THE MURDER ON 16th,APRIL 1984

It was dark inside the room and some noises can be

heard. A man spoke “Finn stop laughing already!” another voice can be heard

which sounded small and soft like a girl’s” can you guys switch on the lights,

please?” as she finished her sentence a dim yellow light was turned on. It was

a small room which was void of any decoration, there was a small table and six

chairs in the name of furniture and nothing else. It has a small window outside

it was darkness it indicated that it was deep into the night time. Five people

were inside the room all of them looked like teenagers. A boy with curly hairs

and skinny figure who was laughing earlier spoke“ I had told you guys to not

come at so late in the night, but none of you listened to me.”

A boy with glasses said in agreement ” Finn is right

this time we should have waited till tomorrow morning.”

Finn was pleased by getting his friend Arthur’s

agreement” Finally someone who has some sense!”

When Finn said these remaining three people’s face

darkened in anger. At that moment the two twin girls can’t help but scoffed and

argued.”Hey, why didn’t you think sense and logic when Grace planned the nigh

tout on your birthday Finn” Said the short girl. While the tall girl added,

”You should also remember the time when you fought with your parents and left

your house to end up inside the lock-up. It was also the same Grace who wasted

her sleep and went through all the trouble to get you out without your parents

knowing anything.”

“So, Should I miss my match tomorrow morning just

because she helped me in the past” Scoffed Finn.

At this point the guy who was silent all the while can’t

take it anymore and grabbed Finn’s collar angrily “Are you worried for your

fu**ing match when she is going through all this trouble. She is involved in all

this trouble just because of you what rights you have to shrug her off now!”

“Oh is that so! Then tell me where is that w***e right

now? Let me wake you up from your dreams, she doesn’t need us at all Rick.”

Finn shouted.

The twins were looking nervously as the scene unfolded

before them. The short girl muttered to her slightly taller sister” Lucy where

is Grace? Call her hurry up.”

“I am worried that something is not right Lacy, I have

called her seven times by now and she didn’t answer.”

Arthur heard their murmur and asked the twins ”She is

out of reach since when?”

Lucy answered,” Since we talked to her in the morning.”

Arthur was shocked to hear it and shouted at Rick and

Finn who were displaying their vigor in fighting” Stop already you both! Did

any of you talked to her before coming here?”

Hearing the usually calm Arthur shout so loudly they both stopped instantly.

What catch their attention more was his question.

Finn instantly answered” No, it was in the morning after

pt class when I last talked to her.”

Rick was scared when he realized the severity of the

situation he looked at Lucy and Lacy as he asked in worried tone” Are you two

also unable to contact her?”

He received two affirmative nods in the answer.”Let’s go

to her house, we can’t leave her alone in this situation.”

Arthur got scared the

moment Rick mentioned leaving their secret hideout.”Are you sure we can leave

here and nothing will happen to us?”

Rick was irritated at the

selfishness of Arthur and Finn. He declared” It doesn’t matter if you are

coming or not but I won’t leave her alone to die!”

Lacy and Lucy looked

determined as well after hearing him,” we are also coming” said Lucy.

Lacy looked at Finn and

Arthur in questioning manner” What about you two?”

Finn’s face was split in a

weird look” I have no such dying wish!”

Arthur also agreed,” I can’t

do such a foolish thing either.”

Rick looked at both of his friends with disdain” I have never seen

anyone as coward and as double faced person as you two! Especially you Finn, I regret

it now, so bad.”

Lacy reminded him,” We can’t

waste any more time on this back stabbers, let’s go!”

As the three of them left

the room they heard a frustrated cry coming from the inside. But they didn’t

have time to think about any of this. When they came out it was totally dark

and there wasn’t even a single soul to be seen around. Particularly this was

the reason why they choose this place as their hide out for the time being.

But they didn’t know

everything would still happen regardless of where they hide. They walked for a

long time before finding a cab, as Lucy gave the address” 7th street

opposite Grey river”The fear was evident on

their faces as they moved forward slowly on the road. For a long time no one

uttered a word and it was deadly silent when they heard driver’s voice” We are

here.” Lacy and Lucy ran towards Graces house as Rick was paying for the cab.

Lacy was running forward

when she heard Lucy scream” aaahh..” she stopped instantly, Rick who was behind

them ran forward. When they reached where Lucy was standing, Lacy asked “What

happ…” she stopped mid sentence as she looked were Lucy was looking. Rick was

also stunned to see the blood that was on the road.

It looked like someone’s

footprints. Big step which left bloody marks behind. When Rick looked further

this prints where coming out of Grace’s house. He ran in desperation towards

the house while the twins followed him .

As soon as Rick got to the

door he started banging it hard, ”Grace are you there? Open the door!”

There was no answer from

the inside after a few second’s all of them panicked. Lacy moved forward and

shouted” Mrs. Bridgestone, Are you home?”

There was no answer still,

Rick looked in the watch to find that it was three in the morning.” Why are

they not home this late?”

