As Jestony and the other survivors rested and recovered from their ordeal in the maze, they were once again greeted by the voice of the system. "Congratulations on your success in the maze challenge," it said. "But now it's time for your next test. Your new game begins at the water's edge."
The students looked at each other in confusion. What did the system mean by "the water's edge"? They soon found out, as they were led through a series of twisting corridors and out into a vast, open space. Before them stretched a shimmering expanse of water, with no visible shores or boundaries.
"Your challenge is to cross the water and reach the other side," said the system. "But be warned - this is no ordinary body of water. It is filled with dangers and obstacles that will test your strength, your wits, and your courage. You have three days to make it to the other side, or you will be eliminated from the game."
The students looked out at the water, feeling a mix of fear and excitement. They could see ripples on the surface, and hear strange sounds echoing across the expanse. There was no sign of any boats or rafts, and no clear path through the water.
Jestony took charge once again. "Okay, everyone, let's stay calm and work together," he said. "We don't know what we're up against yet, so let's take some time to observe and plan before we make any moves."
The students spent the first day watching the water, trying to discern any patterns or clues. They saw strange creatures moving beneath the surface, and occasional flashes of light or movement on the far side. They also noticed that the water seemed to be shifting and changing, with currents and eddies appearing and disappearing at random.
As the second day dawned, the students began to experiment with different approaches to crossing the water. Some tried swimming, but quickly found themselves buffeted by currents and attacked by unseen creatures. Others tried building rafts or platforms from available materials, but these were quickly torn apart or sunk by the water's dangers.
Jestony and a few others decided to try a more strategic approach. They mapped out the movements of the currents and creatures, and worked out a route that would minimize their risks. They also used their knowledge of the other students' strengths and weaknesses to allocate roles and tasks.
It was slow going, and the students faced countless obstacles and setbacks along the way. They were attacked by vicious water-dwelling beasts, caught in whirlpools and maelstroms, and almost drowned more than once. But they persevered, and finally, on the third day, they reached the other side of the water.
As they stumbled onto the rocky shore, exhausted and battered, they heard the voice of the system once again. "Congratulations," it said. "You have proven yourselves worthy once again. Your next challenge awaits you on the other side of the mountain range. But first, let me reward you with some new traits that you have earned through your efforts."
The students looked at each other in surprise as they felt a surge of new energy and abilities coursing through their bodies. They knew that they would need every advantage they could get as they faced the challenges ahead.
