Chapter 14

"What did you want to talk to me about," Akito asked as he drove them to Yong Chang restaurant. "I wanted to apologize for slapping you yesterday. I shouldn't have done it. I was just upset," Kane said looking at his hands. Akito pulled the car over and then turned to face Kane. "You don't have to apologize. I should've told you what was going on with Axel from the beginning," Akito said lifting Kane's face to look at him. "Still it was wrong of me to hit you," Kane said. Akito suddenly kissed Kane catching him off guard. Kane tried to push him away but eventually gave in. Akito pushed his hand under Kane's shirt causing Kane to flinch a little. Kane wrapped his arms around Akito's neck as the kissing deepened. After a few minutes, Akito broke the kiss and sat back in his seat. "Shall we go eat now," Akito asked smirking. Kane nodded hiding his face as it was bright red. Akito laughed and then started walking towards the restaurant. At the restaurant, they talked while they ate their meals. Afterward, they went for a walk through the park. "Akito why did you kiss me," Kane asked suddenly. "Cause I like you," Akito answered. "Since when," Kane asks. "Since I first saw you," Akito replied. "I don't know what to say here," Kane said looking down. "You never noticed," Akito said. "No," Kane replied. "Why do you think I've been doing all this for you? I even come to you when you call me. I went and found your brother after you told me what happened. I didn't tell you I was Snake 'cause I didn't want you to get hurt. I never told you how I felt 'cause I wasn't sure myself how I felt," Akito said lifting Kane's head. Kane suddenly hugged Akito causing him to nearly fall over. "I like you as well. That's why it hurt me whenever you lied to me about who you are," Kane said. "I won't lie to you no more Kane," Akito said as he winced a little. Kane broke the hug and stepped back. "Are you alright," Kane asked worriedly. Akito placed his hand on his side then removed it and looked down. "I'd say I am but I'd most likely be lying," Akito said looking back at Kane. Kane froze as he saw blood dripping from Akito's mouth. Akito suddenly collapsed onto the ground. Kane knelt beside him and lifted his shirt. There he saw a wound that was bleeding uncontrollably as the stitches had reopened. "Why didn't you say anything? I wouldn't have hugged you then," Kane said. "Ha I didn't want to ruin our night," Akito laughed.

"Arlo did he answer you," Veronica asked. "No and he's still not answering," Arlo replied. "We should just tell Tokoyami," Veronica said. "But he's mad at Akito," Kimberly stated. "He's hurt and is out there somewhere," Veronica said. "I'll go tell Tokoyami," Arlo said then ran upstairs and into Tokoyami's room. "What the hell Arlo? I've told you to knock before entering," Tokoyami shouted. "I'm sorry but it's about Akito," Arlo replied. "What about him? Didn't he go out with Kane a couple of hours ago," Tokoyami said standing up. "Yes but he's injured," Arlo said. "What do you mean," Tokoyami asked. "We found a bloody towel and he used your medical bag as well since I found it in the bathroom," Arlo said. "He's probably not as injured as you think," Tokoyami said sighing. "Tokoyami he needs help. We have been trying to call him but he not answering his phone. Something is going on," Arlo shouted. "OK, I'll try to get ahold of him. Let's go drive around maybe we'll find his car," Tokoyami said. As they drove around Tokoyami kept calling Akito. As he was getting ready to hang up someone answered the phone. "Hello," Kane answered. "Kane where are you guys," Tokoyami asked. Arlo looked over at him worriedly. "We're in the park near Yong Chang restaurant. Kinda by the pond," Kane said sniffling. "We're on our way, Kane. How's he doing right now," Tokoyami said. "He coughed up blood and is unconscious right now. His wound is bleeding uncontrollably and I've been trying to get it to stop," Kane replied. "Ok Kane keep applying pressure we just arrived at the park and will be there soon," Tokoyami said. "Alright," Kane replied sniffling. "I see them," Arlo said. "We see you guys Kane. I'm going to hang up now alright," Tokoyami said. "Ok," Kane said sniffling. Tokoyami and Arlo ran over to them. Arlo pulled Kane out of the way and tried to comfort him. "You did good Kane," Arlo said. Kane didn't say anything and just stood there crying. Tokoyami removed his jacket and threw it at Arlo. "Wrap that around him its cold out here," Tokoyami said. Arlo wrapped the jacket around Kane. Tokoyami removed Kane's jacket from Akito's wound. The bleed had finally stopped so Tokoyami carefully removed the broken stitches. He restitched them and then wrapped the wound. Tokoyami wiped the blood from Akito's mouth then tried to wake him. "Akito wake up. You'll catch a cold out here," Tokoyami said gently slapping him. Kane started coughing as it was freezing out and he was without a jacket for too long. "Tokoyami Kane's gonna get a cold," Arlo said. "Take him back to the house," Tokoyami said. "No I'm not leaving," Kane said. "How you gonna get him," Arlo asked. "I saw Akito's car earlier. Once I get him to wake up we'll be home. We don't need Kane getting too sick. Akito would kill us," Tokoyami said. "Ok come Kane," Arlo said slowly pulling him away. Kane looked back as they walked away.

