The doctor signaled to his assistant, who brought a wheelchair for him to sit on.
"Mr. Moretti, let's stop for today, it's time to rest, relax your legs a little."
That three-meter-long walkway took a long time to make, he sat down, letting the sweat drip down his face, feeling like they weren't making any progress.
"What were the results?" he asked, still panting.
"Compared to last time, nothing has changed."
The doctor looked at the expression Enrico made and tried to add some words.
"Your recovery is not impossible, rehabilitation is a difficult process, and results come with time, and not regressing is the biggest progress, Mr. Enrico, you..."
"Enough, I already know."
Enrico stopped him with a deep voice, while looking at his legs, feeling his whole body enveloped in darkness. The air in that room seemed to have frozen, no one in that room dared to say anything, everyone was afraid to touch on any sensitive point and pay the consequences for their imprudence.
Everyone waited until some time later, Enrico said a few more words.
"Doctor, that's it for today, you and your team are dismissed," his voice came out hoarse.
Relief was inevitable on the faces of those professionals, they packed their things and quickly left the room, only after everyone had left did he speak to Nathaniel, who was still standing near him.
"How did it go at the Rossi's house?"
"Everything went well, sir, Meng knows how to fight, so they didn't dare to prevent us from taking things, we went in and took what was requested and I've already delivered it to Mr. Igor."
Enrico listened to everything and seemed to remember something.
"Whose photo did he ask you to bring?"
"It's a woman and two children, I was afraid of violating Mr. Igor's privacy, so I didn't take a photo as proof."
"It must be Mrs. Beatrice with her two children, before she died," Odette added that information.
Enrico fell silent for a few seconds before giving some orders to his assistant.
"Nathaniel, go back to the company and check which documents need my personal approval, I will take care of them tonight."
"Yes, sir, I will prepare them immediately."
The training room door closed, leaving only Enrico and Odette in that room, and she needed to ask him a sincere question.
"Sir, are you really thinking of marrying Mr. Igor? How did he accept this marriage so readily?"
"It's fake," he sighed, seeming to have a certain regret. "It's just an agreement between us."
The housekeeper seemed thoughtful for a few moments, and a certain complication appeared in her gaze.
"Sir, why are you doing this? Does he by any chance know that you..."
"He doesn't know and doesn't need to know," Enrico interrupted Odette's words, leaving that almost freezing atmosphere. Enrico wiped the sweat with a towel, trying to cover up some of the hostility that arose with that subject.
"Odette, you don't have to treat me like a good person, you know well that what I can't do, I can't stand to see others achieve. I have to tie down what I want by all means."
Even though that marriage was an agreement, it was better than nothing from beginning to end.
"Where is he now?"
"He's resting in the room since lunch, and he hasn't come out. Mr. Igor seems to be a very adaptable person."
"He's used to being thrown away like trash by the Rossi family, since he was a child," he showed a certain dissatisfaction and unhappiness in his voice.
"I'll take a shower, go to his room and call him, if he's rested enough, tell him to come out with us at four in the afternoon."
"Yes, sir."
Igor had just woken up when he heard someone knocking on the door, the tiredness from the previous night's dream and the weight of the time zone had taken their toll, he promptly accepted the housekeeper's invitation, said he would take a shower and come down. He finished his shower, got dressed, and went downstairs to meet the others.
The car was the same as that morning, Enrico was already inside waiting for him, wearing a dark blue shirt. When Igor approached, he looked at his own clothes and saw that he was also wearing a dark blue shirt, which made him happy, and he wasted no time.
"Mr. Enrico, I didn't know we were going out as a couple, I guess we really have a good connection," he touched his earlobe, "Look, here too."
Enrico followed his gaze towards his finger, which was showing a dark blue earring. Igor seemed to like patterned and colorful things, his shirt had an open collar that revealed his soft skin and his collarbone hidden beneath the fabric, every time he made certain movements.
His long hair was slightly curly, he wore an earring that men rarely wore, his clothes matching his personality, irresistibly attractive, catching the attention of anyone who saw him.
Enrico pushed his glasses frames up after observing him, then gave the order.
"Peterson, drive."
"Yes, sir."
Igor looked ahead and saw that it was bodyguard Peterson Meng who was driving, Nathaniel was not there. On the other seat was Odette and he became curious.
"Where are we going?" There was no nervousness, just curiosity. "Don't tell me you've really prepared a wedding feast, if that's the case, I'm not dressed appropriately."
"No," a simple answer, without much explanation. "You'll know when we arrive."
As always, his future husband's mysterious personality reigned again, he just wanted to understand a little bit of why Enrico seemed so guarded and closed off. He didn't know if he would be able to break through that barrier that surrounded him.
