic in you?

Atra : I don't think so.

Grammy : atra why are you here so early?

( grammy came through the door. and the door was veiled in to a regular wall.)

Grammy: Ner what are you doing here? you are going to her school ? does king know about this ?

Ner : No grandmother. I have always been here for her and I will continue to do that. I know he wouldn't be against it. because that is my purpose.

Grammy : Ner but you are young.

Ner : yes I am, so is she. she needs to be protected by magic and I can do that.

Atra : grammy do you know him ? who is this? and what is all this about why do you have to protect me? from what?

grammy : My child I have a lot to tell you. you are more than what you think you are. you are supposed to be the most powerful magical being in the world. But your mother's death have changed you. there are creatures who are waiting to kill you if they knew you were powerless. you can't go back unless you gain your power back. and it is high time that you must work towards it . your father's health is deteriorating.

Atra : what? grammy....

Grammy : yes my child and Ner is my grandchild. I was assigned to take care of you here on earth being your everything.

( atra's eyes watered. she ran and hugged grammy. grammy held her tight)

grammy : Don't cry my child. I love you and I have never loved anybody like how I have loved you. you are precious to me child. you will make a very good queen.

Atra: grammy can I see my father?

grammy : not now my child we shy wait.
