Leonardo was bored staying in that room, so he decided to go downstairs and explore the opulent and cold golden mansion. Descending the stairs, he passed through the door, only to be stopped by two security guards.
"Relax, I'm not going to run away, I just want to have a stroll around," Leonardo said.
"You need to stay inside, sir," one of the guards replied.
Rolling his eyes at the intimidating security guard blocking his way, Leonardo sighed. "Really? Can't I even enjoy some sun in the garden?"
Before the security guard could respond, a firm voice interrupted from behind. "Let him go. I'll accompany him."
The guard agreed and stepped aside, allowing Leonardo to pass, but he stood still, looking at the man. Immediately, Leonardo recognized him.
"Hi, Louis. Thank you," Leonardo said.
"I'm not Louis, I'm Robert," the man replied.
Leonardo walked towards the garden, and Robert followed at a quick pace.
"Robert? But then..." Leonardo looked at Robert in surprise, realizing that he looked identical to Louis, the one who had brought him to the mansion. It became clear to Leonardo that they were twin brothers.
"Yes, we're twins," Robert confirmed.
They walked through the expansive garden, and Leonardo was amazed at its grandeur. One side featured a large leisure area with a pool, while the other side had a sprawling flower garden with a table and four chairs. In the center, there was a gazebo. Leonardo smiled and walked along the stone path towards the gazebo, with Robert watching him from a distance.
"Wow, this place is magnificent, unlike..." Leonardo spoke as he climbed onto the gazebo. But as he looked back, he realized he was alone. He turned towards the house, and Robert stood there, still as a statue, watching him from afar. Leonardo shrugged, resting his arms on the gazebo wall, and admired the surroundings. He closed his eyes for a moment, letting the sound of birds and the gentle rustling of the trees in the wind calm his anxieties about what his future would hold.
He was interrupted from this peaceful moment by loud voices that sounded like an argument. When he glanced back in the direction where Robert had been, he saw the brothers arguing, and one of them was approaching quickly. It was difficult to tell which one it was, as both were wearing identical black suits.
"You need to go inside, they are waiting for you," the impatient man said.
"I'm confused, first tell me who you are. Louis or Robert?" Leonardo asked.
The man took a deep breath before answering. "I'm Robert, now let's go. You need to accompany me."
"Okay, I'll go, but who is waiting for me? Is it Frank?" Leonardo asked as they walked along the stone path, with Louis still appearing angry.
"No, Mr. Gold is not here," the man replied.
Leonardo and the two brothers entered the mansion and headed up to the room. Upon entering, Leonardo was surprised to find a young man and a woman there.
"Well, finally, young man. I don't have all day. It's disrespectful to keep me waiting," Leonardo looked amazed at the man with a disgusted look on his face. To make matters worse, he seemed arrogant.
"Hey, hold on. I wasn't expecting anyone. No one informed me you were here. So, who are you, and why are you here?" Leonardo crossed his arms, feeling offended by the man's behavior. The woman beside him hugged him for support.
"I'm Aron Valentin, the best stylist in New York. I'm here at Mr. Gold's request. Now, stop delaying me; I have limited time to fix all of this," he said, pointing his finger in a circular motion at Leonardo, who didn't appreciate the gesture.
"I don't need you. There's nothing that needs to be changed here."
"Oh, there is. Let's get started. Mr. Gold won't be pleased if you arrive late," Aron insisted, pulling Leonardo to sit on a chair while the woman approached with a cape and covered him.
They cut his hair in a modern style, then proceeded to take care of his fingernails—cutting, filing, and even applying a base, despite Leonardo's complaints.
After what Leonardo felt must have been an eternity, they both applauded, looking at him as he stood ready in his black suit with a tailcoat, a white dress shirt, a bow tie, and the formal shoes he had received earlier.
"There you go, a true work of art," Aron exclaimed.
"Yeah, I like it."
He says, looking at himself in the mirror, but there was still a great uncertainty in his mind. What was all this production for? Were they going somewhere?
Just as he was about to ask Aron, he heard knocks on the bedroom door. Anne, the girl who was with them, rushed to open it, and one of the twins was standing there waiting. He had an earphone on, just like Leonardo had seen on TV, worn by security chiefs at major presidential events.
"Robert or Louis?"
"Robert, I'll make it easy for you. I'll be your security, so you don't have to ask every time you see me, okay?"
Leonardo raised his eyebrows, appearing curious about this. Did he really need a security guard, or was it just a way to keep an eye on him so he wouldn't escape?
"Okay, Robert," he said, emphasizing the security guard's name, who seemed grumpier than his brother. "I don't have another choice, so be it."
"You need to come downstairs, Mr. Gold is getting impatient."
"Do you happen to know where we're going?"
"To a ball, it has already started, and he is waiting for you."
"A ball? Great. I love parties."
Leonardo felt excited about the idea of a ball. Not because of the ball itself, but because of the various ways he could escape from there.
"Alright, let's go then."
Leonardo was about to leave but was stopped by Aron, who held him back and handed him a black mask.
"Missing the final touch."
Leonardo took the mask and put it on his face, then proceeded to leave the room accompanied by Robert at his back.
