After dinner, they go to rest in their rooms.

Everyone is shocked by the king's proposal.

The king dismisses everyone except for Lucas, Dikson, and himself.

Carlos: Valery, whom shall we take since the whole troop won’t go?

Valery: We know Octavio is cunning; never underestimate him. Let’s head to the military barracks for the boys.

They encounter a group of ladies, including Queen Merida.

Carlos, Valery: Your Majesty.

Merida, paying them no mind, glances at the two and continues walking with the ladies.

Carlos and Valery exchange a look, speechless, when Princes German and Tomas appear.

Tomas, seeing Valery, hides; his brother is puzzled and looks at the captains.

German: Are you new here?

Valery: We serve General Roberson.

German: Your names?

Carlos and Valery: Captain Carlos, Captain Valery Roberson.

German catches Valery’s eye and offers a knowing smile, thinking to himself that his brother is going to have trouble with their mother.

Carlos: Excuse us; we must depart.

They leave and continue to discuss how many men to take.
