Hours had passed, and Mary was searching for Alessa through the forest. She, like a wolf, had alerted the duchy guards, warning them about the attack. The brown-haired man who had been at breakfast a few days ago was furious, and although he knows that blood will be shed because of what has happened, he is terribly worried. This is a catastrophe.
Mary met up with the man and they continued searching until one of the trackers indicated that they have the scent. They have found her, but at the same time, they haven't. They can't see her, but they know she's there.
“Madam Mary, we have found Lady Alessa’s scent, but she cannot be seen. Furthermore, the atmosphere in that place is strange. We sense a threat we cannot identify,” said her tracker, while Mary frowned.
“Take me to her. I want to see what is happening,” she said as she made her way to the site. Dawn was breaking, but when they arrived Mary was left speechless. At that moment, she was understanding the situation. Looking at the old molle tree, she could see its haughty and imposing posture.
Neil, the brown-haired man, looks at the situation and wants to approach, but Mary stops him as soon as she sees the branches of the tree shaking. She had never seen that before. There was no wind, there was nothing to make that happen.
“Neil, don’t move, don’t take a single step,” said Mary, staring at the menacing old tree.
Mary curtsied politely. She should never underestimate any existing creature. She knows that even the small snail can hold your life in its resistant shell.
“Old molle, I am Mary Lacost, a wolf from the Black Moon pack. I am looking for Lady Alessa. Last night some renegade she-wolves attacked the carriage. I could not defend her as I wanted. If I transformed in front of her, it would scare her more. I am worried. I want to take her home. Those responsible will be severely punished. Help me take her safely,” said Mary humbly. She could smell the blood of those damned women there. That meant that something unprecedented had happened, although she sensed it, she felt it from the beginning.
The old tree creaked noticeably, its branches swaying severely. It was indignant. Its annoyance was visible. Mary pulled Neil to make him bow. The man did so immediately. He had noticed that things were really complicated.
The surrounding trees began to creak in conversation. Mary looked around and realized they were in an area where the oldest trees in the forest had lived for over a century.
Mary listened as the roots that made up a small fortress returned to the deep soil, revealing the beautiful girl sleeping on a soft bed of flower petals.
Neil was shocked. Mary couldn't help but shed a tear seeing Alessa unharmed and so well cared for.
Mary looked at the old molle and approached it respectfully.
"Thank you, thank you for taking care of her, but… could you tell me, is she…?" Mary still couldn't say it. It would be crazy.
A branch leaned towards Mary, who took it in her hands, receiving the answer from the centenary guardian, stunned. Her tears rushed even faster. Now she is sure that things are going to change drastically.
Mary pulled Neil, who doesn't understand anything but approaches respectfully after seeing them converse. It seemed they had been given permission to take the beautiful young woman away.
Neil lifted Alessa, who is still unconscious, into his arms. Mary is sure that she must have been very impressed, so they had to give her time.
They took the girl away in silence, but what impressed them most was that the trees around them, as they reached the carriage that had arrived for them, creaked. It was as if they were greeting the girl in his arms.
When they arrived at the mansion, Celia was a crying mess. They wouldn't let her go look for her sister, but seeing her brought life back into her body.
Mary left Alessa in her bed being attended to by Celia, who is the best one to care for her, but when they both came out, Mary put her hand on her chest, trying to calm down.
“Neil, we need to talk. That little girl in there is a gift from the gods. The emperors don't know what they have rejected, they don't know what they have lost and what… but the thing is that now their enemy has her. This is going to be a big change.”
They both arrived at Draco's study and sat down while Mary was still touched by the situation.
“Mary, speak up, please, you’re making me nervous,” said Neil, who is the Beta of the pack.
“Neil, listen to me carefully. What you saw is an awakening of nature that does not happen with just anyone. Alessa is not just the daughter of a duke, she is an Empress Nymph. She is a high-ranking nymph. She is like the 7 nymphs in one. Gods fell in love with nymphs like her and they were their wives. Now, she is here. I think she knows something about her origin, since she hides it. But the emperors don't know what they have discarded. Any emperor with a woman like Lady Alessa would be in glory. I am glad they are so shortsighted. Now we must be careful. She is a very sweet and kind being. If we overstep her boundaries, it can be really complicated, not because of her, but because nature itself in every way is going to come out to defend her.”
Neil is speechless. He can't believe he's hearing this.
“But I knew that nymphs no longer existed. We survived by a miracle,” said Neil very sadly.
“Yes, yes, me too, but there are still daughters and granddaughters. It seems that Alessa’s mother was a pure-blood nymph. It’s obvious, the Duke has no more talent than to eat and go to the bathroom. It’s from there that Alessa has come out with all the blood of an Empress Nymph. We just have to hope that that idiot Draco doesn't screw it up, although he is a measured man. You know how distrustful he is, especially when things come from those people.”
“It’s true. When I went to get Lady Alessa, Draco was already on his way to the border, he didn't even see her, although the witch said that she is his mate, that stubborn man didn't want to meet her,” said Neil, annoyed, remembering the indifference of his friend and Alpha.
“Don’t worry about it. The moment he sees her he will go crazy for her. Even if he wants to fight to get away from Lady Alessa, he won’t be able to look away from her eyes,” said Mary with an amused smile.
