Fading friendship

Kevin had his meals alone , he sat at the corner of the library all alone, he hardly went out for the past few weeks.He often dozed off waiting for Aaron but could hardly meet him at the hostel. People who always saw them together were not at all used to seeing them apart and often talked about if they had any rift between them.

Quickly rumours passed all over college about how they were not found together all the time.

He was soo lonely and sad about how Aaron completely forgot about him and was so drowned in Ashley's love forgetting all about Kevin. Kevin tries to meet him but always his attempts are in vain. Slowly the distance between them grew and the friendship they had was fading away which Aaron didn't find out being too blinded by love.

Kevin was sitting in the library with many thoughts rushing over his head. Then a guy approached him.

Michael: "Hey ! can I sit here? All the seats are taken."

Kevin: (lifts his head to look around and then nods )

Michael: Hi, I am Michael Fisher. ( he introduces himself with a big smile)

Kevin: Hi, I am Kevin Carter. (he replies with a plain expression)

Michael: I know you buddy. we are in the same class. I sit right across you in the class.

Kevin: Sorry i didn't notice you. (he said with an awkward smile)

Michael: Hey cool man, i know you are always with Aaron and you barely talk to anyone.

Kevin: (He just forces a smile and continues reading his book)

Michael: Hey do you want to go shopping with me I need to buy some groceries.

Kevin: Sorry, I have plans.

Michael: Really dude? you can turn me down directly if you don't like it. Everyone knows your daily routine. You barely talk to anyone or go out.

Kevin: No it's not like that , i am just not used to going shopping.

Michael: But I often saw you shopping out with Aaron. Is it that you are not into shopping or don't want to go shopping with me?

Kevin: Hey ! it's not like that. Ok i will go with you.

Michael: That's like a good boy. come on let's go.(holds Kevin's hand and pull him out of the library )

Kevin leaves with him to the mall nearby their college and they both shop for things , eat and spend some good time together. Kevin finally smiles and is himself after a long time. They get to know each other better and talk about their families and where they are from and a lot more stuff.

Finally tired from all the activities they both start feeling hungry and decide to go eat at a diner.

They both enter a diner and find themselves seats. Michael pulls a chair out and signals Kevin to take the seat. Kevin was so surprised by the way Michael treated him throughout the day as he was never treated that way by anyone before.

Kevin takes the seat and Micheal makes way to the seat opposite to Kevin and they both get settled in.

Michael: Kevin, what would you like to order?

Kevin: I would like to have a salad. I am not very hungry.

Michael: What are you dieting? You should definitely try their steak here it's so smooth and tender. You will definitely love it. You should also try desserts here they are very tasty.

Kevin: Sure. whatever you recommend as I have never been here before.

Michael:(calls for a waiter and places the order.) Hey Kevin are we friends now?

Kevin: (he was surprised at his question as he was not expecting it) I guess we are now. (he smiles )

Michael:I saw you on the first day of our class and always wanted to talk to you but hardly got a chance to come to you. I was also scared to be given a cold shoulder.

Kevin: Why would I do that? you could have talked to me earlier. we could have been good friends by now.

Michael: It's never too late , we can still be real good friends. ( he says in a teasing tone)

Kevin: yes of course (he chuckles)

Then the food arrives and they both complete their dinner and head back to the hostel chitchatting throughout the way.

Kevin was soo happy after a long time and was smiling widely. When he entered the hostel to his shock Aaron was in the hallway waiting for him and was very angry. once he saw Kevin he rushed to him with anger.

Aaron: Where the hell were you? I couldn't even reach you on the phone. Where is your phone ???
