“What? What are you staring at me for? Do you think you deserve to eat without working? You are already seventeen this year. If you become disrespectful to your elders like this, do you think anyone will want you?”

Seeing Mira not budging from there, Grandma had no choice but to walk away. After all, she could not hit Mira. If Mira, after being beaten, goes to her parents to complain, they might believe Mira and question her. They might even find out about many other things she has been doing secretly.

“NO. Nothing. My head is still aching a lot. So I will be in resting for today.” replied Mira in a professional tone and without looking back at dazed grandma Cole, she strode towards her room in big steps.

She looked at her own room and felt helpless again. The outlook of the village and the rest of the house was 100 times better than her own room. The original owner was always given enough clothes and things by her adoptive parents, but grandma would just take them all away.

Pansy, her cousin, i.e. elder daughter of Uncle and Aunt Cole would get all her new clothes while all the good things would be given to Daniel. And Mira would never speak back to them.

Even when her parents asked her, she would just say that she herself gave them away. She was beyond saving.

Anyway, now she, a nameless agent was here, she would live a normal life without being oppressed, suppressed or ordered around.

Foremost, she had to tidy her room.

No, she has to talk to her parents about changing rooms. It’s not like their house did not have any decent room. After renovation, there were even extra rooms in the house.

It’s just, Mira did not think of herself as part of the family and felt like she did not deserve the room.

Mira did say, she would clean the room and use it. But the room was depleted more and more over the year. After all, how could Mira even get a chance to clean the room when she had to work 24/7?

On top of working, Grandma, who saw her as an eyesore, would always order her around whenever she saw her hands free. Even if she were to clean her room the next day, the room would still be a complete mess when grandma searched it in hopes of finding something secretly given to her by her parents.

There was not even a proper lock on the door. Upon looking closely, she found holes in the door. She looked at the roof, but thankfully there were not any gaps or openings. The roof of the room was renovated along with the rest house, but not the doors and windows of this room. The white colour had started falling off a long time ago, and it looked like a ghost room.
