Episode 5

Lucas is startled by a knock at the door and steps over to answer it.

Woman1: General, look how your daughter has treated my son.

The boy, quite large in stature and stocky, stood before them.

Greta makes her appearance.

Greta: How could my little girl do that? Your son is twice her size! Tell me, what did he do to my baby?

Woman1: What did you do?

Kid: I pulled her hair.

Greta: They attack my little girl and then come to complain about her. Such a big boy should be ashamed.

The woman glances at her son and storms off even more furious.

Lucas is about to speak when Margo announces that dinner is ready. He notices Carlos enter without a speck of mud on him.

Jaiden and Dixon burst into laughter, infectious to everyone there.

Marcos: And why aren't you covered in mud?

Valery: Because I can handle it myself.

Carlos: That's for sure.

Lucas: Let's have dinner. Tomorrow, little devil, you feed the horses, and Greta, not a word.

Greta heads to the dining room, muttering under her breath—a habit now—Marcos and his mother often exchange glances, noting how Greta seems more the wife to Lucas, scolding and caring, especially when it comes to Valery and the twins.

Dinner proceeds in silence, and, as every night, Valery kisses her father on the cheek and dashes off to her room.

Marcos and Lucas stay behind, talking.

Marcos: What are you going to do with Valery?

Lucas: I'm not sure yet.

Marcos: She is stubborn, brave, and decisive, the best archer, and she's made great progress with the sword.

Lucas: I don't want my daughter on the battlefield.

Marcos: We'll see when the time comes.

The friends retire for the night.

In the city, Leonardo rises early to see his son, and against all odds, Tomas is off to the training field. Leonardo arrives at the training grounds.

Javier: Your Majesty.

Leonardo: How are you, Javier?

Javier: Well, Your Majesty. What brings you here?

Leonardo: How is my son doing?

Javier: Doing well, he needs practice, but he has potential.

Leonardo: Did he tell you why he's training?

Javier: Yes, to protect a girl.

Leonardo: Which girl?

Javier: My niece.

Leonardo: And where is she now?

Javier: Back on the frontier. I knew her aunt wouldn't take care of her.

Leonardo: Keep me updated on Tomas' progress.

Javier: Of course, Your Majesty.

Leonardo returns to the castle, where everyone is having breakfast. He takes his seat and observes his sons.

Leonardo: Leo and German, begin your training. I want my sons to be strong.

Leo and German: Yes, father.

Midday sees Tomas return, utterly exhausted and filthy. He heads up to where the maids have prepared his bath. After cleaning himself, he joins his family for lunch, under his father's watchful gaze.

Post-lunch, he attends his lessons with Professor Leon, acquiring knowledge and a growing curiosity about governance, a topic he had never before shown interest in.

His father monitors all his progress with great satisfaction, curious about when he met General Roberson's daughter—a question he's eager to ask him.

Meanwhile, on the frontier, Valery grows increasingly skillful with the sword. Her brother Jaiden, who teaches her, is an excellent warrior himself.

Dixon, a master in martial arts, also imparts his combat techniques to his sister and their friends.

Despite it all, Valery misses her friend Tomas, always having thought of him as just a village boy.

Carlos: Val, is this Tomas guy any good in a fight?

Valery: No, ha! It was I who defended him.

Tadeo: Then now it's our turn to defend him.

Benjamin: We'll be the best soldiers in General Roberson's army.

Together they shout: Yes!!!
