Episode 11

As they remain at the palace, the Roberson family's carriage approaches the large mansion owned by the general. At the entrance, a servant intercepts them.

Soldier: I am here with the General's family, allow us to pass.

Servant: Ha! What family? The general is a widower. Don't try to fool me, be gone.

Just as the soldier is about to speak again, a scared scream is heard coming from the carriage.

Greta: What's happening, soldier?

Soldier: They won't allow us entry, ma'am.

Greta: How can that be?

Greta steps down from the carriage and is about to speak when a woman approaches and douses her with water, soaking her face and clothes.

Greta: What the—?

Maritza, the housekeeper: Don't come here pretending to be part of our family and then go away, beggars.

Margo: Greta, what's happening? Elizabeth is about to give birth!

Greta: They won't let us in.

Soldier: My lady, you may come to my house. It's just my sister and my grandmother there—humble, but you're welcome.

Greta: Thank you, we'll come with you.

Upon arriving at the soldier's modest home, they carefully assist Elizabeth, taking her to the grandmother's bedroom.

Sara: My dear grandson, what's going on? Who are these people?

Soldier: Grandmother, they're the General's family, but right now we must aid the commander's wife.

Soldier's grandmother Sara aids Margo and Greta in delivering the baby, while little Angel, frightened, is cared for by Tatiana, the soldier's sister.

Tatiana: Brother, I don't understand why they weren't let into the General's mansion.

Soldier: Neither do I. The General remarried at the border, his new wife is a kind woman, always helped the wounded and those in need.

Elizabeth's labor is progressing well, though lengthy. A cry is heard in the small home, and not long after, another cry follows—Elizabeth has given birth to twins, a boy and a girl. She's exhausted from the labor.

As the women clean everything up, a fatigued Elizabeth falls asleep. Greta and Margo dress the little ones.

Back at the castle, all is well when the king finally releases the general and his officers. They head to the mansion, alight from their horses, but are puzzled not to see their family's carriage. Upon entering, they see a grand table arrayed with food and are greeted by the parents of Lucas, Lorena, and Efrain.

Lucas: Father, where is my family?

Efrain: We've gathered here, awaiting your arrival.

Jaiden: Where is my wife?

Efrain: What wife?

Lucas and Jaiden exchange looks of shock.

Efrain: Son, and grandchildren, come in. We have guests.

Lucas: I want answers. Where is my family?

Dikson: Father, we will find them.

Valery notices the housekeeper looking nervous, removes the head covering, and approaches her abruptly, grasping the woman roughly.

Efrain: Who are you, and what are you doing with the housekeeper?

Valery: Where are they? Speak, or I'll have no issue killing you right here.

Maritza: I didn't know who they were, didn't let them in.

Lucas: A soldier came with them. Didn't he say they were my wife, son, and daughter-in-law?

Maritza: Yes, he said so, but I didn't believe him. You're a widower.

Valery: Dammit, they'd better be all right, or I'll have no problem severing your head.

Efrain: Lucas, what is this? You can't come into this house and threaten us. And who is this captain?

Angry for not knowing about her family, Valery looks at her grandfather with a glare: My nickname is the Devil.

Maritza's eyes widen, as everyone knew the captain's reputation—a cold-blooded, ruthless killer, just as the stories described.

The servant who was at the door enters and, seeing the situation, is frightened.

Servant: General, there's a soldier outside waiting for you or Commander Jaiden.

Hearing this, Valery releases the woman and heads straight to the door with her father, brothers, Marcos, and Lucas.

Soldier: General, I've finally found you. Your family is at my home. Commander, your wife has given birth.

Jaiden: Take us to your house, please.

Soldier: Yes, sir.

Everyone mounts their horses and follows the soldier to the humble house. Jaiden enters, finding Elizabeth and the new babies, with tears filling his eyes at the sight.

Elizabeth awakens: Love, we have a boy and a girl.

Jaiden: Thank you, my love. And I'm sorry, so sorry for everything.

Elizabeth: It's not your fault. We're okay.

Jaiden: Rest now, my life.

Jaiden exits, allowing his wife to rest.

Lucas: How are they, son?

Jaiden: They're well, a boy and a girl.

Everyone congratulates them on the birth of their children.

Sara: General, our home is small with only three rooms.

Valery: Thank you for your hospitality, ma'am. We can sleep outside in the courtyard.

Carlos: The stars are beautiful tonight.

Lucas: Thank you, ma'am, for helping my family. You and the women can sleep in the rooms; we will sleep outside.

Tatiana watches everyone with curiosity, her attention caught by the captain with delicate features.

And so they do—Greta, Angel, and Margo in one room, Tatiana and her grandmother in another, while Valery, accustomed to sleeping outdoors, beds down for the night.

Everyone settles to sleep in the courtyard, Carlos cracks jokes to lighten the mood, and hours later, all fall asleep.

The next day, Tatiana wakes early and sees everyone sleeping in the courtyard, including her brother, and prepares breakfast for all.

Greta gets up and calls to Lucas: Love.

Lucas: My love, I am sorry for what happened yesterday.

Greta: It wasn't your fault. Come, let's have breakfast.

Lucas looks at his daughter sleeping against a tree. He knows she has often slept thus, but returning home, this was unexpected.

Lucas: I will look for a mansion for us.

Greta: Why a mansion? I saw a lovely house with a yard and stables on our way here.

Lucas: As my wife wishes, so it shall be.

Valery: What will you do with them, Father?

Greta: Valery, they are your grandparents.

Tatiana looks over, having never thought her to be a woman: I'm sorry, you're a girl?

Valery eyes her: Yes.

Tatiana: I thought...

Valery: Don’t worry, it happens often. By the way, breakfast is great.

Everyone awakens and partakes in breakfast.

Valery: And your names?

Soldier: I am Francisco, this is my sister Tatiana, and my grandmother Sara.

Dikson: Are you one of the last soldiers sent by the king?

Francisco: Yes, Commander.

Valery smiles: Thank you for everything.

Francisco: Captain, how can I join the Shadow Squad?

Carlos looks at him: You must defeat the Devil.

Francisco: That's tough, he's a great captain.

Valery: In gratitude for caring for my family, I will train you.

Francisco: Thank you.

Tatiana and Sara watch as Valery teaches swordplay in the courtyard, impressed by Valery's skill with the blade.

Meanwhile, at the mansion, everyone is bewildered by the situation, especially as they were organizing an arranged marriage for Lucas and his children, with Valery's aunt wanting to marry her to a young man from an enlightened family.

After breakfast, Greta and Lucas go to see the house she liked—it's comfortable, with everything they need to live together. Lucas finalizes the purchase, paying more than what the seller asked. That same day, with great care, Jaiden carries Elizabeth in his arms, while Margo and Greta hold the babies, and Angel goes with his sister Valery.

Valery: Francisco, I’ll wait for you to continue training.
