"You may go now and get your supplies. Xavier will show you around." She finally left my hand.
We greeted her goodbye and walked out.
"Do vampires not get along with witches?" Xavier's protest made me feel he hated them.
"No. We're not enemies, but not friends either."
"But you guys looked friendly."
"We are. She's extremely powerful. And influential. It's beneficial to be friends with powerful people. Make sure you're always on her good side, one wrong move and you're done for." He motioned his hands as if slitting his neck, giving me shivers down the spine.
"We are here." We entered a room full of clothes and threads scattered everywhere. A curtain was tied opposite to the door, hiding the other side of the room. Xavier rang the bell tied on the door.
An old lady peeped through the curtain. Round face, short curly brown hair, specs rested on her short nose, brown eyes, wrinkled skin with patches of vitiligo designed on it.
"You're 27 minutes earlier Xavier. Wait until I'm done." She disappeared behind the curtains again after finishing her sentence.
"I know. We can wait." He replied in a loud voice anyways.
We found a bench hidden between the stacks of clothes and sat, after making enough space for both of us.
"Xavier… if you don't mind, can I ask you something?" I mustered up my courage and spoke.
"If it's something I'll mind, then don't."
"No, I need to know at all costs. Since the moment I've woken up, everybody is blaming you for transforming me into a vampire. Will you be punished because of me? If you want to, I can speak to those higher ups for you. I've a knack of convincing others."
"Why did you even bother asking for permission, when you were gonna ask anyways?"
"I can't help myself when I'm curious." I laughed awkwardly.
"Look, I might look dumb and irresponsible, but trust me, I'm not." Atleast he knew the reality. "I'm quite reliable, but the day when you were dying, your soul call was so powerful that I couldn't resist it. I was out of control, and before I came to my senses, I had already revived you. So, during the hearing, if they summon you, just tell them the truth, and I'll do the same. Got it?" He was explaining himself, like a kid accepting it's mistake.
"You do look a little reliable now." I laughed placing my elbows at the back of the bench.
"What do you mean 'now'? Didn't you find me reliable since the beginning?" He complained.
"No, you looked like those highschool kids acting arrogant to look cool. How cute!" I replied honestly.
"Cute…? Are you trying to act friendly with me now? Nice try kiddo… but I don't just befriend anybody." He was back to being his previous self.
"Thank God, because neither do I." I was ready with counter insults. Being with Lucas, atleast helped me with one thing, 'roasting other'.
"Did you just call me a nobody?" He was definitely a blockhead in his childhood. Like those brainless bullies usually portrayed in a drama, and I knew exactly how this conversation will continue.
"No, I didn't. You said that yourself." 'Trying to act smart huh.' That'll be his next sentence.
"Do you really think, I'll fall for your dumb conversation. Try not to offend me kiddo, you might die again." Damn he's not following the script.
"I was just trying to carry out a conversation with you. You see, I know nobody, nobody but you." I dance my hands a little, singing the last sentence, pointing my fingers at him. "So, I wanted to know more about you." I forced a smile on my face.
"I already told you, I don't befriend just anybody. Prove me you're worthy of being my friend. Ace in your academics. Only then will I consider befriending you."
"How stingy!" I rolled my eyes and he scoffed.
After spending some time silently, the huge clock on the wall rang and the old lady came out, who goes by the name Tailor Swift, I guess. We stood up.
Tapes wrapped around her neck, she wore a simple long frock with a brown corset on.
"Is this the lady I'm supposed to tailor?" She asked Xavier pointing towards me.
"Yes, she's the new student of mystery aca…" "Did the principal approve?"
"Yes."
"Fine, let me have a look at her." She stepped closer, observing every inch of my 'never exercised' body, through her brown eyes. Something about her reminded me of Lucas. Maybe the brown eyes.
"Short, flat, not fat but has belly fat." She tapped on my stomach twice. She was wrong, I'm not short. I'm 5 '4, though I was shorter than her, but I'm more than average. I might be flat and have belly fat, but I'm NOT short.
She pulled one of the measuring tapes out in a swish and started measuring my lengths. My shoulder, hand, chest, waist, height, neck. She was done within seconds.
"The uniform will be delivered to you in the morning."
"How much?" Xavier asked awkwardly. She was silent for a moment.
"Since we don't get orders from vampires often, I'll give you a discount. 700 coins, cash on delivery." She replied and turned around, disappearing behind the curtains.
"Thankyou," Xavier shouted not caring if she heard or not.
"Is she a witch too?" She didn't have the same aura as the principal but I sensed a different energy. We proceeded towards the door.
"Nope, she's a werewolf."
