Mira wants warmer room

The first day after coming to the fantasy world, Mira got her first goal, which was to get a new and big room with a lock in it.

While waiting for her parents, she rummaged through the stuff in her room. She found a few books.

She also found four pairs of wearable clothes, all of which were full-sleeved. Other clothes were torn and sewn lots of times and could not be worn. They could only be used as scraps to clean.

There was an old bronze mirror. She did not find any cosmetics, not even a moisturizer. Her parents had bought them for her, but grandma would always take them and give them to her cousin. The only two black rubbers she had were the ones she was tying her hair with.

She, a nameless agent, in her previous life, would get wages monthly for livelihood. She had learnt makeup and bought lots of cosmetics that she would use during her missions.

The nameless agent also had a big mansion-like house all to herself. Though she rarely stayed in the house because of having to travel a lot for missions, she owned the house. Even when travelling to different places for missions, unless for rare situations, she would always stay in an ample and spacious hotel room.

Thinking of her past life, the nameless agent, who had now become Mira, packed all the usable things from the

room.

She then went to the kitchen and started to cook dinner. She looked at the food provisions and cooked rice, potatoes and eggs. There was flour in the kitchen, but she could not find any spices necessary for cooking. There was not even much oil in the oil jar. The egg was already a delicacy for their family. She, once again, sighed at the situation since she could not cook anything even if she had cooking skills.

Hearing the light hustle and bustle outside, Mira walked out of the kitchen. The sun was setting on the horizon. She saw mother Cole washing hands and feet in the courtyard. Mother Cole was like any imaginable typical mother in a village. She was wearing full sleeve clothes like grandma and herself.

Father Cole, whose hands were on Daniel’s ear, was coming from afar. As they came nearer, upon hearing the voices of Daniel crying and begging his father not to pull his ears so hard, Grandma Cole ran outside the house and ordered her son to immediately stop pulling Her precious grandson’s ear.

Father Cole, like always, pushed seven-year-old Daniel into the middle of the courtyard to scold him. Grandma Cole ran to Daniel and started comforting him. “Dan. My precious baby. Do not cry. Blah-blah.”

“If I see you playing in the mud again with those bad kids, just know you will be beaten.” Warned father Cole coldly. He then turned to his mother and helplessly complained, “Mother, do not spoil him so much. Instead of coming home directly from school, he was playing in the dirt without changing clothes again today. He does not even know how hard it is to wash clothes. His sister, in order to let him study, has not been going to school even though she is so good at studies and he, on the other hand, is skipping school and playing around.  If this goes on, in the future, he might even walk into a gang and become a criminal.”

Mira just listened to them and went inside the kitchen without saying a word. She set the table with food and just

when she was about to go out to call everyone, one by one, mother Cole, father Cole, Daniel who was happily eating sweets, grandma Cole and grandpa Cole came inside.

Everyone sat down at the dinner table and started eating.

“Are you alright now, Mira? You skipped dinner last night, saying you were not feeling well. You did not even eat in the morning. Did you go to medical with your grandmother? I left some money with her.” Mother Cole asked with concern.

From Mira’s memory, the nameless agent found that mother Cole and father Cole had gone to the City to sell the vegetables and had come just yesterday. They did not even know that Mira had been starving for three days when they were not at home. Apart from that, they thought grandmother, who had starved her, would generously send her to the health post. Lack of communication was indeed the biggest problem between them.

Mira saw her grandmother glaring at her, trying to warn her to lie like always. Though Mira did not want to lie, she also could not talk about abuse from her grandparents right in front of them. Firstly, Mira’s parents might not believe her and even if they do believe, it would change nothing.

So, she changed the topic to her own advantage and said, “Mom, I am fine. It’s just my head has been aching too

much these days and my body is also very weak. Maybe it’s because the room I am currently staying in is very cold. Mom, can I move to the empty east-facing room? That room is much warmer.”
