"Evelyn Amaris"
I have no strength to resist, and despair has struck again. I have a family and I've lost everything because I was immature enough to get pregnant... I don't blame my son for anything; I am the one at fault. Now I am in the rival village, with someone I've never met in my life. I lowered my head and tears began to fall to the ground.
"It must be very hard for you," Marcos said, sitting beside me. I just looked at him and he continued, "Let me help you…"
"You know I am an Amaris, right? Like that hostile wolf told me, I have family. Why would you help me?" I asked, feeling the tears run down my face.
"Don't worry about them. They're part of the guard and have already been punished for not alerting us about you…" Marcos's expression quickly became furious, then he returned with his gentle smile, "Besides, you are now carrying an Aibek in your arms. Now go take a cold shower! I'll look after the baby. What's his name, and yours?" He smiled, "I've already introduced myself."
"Miguel, and I'm Evelyn…" I said, returning the smile as he helped me up.
"Miguel's a nice name! Did you choose it?" He aided me in walking to the bathroom next to the room where I was staying.
"My sister did!" I smiled at the memory of my son's birth and how my sister was stronger than I was at that moment. She delivered my baby, and how I miss her.
"She has a gift for choosing names. Can you manage a shower on your own, or would you prefer I ask one of the village women to help you?" he inquired, still close to the door.
"I can manage, thank you!" I replied, grasping the door, and before I could shut it, he added.
"Your car is here out front. I'll ask a woman to fetch some clean clothes for you to wear."
"Thank you again!" I said, giving him a faint smile before closing the door.
My mouth is dry and my body won't stop trembling. Holding onto the wall, I walked until I got under the shower... I removed my clothes and felt the chills intensify... I turned on the shower to cold and stepped in, shivering even more as the water cascaded over me. I drank some of the water to stop my lips from being so dry...
I stood there for a few seconds, but couldn't keep myself up when I heard someone knock on the door. I looked and then turned off the shower... I slowly walked with wobbly legs and after asking who it was, I heard a female voice say it was my clothes.
I cracked the door open just enough to poke my head out and saw a beautiful young woman with light brown hair holding my clothes. I took them and thanked her; she smiled kindly and walked away... I closed the door, leaned against it, and with great difficulty, I dressed myself... With a white undershirt and blue jean shorts, and white lingerie beneath.
I heard Miguel's whimpering, then silence—it must be around lunchtime, judging by the brightness of the sun and the cessation of rain... I left the bathroom and, still slowly bracing myself against the walls, made my way around, entering the bedroom to find neither my son nor Marcos.
"Marcos!!" I called out, standing in front of the bedroom.
"I'm here in the kitchen! Can you come here... Miguel is feeding!" I heard his voice not too far away.
I confirmed that I could and walked through this large, beautiful house with finely detailed and elegant furnishings befitting an Alpha... I arrived in the kitchen to find him sitting near the table, feeding my son.
"Sit down. You must be hungry! I had lunch prepared," his kind smile made me smile every time.
"You handle the bottle well," I noted with a smile as I approached the table, placing my hand on it and sitting down to watch them.
"It's not too hard," he said with a smile.
"I see!" I coughed a few times, turning my head to the side.
"Feeling better?" he asked, looking at me.
"Yes, thank you! Do you live here? How did we get to your house?" I asked curiously.
"Simple, you fainted. So I had one of the wolves come with me, bringing Miguel, and I carried you... I also had your car filled with fuel. Actually, this house belongs to my brother," he said, looking at Miguel and then at me at the end of his sentence.
"I'm quite embarrassed," I admitted, looking away. "Thanks for everything!"
"It's nothing! Now eat, because you have a strong little guy to take care of," he said, finishing feeding my son by placing the bottle on the table and shaking a rattle near Miguel, and then Marcos smiled.
I smiled watching them, and Marcos even burped Miguel—he had a knack for it. Again, he insisted I eat, so after days I had my first meal... Just a little rice, beans, and salad... The table was full of things that looked very tasty, but I chose to eat just the main items. And it was indeed delicious; I felt well satisfied, and the natural orange juice... It was as if it had been years since I had eaten like this...
After lunch, the fever came back, and he gave me the necessary medication... He put a cold compress on my forehead, made me comfortable in the room, and took care of Miguel. However, I noticed at the end of the afternoon Marcos was quite nervous, trying to hide it. I could tell something was not right... He was on his phone a lot, stepping out to take calls, then returning to check on me and Miguel, always with a gentle smile, but his concern was clearly visible on his face.
I asked if everything was okay when he came back to check my temperature. Smiling faintly, he said it was fine, but it seemed I knew it wasn't... My throat began to hurt continuously, and I needed to bathe my son... After mentioning this to Marcos, he had the same girl bring clothes for me and Miguel. Since my legs weren't as weak anymore, I decided to shower with my son....
