Two days had passed, and Merheia was concerned about June's disappearance. She performed a tracking spell but found nothing. She then informed the doctor, who went into the forest to search. Being a Lupine, he would more easily identify his daughter's scent.
Malek traversed the forest, starting from the witch's cabin. He caught the scent and followed the trail, which was faint due to the passage of time. Reaching a waterfall, he distinctly smelled the death of a wolf and knew who it was since it was the first pup he had seen born in the Pack after his transformation.
By its age, it would have undergone its first transformation and by the surrounding scents, he had been with Luna and was killed by the Alpha. As a doctor, he recognized the scents of the female's copulation with both males and probably, that was the reason for the killing.
He picked up his daughter's scent near the site of death, mixed in with that of the Alpha couple as well. Rushing back to the clinic, he returned to human form, washed thoroughly so no one would know where he had been, and dressed for work. The first patient was Luna.
"Good morning, doctor!" the jubilant Alpha greeted.
"Good day, Alpha Ramon, I see you're in high spirits."
"Yes, I brought Maura to be examined and confirm what I already know."
"That's excellent, finally," said the doctor, connecting the dots with what he'd discovered in the forest. "Lie down on the examination table."
The female lay down and he lifted her garment, taking care to cover her legs up to her intimate area. He took a stethoscope and placed the larger part on her belly, pressing his ear to the other end.
Thump-thump Thump-thump Thump-thump
"The little one's heart is beating very strongly for such a young embryo. Congratulations to the pair of you. You can get up now, Luna."
"Finally, I was beginning to doubt my female's fertility."
"Why mine? You could be the sterile one," Maura retorted haughtily.
The Alpha growled at Luna but the doctor defended him, reminding him of the fact he did not accept:
"Sorry, Luna, but the fertility of the Alpha cannot be questioned. He, whether he accepts it or not, has a son."
"Do not be impertinent, doctor. I am his mate and in my womb is proof."
The medic stopped what he was doing and looked seriously at her who had sat in the chair in front of his desk.
"The female is the only one certain of her own offspring. Speaking of offspring, I want to inform you that I found mine."
"What do you mean, you found your mate?" asked the Alpha.
Malek had intended this when he mentioned his daughter, to steer away from danger and subtly alert who the wolf found in the forest was.
"I discovered I impregnated a human during my transformation period, and it's that young lady I assisted, the one you refused to convert."
"That young lady? So that's why she withstood so many grave injuries."
"Yes, sir. Now she's missing, and I can't find her, and Rosa is inconsolable."
"You and that human mate of yours, you lack ambition or pride. She's a mere mortal and you're a supernatural being," Maura said disdainfully.
"I followed her scent into the forest and feared she might have been taken by some unrestrained male."
"She was here in the Pack? Why didn't you introduce her? We would have protected her."
"I don't know what brought her here; maybe curiosity about how a Pack lives. You expelled her, remember, Alpha?"
"But as a wolf, she ought to be among her own kind," Luna said.
"I don't know if she is a wolf; she might not transform."
Luna glanced at the Alpha meaningfully since the girl was found naked, meaning she had transformed and returned to human form away from where she left her clothes or tore them during the transformation.
"I'll alert the guards to watch out for a strange young lady. Now let's head home, and I will announce the news to everyone," said the Alpha, eager to escape the conversation.
"Fine, here's a prescription for nausea medication and fortifiers for the pregnancy. Come back in two weeks."
They thanked him and left, and after a while, the Alpha's loud howl was heard, followed by others, in celebration of the good news. Malek hurried to the witch and reported his findings, handing over a few strands of Luna's hair found on the pillow where her head rested during the examination.
"So that vile one must have captured and imprisoned our girl. These strands of hair will be very useful in finding out which spell she is under. Now go, don't let them notice you've been here. Did you use the lotion I gave you?"
"Yes, don't worry, they won't realize I've been in the forest or come here. Please find her."
"I have a suspicion, but it's hard to reach, and I don't know how that witch found out."
"I trust in you. Goodbye."
He left as he came and now could only wait. His daughter deserved none of this cruelties.

Punch, punch, kick, punch.
"Alpha! Enough. You haven't stopped training, you're getting bigger and bigger."
"Didn't you hear, Gregori? My father will have another child. How can that be if my mother was his mate?"
"We don't know the truth, Alpha."
"Did you research what I asked?"
"Yes, I found out that a pureblood Alpha can impregnate a woman or female on her fertile day, under a blood moon, even if she's not his actual mate."
"I see, then it's not certain my mother is his mate, and since there was no blood moon yesterday, she is his true mate."
"That seems to be the case, Alpha."
"Cursed ones! That cow is weak and cunning, she can't be his mate."
Rude punched the sandbag a few more times, then released his wolf and ran as fast as he could. He arrived at the Lotus Flower Pack forest and sniffed the air, unwilling to admit he was wrong and that cow would take the place that was his, certain she would kill him as soon as the offspring was born.
"Is anyone there? Help, please help me."
"Shh, stay quiet," whispered a voice — "they might come back."
"Where are we?"
"I think we're in the Alpha's dungeon underground. Below me."
"Anyone else?"
"Just the two of us."
The earth shook.
