The wind that entered through the window blew a strand of Igor's hair, which swayed in front of his face. That image could make anyone's heart flutter. Enrico didn't avert his gaze; he watched Igor for a few seconds before replying calmly and softly.
"I'm not curious because the proposal was made by me. You accepting is already enough. And as for wanting to divide my family's assets right under my nose, I can only think that you believe yourself very capable."
As he finished saying those words, the car stopped in front of the mansion. The assistant and the bodyguard quickly got out, one opening the back door and the other placing the wheelchair in its place. Enrico was already used to the whole process; he moved from his seat to the wheelchair using his own strength, without anyone's help.
Igor was still sitting, observing every movement of Enrico. He raised one eyebrow with certain interest and looked up to see a lady approaching with a few more staff members, ready to receive them.
"Sir, you've returned quickly. Is everything all right?"
"Yes, everything is in order," he looked towards the car, "get out."
The lady followed her boss's gaze, only to find Igor sitting still in the backseat. Her look revealed a hint of surprise, and her voice came out somewhat hesitantly.
"Sir, is this... is this the young Mr. Rossi?"
Igor got out and casually tied his hair back, letting it sway in the wind, before introducing himself.
"Hello, I'm Igor Rossi. The reason why I'm here is that your boss and I fell in love at first sight. We got along very well, and we intend to get married," he said all that without letting go of the old lady's hand, who had her mouth wide open, but the joke in his tone was quite obvious.
"What..." she tried to say something, still a little startled.
"Well, from today, he will be one of the owners of this house. Odette, inform all the staff members to be aware of this," Enrico didn't deny Igor's words.
"Yes, sir," she tried to stabilize her emotions.
"Nathaniel, you and Meng go back to Igor's house," he gave the order and turned his attention to the man behind him, "How many things did you leave at your house?"
"Just one suitcase and my wallet," he replied, shrugging.
Nathaniel nodded, and when he was about to get in the car, Igor remembered one more thing.
"Wait, there should be a picture frame in the second drawer of the bedside table, please bring it as well."
At that moment, there was no trace of joking or mockery in Igor's voice, but he seemed serious. Nathaniel looked first at Enrico and then agreed to what he asked for.
"I'll do that, Mr. Igor."
After his men got in the car, Enrico controlled the wheelchair and started heading towards the house.
"Come in," he said to Igor, without looking in his direction.
In order to facilitate his mobility, a ramp was built so that he could enter and exit the house easily. Igor followed, and the staff followed behind, but none surpassed Enrico. Igor still stood there, looking at it all; the sensation of becoming part of a millionaire family was indeed good.
Igor only agreed to that marriage arrangement purely because of his dream. Until that moment, he still didn't know how closely those events would follow what he had dreamt. He needed some support, in case things went sideways.
Enrico had taken the initiative to propose that arrangement and give him a high position. Why should he say no? After all, if everything he dreamt of was true, it could be said that the arrangement would be like an alliance between victims. If something happened in the future, they could support each other. And most importantly, Enrico was very attractive. Living under the same roof as that man, not having to worry about food and clothing, when could he find a job as good as this one?
Igor was more than willing to cooperate in that deal, he would have to have some problem if he thought about refusing, the benefits outweigh the disadvantages, so he just had to take advantage of his luck, as it didn't usually appear like that, while thinking about those things, he followed Enrico into the enormous mansion.
When Nathaniel returned, he headed to the training room, Enrico was there, a medical team was on site and several devices were connected to his legs, they were monitoring the results.
Odette was in the room, and she looked apprehensive about the situation, she was afraid that he would fall and hurt himself, the effort and pain were evident on Enrico's face, with visible veins on his forehead and sweat covering his face and body.
There were only a few muffled sounds he produced, he seemed more like a wild beast trapped in a small space, he was going through his weekly rehabilitation, and the level of pain Enrico experienced during each session could not be described in words.
When I discovered the letter, I knew my life would never be the same again. It was tucked away in an old wooden box in the attic, covered in a thick layer of dust. As I carefully unfolded the yellowed paper, a rush of emotions washed over me. It was a letter from my long-lost grandmother, Nathaniel. Her handwriting, delicate and precise, seemed to come alive on the faded parchment. In the letter, she poured out her heart, sharing her regrets and deepest secrets. It was as if she was speaking to me from beyond the grave, urging me to uncover the truth about our family's mysterious past. As I read each word, I realized that I had a duty to honor her memory and embark on a journey to unravel the hidden truths that lay dormant for so many years. Little did I know that this letter would be the catalyst for a series of events that would change my life forever.
