Chapter 4

Tuesday, 19th May, 2020

Dear Diary,

When I went to school today Grace was waiting for me. She said that there was going to be an inter-school soccer competition. She asked whether I wanted to go there or not. I denied saying that I didn't want to meet Carter right now and that I needed some time. I really want to avoid him at all cost.

But my future didn't plan that for me. While coming back from the cafeteria I heard Carter calling me. I really wanted to avoid him but couldn't as he was too near.

Carter: Iris, did you hear about the inter-school soccer competition. It's going to take place this Friday.

Me: Yeah

Carter: Umm..... You are going to come there, right.

Me: Well...... I haven't decided yet.

Carter: Come on, you have to come and cheer for me.

Me: Why do you need me to cheer for you, Sophie will be there, right.

Carter: Yeah she will be there. But still you have to come.

Me: Well I'll try.

Carter: Okay.

Me: Okay.. so bye.

Carter: Yeah bye.

I really don't want to go to that soccer competition and see Sophie with Carter. But there was no way I could tell that to Carter. Why did he have to date Sophie? And that too right before I decided to confess. The soccer competition is going to be one sad day for me.

Other than that today we were told about our chemistry assignment which we had to do with a partner. I was partnered with the new transfer student Zatch. I could feel the gaze of the other girls on me. Some of them even tried to persuade ma'am to make them Zatch's partner. He sure is popular. Just transferred here yesterday and already girls want to be his girlfriend. Something I can never relate with. Oh! but ma'am didn't allow them to change their partners. Well, I personally don't have a problem with anyone so I won't mind that. Still it's the teacher's decision.

I went to talk with him about the project and he was really nice and friendly. I understand why guys like them are popular. He is kind of like Carter actually, their personalities are quite similar. He didn't seem to mind doing the assignment with me. That's a good thing. I thought he really wanted to do the assignment with the popular and pretty girls.

Grace was partnered with Dave. Dave is a really quite boy ( even more of a loner than me and that's quite impressive). She was going on about how lucky I was to get a handsome partner. I think she actually sometimes forgets that she has a boyfriend, but that's Grace for you.

After school I went to my part time job as usual. But something unusual happened there. A new boy started working at Wake up Cafe from today. And I know him. It's Zach. I was really surprised when I saw him. I think he was too. By the way I have been told to help him with work as he is new. Still I can't get over the fact that both of us will be working at the same cafe. We are surely crossing paths many times.
