“I think the cooperation will go well. We look forward to working together.” Yoshio and his dad bowed to Mr. Takada as his left.
“Agreed, also I’ll try to find an opportunity for you to meet my granddaughter,” Takada winked and left the VIP room.
Yoshio sat down with a very defected thud as the servers cleared the table.
“What’s on your mind son,” his dad sat down beside him.
“Why is it that everyone want to marry me off to a random women I don’t like and they don’t like me.” Yoshio ran his fingers through his hair and sat back in the air.
He was at his wits ends with this. At every turn he was being proposed a marriage arrangement. He just want to be left to carve out his own path to marriage. He knew it would not be the same as everyone else’s but it was going to be his.
“Sorry son, I guess I’m partly to blame,” his dad said looking at him with a frown.
“Why do you say this father. You’ve been the best father anyone could ask for. “ Yoshio looked at his dad.
He was glad that he had a father like his. They have always been close and dependent on each other. If it was for his mom Yoshio would be insane from all her nagging.
“If I were a poor man whom raised and honest and poor son no one would care. But I have wealth and power which I give to you no matter who you choose as a bride. So they don’t see you they see your influence. They see second wealthiest man in the country, seventh wealthiest man in the world. That’s what you are to them.” His dad said patting his son on the shoulder.
“ I want a woman who sees me and not what I have,” Yoshio said taking a deep breath.
“Do you think such a woman exists?” He asked looking at his father.
“I will pray that this woman will come to you. Let’s go home,” dad said and they left the restaurant.
Elizabeth looked at her son asleep in his bed. He told her everything that happened. She felt really bad Yoshio was nearly taken from her.
“I don’t know what to do?” She laid her head next to him and sobbed.
Tomorrow Yoshio would have to walk to her work on his own again. Except this time her heart would be beating fast and her nerves would be on edge. She climbed into bed and cuddled her son. Elizabeth couldn’t sleep her mind raced with the worse case scenario all night long.
The following morning the sun poured through the window. Elizabeth woke to find her arms empty.
“Yoshio!” She screamed and dashed out of bed. Her heart was racing as she pushed the bedroom door open.
“Good morning mommy,” Yoshio was sitting at the table eating cereal.
“Yoshio!” She raced over to him and pulled him into her arms. The spoon feel to the ground spilling some of the cereal. She hugged Yoshio and cried.
“Mommy what’s wrong?” Yoshio hugged his mom.
“Nothing mommy is just happy to see you this morning,” she put him down and wiped the tears away from her eyes.
“I’m happy to see you too,” he smiled happily and hugged her some more.
“Finish you cereal, I’ll clean up this mess, and pack your lunch,” she put him down and went into the kitchen. Elizabeth broke down in tears again in the kitchen. She just couldn’t shake the idea of him being in danger.
Outside school
“Bye mommy have a good day at work,” Yoshio waved as his mom walked away.
“I love you, be good at school,” Elizabeth said blowing a kiss at Yoshio as he walked into the school building.
Inside school
“Yoshio!” Ming ran over to him with a big smile.
“Hi Ming,” Yoshio said and she took his hand. They walked to class together.
“Can we eat lunch together today?” Ming asked as they got in line outside the classroom door to wait for the teacher.
“Okay,” Yoshio said.
“Yeah!” Ming held his hand and jumped up and down.
“Good morning students. Put you backpacks down,” the teacher said and everyone filed into the classroom.
After school
Later that day Yoshio began walking down the street to his mom’s job. His heart was racing and he was scared from what happened the day before. His legs and arms were shaking and he could feel tears beginning to well up in his eyes.
‘No’ Yoshio fell to the ground on his knee in the same spot where he was saved the day before. He couldn’t move the only thing he kept thinking about was the truck zooming passed him. The was loud noise and he jerked backwards.
“ Yoshio?” Yoshio asked as him and Assistant Li reached the entrance of the company.
“What’s wrong?” Yoshio scooped him up in his arms. Yoshio just started crying and didn’t answer. The big tears just damped Yoshio suit coat as more and more tears kept on coming.
“Talk to me.” He said again, patting Yoshio’s back to sooth him. Yoshio sniffled as he pulled away to look Yoshio in the face.
“I’m scared to cross the street,” Yoshio said hugging Yoshio’s neck. He started crying again. It broke Yoshio’s heart to hear his sobbing.
“Sir we don’t have time for this. We need to inspect the construction site,” Li mentioned as he tapped the face of her watch to emphasize the time.
“We’re both going to the same place. Yoshio will you come with me to check out the construction site your mom works at,” He asked and Yoshio nodded his head without looking up.
“That solve are problem Assistant Li.” Yoshio held Yoshio and the walked down to the crosswalk. Assistant Li looked at her boss as they walked. He look so happy and proud to be carrying this little boy in his arms.
“It looks good on you boss,” Assistant Li said as they crossed the street.
“What looks good on me?” Yoshio asked confused as he robbed Yoshio’s back.
“The dad look,” she smiled as they reached the other side of the road. The two bodyguards following behind them.
“He’s gotten heavier,” Yoshio said lifting Yoshio higher on his shoulder.
“That’s because he’s asleep sir,” Assistant Li chuckled a bit as the reached the manager, the architect, and the supervisor. All three men were waiting near the entrance of the site. No one thought to question the little boy in Yoshio’s arms.
“Welcome Mr. Yamada,” they said and bowed.
“Thank you. I’ll get straight to the point. What progress have we made on the site? Why are you behind?” Yoshio asked directly as the men looked at him.
“Well part of the problem is we only have one heavy equipment operator, we have less employees than we need, and we’re having issues getting a fair price on some of the materials from the Tosha company.” The manager explained.
“Then we get the materials from another company,” Yoshio suggested as he lifted Yoshio up to his shoulder.
“We could but the steel beams we need are only manufactured and sold by the Tosha company. We dug and poured the foundation and have began some frame work. We can take a walk around and the architect can give you walk through of the plans.” The manager said handing Yoshio a helmet. The supervisor came back with another helmet.
“This is for the young master,” the supervisor said and handed Yoshio another helmet. He put the helmet on Yoshio’s small head and it slipped off.
“Do you have a smaller one?” Yoshio asked handing the helmet to Assistant Li.
“No, Mr. Yamada we normally don’t have children on construction sites.” The manager said bowing.
“Then we’ll have the walkthrough next week and I’ll get the purchasing Department to figure out the buying of the materials. “ Yoshio said.
“Yes, Mr. Yamada,” the men said.
Yoshio, Assistant Li, and the two bodyguards walked back to the entrance of the construction site.
