I Already Knew

“You mean you came from the twenty-first century? You time traveled?” The man sat down in front of me in astonishment after I finally finished sharing my story. “How? And you’re a girl you say?”

“I don’t know how this happened. I think Ivano was hypnotizing me or trying to keep me to sleep because I kept finding myself waking up and losing consciousness again that I somehow lost the ability to know which is real and which is dream anymore. This is actually the longest I’ve ever slept.”

“You think you’re slumbering now?”

“I believe so. It’s only in sleep I am able to experience weird stuff. And the fact that I’m in Ivano’s body right now should be a given. I also dreamt of being somebody else before. The daughter of Lord Matt, her name’s Katherine.”

At the memory of the broken couple, my cheeks flushed and I suddenly thought of something wicked. Biting my lip, I tentatively touched Ivano’s crotch and experimentally groped his length. It was soft but still big. The old man suddenly chuckled that I pulled my hands away from Ivano’s pecker.

“You seriously got a thing with Ivano, don’t you, little girl?”

“Um…” I grinned and bit my lip. “Well, he’s quite a catch.” I spread my hands on my chest and felt Ivano’s hard groovy stomach.

“Well…” The old man snapped. “I’ve got an idea!”

“What?” I leaned over, eager to listen to what this wise man had to say.

“Oh, thank fu¢k! You’re finally awake!”

“Ivano!” I exclaimed before jumping off the bed.

“Easy!” He caught my arms to steady me on my feet but I whisked his hands away.

“Why did you wake me up?” I couldn’t help but snap at him.

“What?” His eyes widened in disbelief.

“I…” Feeling suddenly embarrassed, I brushed my hair away from my face. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to doze off. Are you hungry? I’ll cook dinner.”

“Dinner?” Ino repeated. “It’s lunch, Stella. And I’m supposed to be the one asking you if you’re hungry. I didn’t remember you actually had a decent meal since you came into my home. You’ve been sleeping for three days!”

“What?”

“Yes. I was tempted to call an ambulance when you’re not waking up.”

If I didn’t know better, I would’ve prompted him to explain why he didn’t. But I knew he couldn’t admit strangers in his home because just as he’d said, no one comes out of his home anymore after getting inside although I’m still not sure if that was still part of my dream or did it happen in reality. And that’s the dilemma I’m about to solve. There’s no way I wouldn’t get out of here. Thus, I’ve to help Ivano of his complicated life so I, in turn, would be free from his prison.

“Well, uh…” I didn’t know how to explain to him that I traveled time during my sleep and that I already knew his dark secret. “I must be really beat from that accident.”

“Accident?” Ino’s shoulders tensed up and his jaw set to grim.

“When I came here, I had an accident. The cab I hired collided with a truck. I got bruises and a few cuts but nothing serious. Maybe that’s why I slept so long, my body was trying to heal.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Ivano’s thunderous voice made me jump on the spot. “Fu¢k! I’m sorry. I… You should’ve said something so I didn’t…I didn’t…” He trailed off because I knew it would compromise him if he continued his speech.

But I already knew. Ivano was afraid to scare me off. He needed me for his… I didn’t exactly know his agenda here. Maybe he needed me for the blood. But one thing I’m certain, there’s no kid to babysit. To save us both from further awkwardness, I chimed in.

“Don’t worry. I said nothing serious happened. The driver had a mild heart attack but help came fast. So uh… Yeah…” I pointed towards the door while nodding. “I should really go make that lunch. I think I’m starving.”

Which was true because my stomach suddenly soured and hunger made me nauseous. I cooked in autopilot while my mind was working overtime. I ignored Ivano’s curious gaze on me though I suspected he itched to know the puzzling mystery about me. Ditto.

Once I was done, I set the table for two, ate with him but the conversation was scarce. I kept catching Ivano looking at me or was I the one staring at him that he’d catch me doing it? I wasn’t sure anymore.

My nerves were jumpy as I sat there, couldn’t eat faster. I needed to get back to that old vampire and finish our conversation. He knew so much and I was certain he’d know how to solve mine and Ivano’s situation.

“I’m sorry but I need to get back upstairs. You said I haven’t been awake for three days so I must be stinking. I need a shower.”

“Sure. I’m fine. Go ahead.” Ivano waved his hand while eyeing me suspiciously.

“Thanks.” I dashed out of the room and went upstairs.

I did a thorough wash, dried up, and took care of my dental hygiene. As soon as I was good, I dove straight to bed and waited for sleep to take me away. And it didn’t disappoint.
