The Vampire's Offer
Ethan sat in a quiet corner of the café, his gaze vacant as his fingers worked on his phone, counting his remaining balance.
Ethan
Why did I have to get fired when things are already so hard? My last paycheck won’t even last me a week
With a heavy head, Ethan let it rest gently against the table. Suddenly, a strange feeling of being watched caught his attention.
Ethan
(lifting head, glancing toward the corner of the café)
Ethan
Why does it feel like that guy’s been staring at me this whole time?
Ethan locked eyes with the man, who continued to watch him without blinking. Across the room, Lucas didn’t look away. Instead, he casually raised his glass and took a slow sip, almost as if he wanted Ethan to know he was watching.
Ethan
(standing up, walking toward Lucas’s table)
Ethan
Hey, do we know each other? Why have you been staring at me this whole time?
Ethan
Then why are you watching me?
(frowning)
Ethan
Okay, enough. Can you stop staring at me? It’s seriously annoying. You’re making me uncomfortable
Ethan turned to leave, but Lucas suddenly grabbed his wrist.
Lucas
Wait. You seem like you’re going through something big. Are you in trouble?
Lucas
It’s written all over your face. You look… frustrated
Ethan
That’s none of your business. So, just stay out of it.
Lucas
I can help you if you’d like
Lucas
As it happens, I’m looking for a servant to work at my mansion
Ethan froze. The offer sounded strange and way too sudden.
Ethan
How can I trust you? We don’t even know each other. What if you’re trying to scam me?
Lucas stood, his tall, commanding frame now visible. As the dim café light hit his face, Ethan noticed how strikingly handsome Lucas was.
Ethan stood there, momentarily stunned. He couldn’t help but notice the golden hue of Lucas’s eyes, shining like gemstones under the light.
Lucas
I’m only offering to help. I have no ill intentions. But it’s up to you. If you don’t want my offer, I’ll find someone else
Lucas’s words snapped Ethan out of his trance.
Ethan
(silent, processing Lucas’s words)
Lucas turned to leave, but this time Ethan grabbed his arm.
Lucas
(turning back, staring at Ethan)
Ethan
If I agree, what exactly would I have to do? And… how much does it pay?
Ethan bit his lip, weighing his options.
Ethan
I don’t have much of a choice. The money I have won’t last me another week. If he can really help me, I have to take this chance
(thinking)
Lucas
(stepping closer, standing directly in front of Ethan)
Lucas
Are you truly willing to become my servant?
Ethan
That depends on the pay
Lucas
I’ll give you anything you ask for—but only after you sign a contract with me
Ethan studied Lucas, searching for any hint of deceit. But Lucas seemed entirely serious, and the offer was too tempting to ignore.
Lucas
(leaning in, whispering into Ethan’s ear)
Lucas
Meet me in the restroom in two minutes
Lucas turned and walked away. Despite his doubts and confusion, Ethan decided to follow him.
Without warning, Lucas pulled Ethan into one of the stalls.
Lucas pushed Ethan against the stall wall and kissed him fiercely.
Ethan
Let me go!
(struggling)
But it was no use. Lucas was too strong. The kiss was overwhelming, leaving Ethan breathless. Summoning all his strength, Ethan managed to push Lucas away, but he was collapsing onto the toilet seat in the process.
Ethan
What the hell was that?! Are you trying to scam me? Or was this just an excuse to harass me?!
Lucas remained calm, wiping his lips with his hand.
Lucas
This was an inspection you needed to pass before I hire you
Ethan
Inspection? What do you mean?
Lucas
I needed to make sure you’re worthy of serving me
Ethan
Are you insane?! Do you think this is normal?!
Lucas
You agreed without thinking. Don’t blame me for testing your resolve
Ethan sat frozen, his breath heavy and his mind racing. Had he just made the worst decision of his life?