"Here take these. They're Akito's so they might be a little big on you. There's a towel on the sink in the bathroom for you to use. Veronica is making you some soup. It'll be down by the time you get out," Arlo said. "Thanks," Kane said. He took the clothes then headed upstairs to the bathroom. After the shower, Kane went back downstairs and into the kitchen. "Here you are Kane," Veronica said setting a bowl of soup down in front of him. "Thanks," Kane said then began to eat. After he finished he washed his bowl and spoon then went into the living room. But before he could walk over the couch the door opened and Tokoyami walked in with Akito. "How bad is he," Kimberly asked. "Not that bad," Akito answered. "His wound reopened that's about it. This dumbass just needs to be more careful," Tokoyami added. Akito laughed as he sat down on the couch. "Give me a minute and I'll help you upstairs," Tokoyami said. He went into the other room with Arlo and the girls. Kane sat down beside Akito. "I was worried you know," Kane said. "I know and I'm sorry," Akito said as he gently stroked the side of Kane's face. "You feeling alright Kane your face is a little warm," Akito said. "I might be getting a cold but don't worry," Kane answered. "Kane are you staying here, cause if you want to go home I can take you," Arlo said walking into the room. "If it's ok I'll stay here," Kane replied. "Alright I'll let Tokoyami know," Arlo said. "Are you gonna be ok sharing Akito's room with him," Tokoyami asked. "Um yea that's fine," Kane said looking at Akito. "Good cause we turned the extra room into an office," Arlo said. "Akito let's go ahead and get you upstairs," Tokoyami said as he walked over to Akito. Kane helped Akito up off the couch then Tokoyami wrapped his arm around him. He led them up the stairs and into Akito's room. "Alright, Akito if you want anything tell Kane or holler for one of us," Tokoyami said then left.

Akito woke in the middle of the night to Kane panting heavily. He sat up carefully and placed his hand on Kane's forehead. Akito opened the drawer to the nightstand and pulled out some medicine. He grabbed the cup of water off the nightstand then gently woke up Kane. "Here take this. It will help with your fever," Akito said. Kane sat up and took the medicine from him. After that, he drank the water and laid back down. "Thank you Akito," Kane said. "No problem," Akito replied. He watched as Kane slept peacefully beside him before laying back down. Arlo entered the room quietly and carefully. "Do you need something Arlo," Akito asked. "Tokoyami sent me to check on you. He heard some noises and you guys talking," Arlo replied. "I'm alright. I was just giving Kane some medicine," Akito replied. "Oh is he alright," Arlo asked. "He's running a fever. Most likely getting a cold," Akito replied. "Oh alright well let me if you need anything," Arlo said then left. "Akito," Kane said. "Yea," Akito replied. "I am sorry for how I acted," Kane said. "It's alright Kane and honestly I don't blame you," Akito replied. "O...kay," Kane said falling back asleep. Akito chuckled a little before setting his phone down. He lay there watching Kane sleep before falling asleep himself.
