Main Story [ff]
It started on the 13th of May.
The clouds were roaming in the sky and a cool wind was blowing when an alarm began to ring.
Rrrrrrr… Rrrrrrr…
Jungkook turned and groaned into his pillow. “Just let me nap, just a bit more…” he grumbled.
A sound came from the kitchen. “Get up, Jeon Gukkie! You are late for school!” The voice belonged to his friend. The two were living in a rented apartment because although Jungkook attended school in Seoul, his house was in Busan. To complete his school years more peacefully, he moved to be closer to the school.
Jungkook was startled when he saw that it was already 8 a.m. One of his teachers already hated him for constantly being late. He tended to go to parties with his friends at night. “The teacher will surely punish me,” he sighed.
He immediately went to take a shower and got ready to leave for school. On his way, he saw a beautiful calico cat. He stared at the cat’s beautiful eyes for a moment before continuing on his path.
When he reached the school, he saw that the teacher was already in the room and that dance practice had already started. The teacher glared at Jungkook and asked him the reason for being late once again. He stood still and bowed in apology. “I will not be late again,” he said. It was 8:30 a.m. when he arrived, and there were only 30 minutes left of class. Jungkook quietly went to stand beside his friend, Jaehyun.
Jaehyun was a funky type of guy. While Jungkook was more frank with the girls, Jaehyun was more reserved. Therefore, the girls always gave love letters to Jaehyun to deliver to Jungkook. However, Jungkook always pushed the letters away and threw them in the dustbin saying those girls were not his type.
After school finished, Jungkook went back to his apartment to get some rest. Around 8 p.m., he got the desire to go clubbing and have another night party with his friends. He grabbed his jacket, put on a helmet, and took his motorcycle bike to the most famous club in the area where he was a regular customer.
That night, Jungkook got heavily drunk and wasn’t able to stand up, let alone ride back home. All of his friends had left before him. Fortunately, there was another guy in the club. Jungkook was left with this stranger and the club’s manager.
With Jungkook being a regular at the club, he and the manager knew each other quite well. It appeared as if this stranger knew the manager as well, for they were on a first-name basis.
“Jimin,” the manager asked, “would you help Jungkook get back home safely?”
Jimin refused. “I don’t know where he lives,” he scowled. “I have no time for this shit.”
“Please,” the manager pleaded. “I’m not asking you as the manager. I’m asking you as your father’s friend.”
Jimin sighed. He looked at Jungkook and his heart softened seeing the condition the poor boy was in. “Fine. Do you know where he lives?”
The manager gave Jimin Jungkook’s apartment address. He knew that Jimin was a good kid and wouldn’t get involved with anything unethical. Being a family friend, he trusted that Jimin would pull through.
“Can you help me get him to my car?” Jimin asked, turning back to the manager.
“I would, but I can’t,” he said. “I have to stay and clean up before leaving.”
Jimin rolled his eyes before going to help Jungkook, who was now slumped over the counter of the bar. Jimin put Jungkook’s left arm behind his neck and used his right arm to grab him at the waist. Walking slowly so that Jungkook would not fall, they headed towards Jimin’s car. Jimin carefully laid Jungkook in the back seat and headed up front to drive. Every once in a while, he glanced up to see Jungkook in the rearview mirror. His gaze would linger for a few seconds before looking back at the road. “He’s not bad looking,” he thought to himself. “I wonder what he’s like when he’s sober.”
Just before reaching their destination, Jungkook began to mumble. “I need water,” he muttered,
“it’s too hot in here…” Jimin pulled over in front of the walkway to the apartment and gave Jungkook a bottle of water. Jungkook took a few sips and leaned his head back against the headrest for a moment before getting out of the car. He turned to look at Jimin, nodded in acknowledgement and thanks, and headed inside. Jimin’s eyes were focused on Jungkook until he was safe inside the apartment.
May 13th marked their first encounter.
The next morning, Jungkook woke up and asked his roommate for details on what happened the night before. His friend told him how he went clubbing and drove back in a car with another young man. By then, it was 7:30 a.m. Jungkook got ready for school and made it on time. The teacher praised him for not being late for the first time in his high school career. After that, dance class started.
After a few classes, it was finally lunch time. Everyone began heading to the cafeteria to eat. Jungkook was walking with Jaehyun when he suddenly bumped into someone. It was Jimin. “Ahh, so it’s you again,” Jimin said. Jungkook’s mind was blank. He was so drunk last night, he didn’t remember who the man was standing in front of him.
“What do you mean, ‘It’s you again?’” he asked.
Jimin told him the story of what happened last night. Jungkook’s cheeks were flushed with embarrassment. He looked away from Jimin’s intense gaze. “Thank you for helping me last night,” he said shyly.
“It’s alright,” Jimin chuckled. “Just be careful next time.” He turned and continued walking to the cafeteria.
Jungkook’s eyes followed him down the hall. He was suddenly curious and wanted to know everything about Jimin. It was the first time he felt interested in knowing someone. He turned to Jaehyun and asked him to help gather information about Jimin.
After some time, Jungkook came to realize that Jimin was also from Busan and had transferred to Seoul High School. But he was in dance class section B.
The gears in Jungkook’s head began to turn.
