Chapter 5 Goodbye Lilith

I was standing in the entrance to the 1st layer, watching as Lilith left. The only thing I could see was her back. I wanted to stay with her, but I didn’t want to stay there, in that kind of place. I just wanted to be done with bad memories and create happy ones instead. From now on I would have to try to create some happy ones without Lilith, and that couldn’t be hard since I had Sari.

*I hope next time we meet Lilith it will be under better circumstances*

*Don’t worry Miria, you’ll meet her again*

Sari was still wrapped around my body like if she was one big piece of jewel I was wearing. I turned around and walked back to the cave. The waterfall had returned along with the lake still shimmering like a clean mirror. And it was still as captivating as before. Sari slithered down my body and went in to the lake. Sari returned to her former giant state. From then on, my training began. I repeated the things Sari had told me to do all day long. I knelt at the foot of the lake and tried to bring out what I once saw in my reflection, but it never changed like it did back then when Lilith was with me.

*Try closing your eyes and focus. It doesn’t matter what you see in a mere reflection when you just have to feel it*

I did as she said and tried to bring out the power from before. Suddenly I felt danger, like something big wanted to hurt me but it was already too late. A huge crash made me open my eyes. I was lying in a pile of rocks and my body had gone numb. I couldn’t make sense of what was happening, but I believe Sari just smacked my whole body into the stone wall. I felt too tired to even keep my eyes from closing.

*Didn’t I tell you to concentrate?*

The whole cave was shaking as the water level rose. The water reached me and suddenly my body felt lighter. All the pressure from before disappeared instantly. When I opened my eyes, I was back to kneeling in front of the lake. This place is full of surprises and so is Sari.

“Do you have to hit me like that?”

Sari didn’t answer me, but I noticed that she looked hurt. Not physically hurt, it seemed like her heart was aching. Was she perhaps pained to see me get hurt?

I sighed and closed my eyes, and this time went deep into my emotions, I felt Sari too. Afterall she was part of me from the moment I gave her, her name. But I ignored her and focused on digging deeper. All of a sudden, I felt nothing, not like before when I was lying numb in the pile of rocks, it was the good kind of nothingness. My body was relaxed, and I took deep and calm breaths, it felt good. Even though I had closed eyes, I saw a golden colored light glistering in a black void.

*Looks like you found the source*

I was taken aback by how clear Sari’s voice was. As if crystals were hanging from above, playing in a breeze making the crystals slightly bump into each other and making a beautiful melody. I opened my eyes once again but this time when I looked down at my reflection my appearance had changed. Only this time I my body didn’t keep those cat like features. I still had my sharp claws and the vertical pupils that cats and snakes shared. My tail was gone, and my ears weren’t cat like, but they were slightly pointed. And once more, my hair was pitch black with somewhat gold in it. The hair of mine now reached the ground. The runes had also appeared, I didn’t have the chance to look closer before, but I did now, and I saw that the runes were more likely tattoo like symbols. The symbols resembled roses, not like the withered and pale roses that small insects would chew on. The roses on my body looked fresh and healthy with their thorny vines seeming to bandage and bundle around my body.

*Try willing your body back to normal*

Sari spoke, not as clear as before though. I did as she said and succeeded. As was now as pale as before with a slight redness in my cheeks. I didn’t have to wait for Sari to tell me to transform once again to see if I had regained control of this power within me.

*Good, now let’s see if you can use it in a fight*

without Without knowing it, I smiled brightly, showing my hardly noticeable sharp teeth that would resemble small fangs.