Lucy was scared and nervous

as she spoke with trembling voice” isn’t today her father’s birthday may be they

are celebrating it somewhere!”

Lacy didn’t think the same,”

who would go celebrating birthday’s while their daughter is on brink of death? And

isn’t his birthday supposed to be tomorrow?

Rick thought for awhile and

said” It is already after midnight so it is possible that they have gone to

celebrate as to change Grace’s mood”

Lacy looked the date in her

cell phone it displayed April, 16th 1984. But she was still

suspicious “What about the footprints then?”Rick and Lucy were also

thinking, the same deep down. But what else could it be? Her parents were also

not around it was the most possible scenario.

Rick said after some

thinking” We will check again in the morning, let’s go for now it’s not safe

here.”

They were still speaking

when all the noise become faint and faint the darkness of the night was

replaced with sunshine and there was a different voice.

“April, are you okay? Hey what

happened wake up!”

April opened her eyes to

see a familiar face. It was her childhood friend Joseph who lived opposite to

her house.

“Someday this thing will

kill me” she spoke as she stood up from the ground.

Joseph was still kneeling

on the ground as he watched April stand up” My god April! What will kill you? Are

you sick? Let’s go to the hospital” he stood up and grabbed April’s hand

leading her towards his bike.

April stopped him and said “Joseph I am not sick and definitely

not dying yet either!”

Joseph looked worriedly at her and asked in angry tone, ”If

you are not sick then were you looking for diamonds on the ground ,and there is

blood coming out of your nose!”

April shook her head in exaggeration” give me your

handkerchief” as Joseph passed her the handkerchief she spoke while wiping her

nose and lips “See it is nothing serious I probably passed out due to stress

and anxiety, you know me I am especially afraid of exams, nothing other than

that.”

Joseph was not convinced “we will know if it is stress

or not once the doctor checks you up!”

“Dude you are giving me more pressure just by saying all

this stuff I am perfectly fine. You won’t give me more stress by pestering me

or mentioning today’s accident to dad and Rowan right?”

Joseph sighed in defeat, ”Okay as you wish! But I am

dropping you home and there shouldn’t be any arguments over this,”

April smiled brightly” Then let’s go I still need to

complete my assignments”

Within minutes

they reached outside April’s house. Joseph was still worried and said” Are you

sure you are fine?”

April rolled her eyes and said in joyously “ Should I jump

around to show you I am fine ? Trust me I am , you know it is nothing new with me

fainting around” she laughed as she continue to speak” it happens to me once in

a while since I was a child and it would be weird if it doesn’t happen someday,

right?”

Joseph agreed after much persuasion “ Okay but inform me

if anything is wrong.”

April replied” I will now stop nagging me already! You look

scarier than my dad when you speak like that.”

“Then I am leaving now I have to help my dad out today.”

“Okay, goodbye! I will return your handkerchief after

washing it!

Joseph nodded and left reluctantly on his bike.

Joseph is a sweet boy no doubt but he can

be quiet annoying at sometimes with clinginess and extra care which she never

needed. April thought about the vision she had and it was related to something

she had seen before. At that thought she ran inside and took out the key from

the small flower pot on the wall.

She

entered inside and closed the door. She first entered the kitchen and grabbed a

bottle of cold water from the fridge. She finished the whole bottle in one go. Seeing

visions drained her of energy, leaving her cold and thirsty often. She doesn’t

like to talk much but she had to talk so much in order to convince Joseph,

which also made her hungry.As she

looked inside the fridge in search of food ,there were three small boxes

with a note on the box’ even if you are super hungry heat the food before you

eat’ as always dad knows her the best. She smiled and took the boxes out. “Sorry

dad, I have so much to do and have little time I can’t afford heating the food,

sigh”

She opened the boxes and quickly finished all the food and

cleaned all the dishes and whole kitchen. Her dad is a very responsible father

who works 9 to 5 and also does household chore. He never let her work as long

as it was possible. Today he was for sure running late thanks to her pig of a

brother and it would be the reason why it was messy in the kitchen.

After she was done she went into her room and quickly pulled out the red diary. She entered the bathroom to take a bath with her diary. Inside the bath tub was full of hot water

and sent of lemon flavored shower gel relaxed her sour muscles and mind. She

written it all down from the vision she had earlier.

After half an hour she checked the information she had written about last night's vision.

It can’t be a coincidence that in

her first vision she saw a man with bleeding feet and in the next there were

bloody foot prints.

She tried to find other similarities but she did not

recall much from her first vision, which made it harder. Then she opened her

laptop and started to search about details of the vision she had today.

When she searched for the address it did not show

anything but when she typed Grey River there were many results along with the

photos. After clicking through several photos she found a photo looking same as her vision the same grass, the same bench, the same tree,the same night lamp and the very same lake. It check marked all the boxes.

She printed a mini sized version of the photo and Paste

it into her diary. Next she searched   the date 16th, April 1984 in

Tio-tech city and bingo, there was a news heading, ’The murder on the romantic

lake.’
