Edward

My eyes then landed on the glass in Carla's hand. On second thought, the liquid didn't look like it was wine. The colour and texture looked strange.

"Wha…" I was about to ask normally when I remembered she was way older than me, so I sat properly and continued in a respectable manner, "May I ask? Which wine are you drinking?" Although I had no idea about any wine, I asked. Because she really can't be sipping on blood as if it was coffee.

"Oh this? It's blood cursed wine, haemotic hell 1988, best for a fresh night. You either drink fresh blood or a few decades old wine, there's nothing else in the middle." She said as if she was talking about cappuccino.

"This place is the best for both, freshest blood and oldest blood wine. Normally you won't even get to stand here for a minute but since Carla is here, it isn't very crowded." Not crowded? We barely managed to squeeze in pushing people as if we were riding a local crowded bus, but that's not the point here, "It even won THE BEST BLOOD BANK of the decade for 3 consecutive decades you know." He seemed excited as if he was the one who won it. And of course, as usual I was still confused but ignored, thinking I'd understand everything eventually.

"Here's your order sir," the waiter came back with a big glass and a small cup in the tray, the size difference was huge. He placed the large glass with a straw in front of Xavier and the cup in front of me.

"You gotta pay me later." Xavier whispered slowly and began sipping his drink. His expression changed drastically as he began enjoying the drink.

I glanced at the liquid inside my cup, it was almost pink with a tint red colour design forming on its surface. Looked way better than the wine Carla was drinking. I touched the cup, it was warm. I picked it and smelled and…. gagged, it smelled like rusted iron with a mixed faint smell of dead rats. I placed it back and tried not to puke.

"What? You don't like it?" Xavier looked disappointed. "This is the best cheap blood tea you'll ever find in the whole mystery forest…" "It's her first time Xavier, it happens." Carla cut him off, "You don't remember how many times you puked after smelling your fresh blood with mint clots for the first time. You remained hungry for 3 days and after being unable to resist your thirst you finally drank your first drop. You drank 3 whole litres in a minute. I still remember the way you choked. Who chokes on liquid?" She smirked.

"You don't have to remember the past Carla," he looked embarrassed.

"Try smelling it again. Once the smell hits your brain, you won't be able to resist it." She looked confident. There was no way I was going to smell that thing again. I'd rather die…. Even if I'm already dead, I'd die for the second time but not drink that.

"Isn't there something else here? Something like coffee or juice." I asked politely, trying to ignore the smell that burned my nasal cells.

"You can go through the menu, but this place is only for vampires, so you won't find anything here without blood. And consuming something which doesn't have haemoglobin will only satisfy you for an hour or two and you'll end up throwing it all out." Carla was definitely trying to scare me.

"There's an animal blood bank not far from here, but since it is on the verge of bankruptcy I'm not sure if they're still selling. You wanna try?" Xavier continued sharing his knowledge even though nobody asked.

"So you mean, this isn't animal blood ?" I doubted it was human blood.

"You can say it is…. Since humans are also considered animals, but trust me you can never quench your thirst with just animal blood, it's like salty water for us. You'll find yourself more thirsty." He continued sipping after completing his sentence. I probably had the weirdest expression on my face, whatever he said was like physics to me, impossible to understand. Actually I understood, but my brain wasn't processing after listening his words.

"I'll skip. Since vampires are immortals, I don't think I will die for not drinking blood. I can manage, just like Edward did." I slid the cup away.

"How do you know Edward?" Xavier and Carla both looked shocked.

"Who doesn't know Edward? The whole world knows him…" "That punk Edward," Carla slammed the glass so hard on the table that it shattered into pieces, "I told him to stay lowkey and not to wander in the human world, but he dared to disobey me… I'll pluck his eyeballs out and magnify sunlight 100 times and burn his skin until flesh falls out melting." She looked so scary, cursing Edward. I nearly had a mini heart attack.

"Look ma'am… I… I understand you're angry, but Robert… is a great man. I can't let you.. harm him like that." Being a true Twilighter, I couldn't let her harm my 5624th crush like that.

"And what does Robert have anything to do with thi…" "Wait, you know Robert as well?" This was the first time I saw someone cut off Carla.

"Aren't they the same people?" I was confused now.

"How could they be the same people? You're saying the great Robert and the troublemaker Edward are the same people… What a joke!" He scoffed.

"How dare you talk about my Edward like that?" I slammed the table really hard and stood up. Everybody present there started staring at me. I gave an awkward smile.

"I mean, how can you talk about Edward like that, he's one of the best vampires in history." I lowered my voice and slowly sat down.

"What do you mean by MY Edward?" Xavier looked at me suspiciously.

"I…." I blushed a little, "He's my childhood crush, hehe" I hardly smacked Xavier's shoulder and hid my face with both hands, blushing.

"That punk Edward…" Carla punched the table again, some people started leaving after seeing her agitated, "He dared to roam around flirting with little girls using Robert's name. I'll make sure he dies the moment I see him."
