"Yeah, we have teachers, students and everything. Though no vampire has been admitted since ages. I was the last alumni from our race." His tone changed. It was now soft and slow, followed by sighs after every sentence. Was he missing his school days now? Woah…. I would never. I hated school and I'm glad I don't have to attend one anymore. At Least not a normal one.
He suddenly stopped.
"I was confused thinking where to start, now I know. Follow me." He stepped forward but stopped again and turned around.
"I'm decreasing my speed to the minimum. This time, follow me. Got it?" He placed his hands on my shoulder as if advising but it sounded more like a warning.
"I'll try." I don't know why, but I felt scared. So I didn't talkback this time.
"Give your best." I heard and the next moment he was atleast 10 steps away from me.
"Wait for me." I shouted and followed him. I was running as fast as I could. I always won every marathon of our school but this guy was insane. Our distance was increasing after every step. And the bushes weren't helping at all. He was as small as a grain now, I could barely see him.
"I told you to give your best. Yet you're still here. You humans are so slow." The guy who was atleast a mile away from me was now beside me. Man… I'll go insane in a few days if this goes on. And I don't know why but I felt offended to be called a human.
"Can you stop scaring me?" I continued running, catching my breath, while it looked like he was just walking beside me. Gosh…. These long legs, I'll chop them off someday.
After running for a while, we reached the bank of a river. The water was still, with most covered on its surface, making it difficult to see the other side. The moon shone bright in the sky with a few clouds scattered in it.
There was a small boat tied in a corner. Xavier started moving towards it.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"We'll be using this cutie for some time." He released the rope and hopped in.
Cutie??? That's nowhere near cute. It looked so old and worn out, with scratches covering every inch of it. Some skulls and strange patterns were engraved on the surface, which made it look scarier.
"Hop on, this one waits for none." He signalled towards the boat.
After stepping in, I realised there was no row attached to it and the boat slowly started moving on its own.
"What in the f….ascinating world is going on?" I controlled my tongue. The last time I cursed, my mom dripped wax on my hand as punishment and I never swore again.
"Rowie is taking us to the academy." He stood with his hands stuffed in his pocket while I sat holding the sides of the boat tightly, praying not to fall.
"Rowie?" Circumstances can't stop my curiosity.
He sat down and showed the words engraved on the wood inside, 'Rowie' in an italic font. The letters were faded, but enough to understand.
"Woah! This thing move on its own? Are we going to Hogwarts or something?"
"What's Hogwarts?"
"So it's not Hogwarts? Nevermind." I was disappointed. Look I might look normal but I still wait for my Hogwarts' letter to arrive. It may seem childish to you, but I'd still want to live in delulu dreams rather than upset myself with this grownup world.
The boat started pacing up. I could see nothing due to the haar and we didn't even carry a lantern like Hagrid did. I could barely see Xavier's face.
The sound of moving water made me want to touch it. I slowly lowered my hand to feel it.
"Don't. The moment you touch it, you'll be dragged in forever." Xavier shouted, making me flinch.
