MARKUS
When I saw her coming down the stairs, I was fascinated. She looked beautiful, and that dress delicately accentuated her sensual figure. For a moment, I thought about taking her to my room and leaving her breathless, but that's not what I have planned for tonight. It caught my attention when she bit her lip - she better not do that again, as I won't forgive her, I thought to myself. I wasn't expecting the necklace; I don't think she has ever worn something like that before. It's the missing piece that makes her shine like the princess she is. Wow, having the title of husband is clearly affecting me—I even speak romantically. She's not foolish; she knows that my excessive kindness is unusual, but soon she will realize what I truly desire.
We left the house and got into the car. Neither of us said a word during the entire journey. When we arrived at the reception, there were many reporters. I got out of the car and then helped Christiane. The security guards tried to keep the reporters at bay, but they insisted, so I allowed them to take some pictures. I felt that Christiane was uncomfortable; she wasn't accustomed to this kind of attention. I held her by the waist and pulled her closer to me. She placed her hand on my chest, looking at me with a puzzled expression, then she stepped closer and posed next to me.
While she smiled for the cameras, I gently lifted her chin and kissed her. She responded, which fascinated me. I could kiss her endlessly. We continued walking, leaving the reporters yelling questions at us. We entered the hall, and all eyes were on us, which didn't surprise me. I had never been known to have a girlfriend, not even a fling, and then suddenly I was married to a simple girl whom nobody knows. In the background, I spotted Mauricio with his conquest of the night. I went straight to him, with Christiane on my arm.
"Markus, I was starting to think you wouldn't come," he said.
"I have no choice; it's my obligation to be here with this company."
"But now I see you are not in bad company," he looked at her. "Hello, Christiane, you look stunning."
"Thank you, Mauricio. Until now, I hadn't heard that from any man," she replied. I looked at that little girl puzzled. Is she flirting with him?
"Markus, I didn't tell you?" Mauricio said, "Brother, that's not right," he continued, gesturing towards Christiane. "And Christiane, I'm glad to know that I was the first because tonight I doubt more than one man will say it to you."
Mauricio's response irritated me. I glanced around and noticed many men observing her, and I understood why he said that.
CHRISTIANE
His reaction meant nothing to me. The diamond necklace may have stunned any girl, but not me. Being kissed in front of all those cameras was obviously just for show. Throughout all of this, he never told me how I looked. When I saw his face after I told his friend that, he seemed very angry, and that made me happy. When we moved away from his friend, he whispered in my ear, "I love how you look tonight, and with that dress, it's exciting." I pretended I didn't hear anything, but it sent shivers down my spine in a strange way.
Markus and Mauricio went off to get a drink, and I remained seated at a table with Mauricio's companion. She was friendly, almost my age, and her name was Claudia. We chatted for a while, and she mentioned that she was Mauricio's secretary. I told her that I was about to graduate from university as an accountant.
"So, you'll surely start working at the company with your husband," she mentioned.
"I don't think so," I replied with a smirk.
"Do you drink?" she asked, pointing to a glass of champagne.
"I've never done it, but... why not?"
I looked in Markus' direction; he was talking with a group of men. Suddenly, a beautiful but onerously extravagant blonde woman approached us.
"So, you're the girl everyone is talking about," she said, looking me up and down with annoyance.
"Excuse me, who are you?" I asked.
"I'm Angie, the only woman who can drive Markus crazy with desire," she replied brazenly.
"So, you're his lover," I confronted her.
"Something like that. Does it bother you?" she answered, her brazen smile annoying me. In the same manner, I smiled back and replied.
"No... you see, no. I know he has many of those, but there's only one wife. But don't worry, that's for now, I'll take care of them running out soon."
I see his smile fading, I know that what I just said is something I don't even believe, and it doesn't matter to me if he has a dozen women, but I had to put her in her place. Suddenly, I feel someone grabbing me from behind, and speaking of the devil, Emperor Markus makes an appearance.
MARKUS
I noticed Angie talking to Christiane, and it worried me. I didn't know how she would react. Just at that moment, I heard what the little one said to Angie, hahaha, did she really say that? Well, here's my entrance. I took him by the waist to give him his place.
"Darling, I'm back. What were you talking about?" I notice the anger on Angie's face, but I don't care.
"Your lover came to introduce himself, very kind of him."
She says it with a smile and gets closer to me, I liked that. It seemed like she was marking her territory.
"Hello, Markus. It's been a while since I've heard from you. You've been neglecting me."
"Can't you see why?" I pointed to Christiane.
"Yes, I see. When you get tired, call me." She says goodbye and leaves just as I was about to ask Christiane why she had said that to Angie. Mauricio approaches us.
"Buddy, I need you."
"Not now."
"It'll only take a moment. There are some people who want to talk to you."
"Fine."
I went with him. They were investors congratulating me for the success of the company. While talking to them, I couldn't take my eyes off Christiane. She was having a nice chat with the girl Mauricio brought.
"Relax, she won't slip away from you." Mr. Hermann from Schmidt & Associates says to me.
"Pardon?" I ask, not understanding what he just said.
"Haha, she's beautiful. Young man, I've known you for years and I've never seen you so interested in a woman. She must be very special."
If I still understood what he said, I apologize and excuse myself to leave. As I return to the table, she tries to ignore me.
"So, you'll take care of not having any more lovers?" She immediately turns to me with surprise, apparently thinking I didn't hear her.
"Huh... No, of course not. I couldn't care less."
"Are you jealous?" I tease her.
"Haha, not at all. I think I actually liked your lover. She's very modern."
"That didn't give me that impression." I looked at her to see what she was doing, but she just looked around.
"Why should I be?" She says it as if it's nothing.
Those words angered me, for many reasons. She should be jealous, and she acted as if she didn't care. She even said she liked Angie. I had let Mauricio's incident slide, but not this.
I grabbed her by the arm and took her with me without even saying goodbye. The guards kept the reporters away from us, and we got into the car.
"Why are we going like this? Are you crazy?"
"Yes, a little" I said, angry.
She seemed to notice and remained silent until we arrived home. She got out of the car, and I followed behind her. She was heading straight to her room, but I stopped her and pushed her against the wall.
