Chapter 17

Notes:

A/N - This is a short chapter but with my schedule it would be at least the weekend (if not later) before I got a long chapter up. Besides, I really wanted this moment to stand on its own before the final showdown...

Before long Yoongi and Tae were pulling into a dark, dingy alley surrounded by yet another set of abandoned buildings and warehouses.

They stopped behind Jin's sister's minivan and as soon as Jin and Hoseok exited, Yoongi pushed his elder against the side of the vehicle and hissed,  "Why did you bring him?! You know he shouldn't be here!"

Jin glared at the Alpha in response.

"Yeah, well you try to getting that one to do something he doesn't want to do."

"Oh, believe me..." Yoongi snorted.  "I've tried.  You still should've taken him to Joon's!"

"And I fully intended to until I realized who else was in the back of the car we were tailing and decided it was more important not to lose sight of them."

"Who?"

Jin glanced over Yoongi's shoulder at Tae and Hoseok, who were now standing behind him before fixing the Alpha with a hard stare.

"Dae Hee."

The hairs on the back of Yoongi's neck immediately stood on end.

"Dae Hee?  Are you sure?"

"As many times as I used that bastard's mug shot as a target on my dart board?  Trust me...I'm sure."

Yoongi pinched the bridge of his nose as he processed this information.

"When did that fucker get back in the country?"

"Don't know," shrugged Jin.  "He obviously snuck in because there's been no word of his return through the official channels.  And if he can sneak in then he can sneak out just as easily and I didn't want to risk losing the chance if it was right in front of me."

"Finally..." said Tae as he cracked his knuckles in anticipation.  "Here's our chance to put an end to that sadistic son of a *****."

Hoseok  - tired of being sidelined from the conversation - decided to jump in at this point.

"So...what are we waiting for?!  According to you we've got all the players in one location.  Let's go get these fuckers!"

"Hold on!  We aren't doing anything," insisted Yoongi.  "You are going back and help Kookie protect Joonie and Jimin-ah."

"Like Hell, I will!  I'm in this for the duration, you Shrimpy Sniper.  Whether you like it or not,  I'm going wherever you go."

He jammed a finger into Yoongi's chest but when he saw the look on the bodyguard's face the Beta's tone softened and he quickly added,  “Don’t worry, hyung.  I'll be careful.  Besides, look. I’m wearing your jacket.  Now give me a gun.”

Yoongi 's jaw tensed and his nostrils flared.  He took a couple of deep breaths then slowly reached down to pull a small, snub nosed pistol from a holster strapped on his ankle.

Hobi hummed appreciatively as he quirked an eyebrow at the Alpha.

“Hmmm....Impressive.  Say...just out of curiosity, where else can you hide things?”

An exasperated Yoongi shoved the weapon into Hoseok's hand.

“If you promise to shut up and listen then one day I might let you try and find out.”

Hoseok scrunched his nose and winked.

“Oooo...I’m gonna hold you to that, hyung.”

Ignoring that statement, Yoongi watched how Hoseok handled the gun.  “Do you know how to use that?”

The Beta hesitated.  “In theory....”

“Fck...." groaned Yoongi.  "Don’t tell me.  You're a high scorer on Call of Duty.”

“No,”  Hoseok huffed then reluctantly admitted,   “...But I do pretty good on Halo.”

Yoongi screwed his eyes shut and tilted his head back but before he could say anything else, Jin stepped between them.

"Aish!  Don't let Yoongi-ah intimidate you, Hoseok-ah.  I'll tell you what I tell all my new cadets when they start weapons training.   Firing a gun  - while extremely dangerous - is also not rocket science."

The elder began pointing at the various parts of the gun as he gave a quick tutorial.

"Here's your grip, the trigger, the sight and the barrel.  The hole at the end of the barrel?  That's the business end.  You want to be behind that when it goes 'boom', because it's the part that makes you dead. Got it?"

He paused until Hoseok nodded his understanding.

"Okay.  The rest is pretty straightforward," Jin continued.   "You aim at whatever it is you want to shoot and then you pull the trigger.  That sequence of events is crucial so do try and remember it."

Yoongi started to say something but Jin cut him off with a threatening look and kept on with his lesson.

"But here's the most important thing...If you are going to use this, Hoseok-ah, then you have to mean it.  Don't screw around.  Make it count. If you've got the shot then take it.  And whatever you do...please don't stand and listen while some damn villain monologues his evil plans like in the movies.  Just shoot the son of a ***** in the head and be done with it, understand?”

Hoseok nodded again.  "Understood."

"Good.  Thank you for attending my firearms master class.  I hereby deputize you.  Yoongi-ah?"

The Alpha was staring off into the distance when the sound of his name broke him out of whatever thoughts he'd been having.

"Huh?  Sorry.  What did you say, hyung?"

"I said he's good to go.  Are you ready do this?"

"Sure, Jin-hyung," Yoongi gave his head a firm shake.  "I..uh... just remembered something that  I need to have Hobi-ah's help with to get out of my car first."

He grabbed Hoseok by the elbow and dragged him over to driver's side of the sedan.  The bodyguard opened the door then turned and without warning he clasped the Beta's face in his hands, stared into his eyes and whispered, "Jung Hoseok...I love you...." before crashing their lips together in a passionate kiss.

A stunned Hoseok froze momentarily, struggling to process what was happening.  He then quickly decided that he could think about it later,  opting for now to simply respond with an equal fervor.

This kiss was entirely different from the one they had shared in the club.  That kiss had been slow, calculated and sensual, whereas this one was wild, messy and urgent, as if Yoongi were desperate to communicate an ocean of feelings in one brief, physical act.

Hoseok was just allowing himself to melt into the sensation when Yoongi abruptly pulled back.

The breathless and flustered Beta looked up to meet the Alpha's gaze and in a split second he realized what the other was about to do.

"Min Yoongi, Don't you fucking dare!"

"I'm sorry, Hob-ah.  I truly am but this is the only way I can think of to protect you."

The Alpha dropped his hands to the Beta's shoulders and shoved with all his might, causing the other man to fall into the front seat of the car.

"This isn't your fight and I can't watch another person that I love die when they don't have to, Hob-ah.  I-I just can't..."

Hoseok was getting ready to jump out of the car when Yoongi employed his Alpha Command voice, startling everyone including Jin and TaeHyung.

"STOP!"

An enraged Hoseok now found himself stuck inside the vehicle. He fought with all his might against the order, but found himself physically unable to countermand it.

"Drive to Namjoon's."

The bodyguard tossed his keys into Hoseok's lap.

"Yoongi...." the Beta snarled.

"Start the car..."

The Alpha's lip trembled slightly as the Beta was forced to comply but he continued issuing his commands.

"Stay safe..."

“So help me, Min Yoongi..." Hoseok gripped the steering wheel as he grunted through clenched teeth.  "If you go through with this I will hate you for the rest of my life.”

He stared into the Alpha's sad, dark eyes which seemed to be peering into his very soul.

“Fine..." Yoongi's voice cracked ever so slightly.   "If that’s what it takes to keep you safe and alive then I hope it’s a long and healthy hate.”

The Alpha then inhaled sharply and took a step back.

"Don't follow me."

He slammed the car door shut as he issued his last order.

"Go.  Drive away.  NOW!"

He hit the roof of the car for emphasis then stood, fists clenched at his sides, as he watched an enraged and unwilling Hoseok slowly drive out of sight.  As soon as the car turned the corner he heard TaeHyung whisper behind him.

"I hope you live long enough to make that right with him, hyung."

"Yeah, Tae..." Yoongi replied in a soft voice.  " So do I..."

The Alpha's expression then turned hard as he squared his shoulders and spun around to face his friends.

"Right...Jin-hyung?  Point me to the right building so we can end these fckers once and for all."

Notes:

That was for my readers who enjoy angst... :)

So....what do you think? Did Yoongi make the right choice?
