Leonardo looked confused at Frank, who was carrying him in his arms. He wanted to break free but he was feeling so weak that he relaxed his body in those strong arms as being taken to the room.
"If you're not feeling well, you should lie down. You could have collapsed. Stop being so reckless." said Frank, who put Leonardo on the bed and glared at him irritably. Why did Leonardo get on his nerves like this? Why couldn't he just cooperate?
"I really don't care, but you still owe me," Frank replied.
"A debt that could easily be forgotten since I took a bullet for you, right?" Leonardo retorted.
"Don't mix things up, Mr. Guerrero," Frank warned.
Leonardo stood up to confront him, but quickly sat back down due to weakness and dizziness. It was only then that Frank noticed his clothes on Leonardo's body. They were comically oversized on his slender figure. Frank found it amusing and smiled, while Leonardo looked at him with irritation.
"What's so funny, golden boy?"
Frank noticed Leonardo's blood-stained T-shirt, and the wound was bleeding again. This worried him, and he took a deep breath.
"It's nothing. Just stay there quietly. I'll call the doctor to check your wound, as it's bleeding again." Leonardo looked down at his chest and saw the blood there. He placed his hand over the shirt, felt a slight pain, and watched Frank leaving the room. He lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling. His mind wandered and he was thinking about his father. How was he doing? He couldn't help but worry that if something happened, he wouldn't be there to help him.
Taking a deep breath, he decided that as soon as Frank returned, he would at least ask for news about his father. Leaving that place for now was out of the question.
Leonardo woke up feeling a burning sensation in his chest. When he opened his eyes, there was someone leaning over him. A blonde woman with glasses was tending to his wound, and next to her stood Frank, arms crossed.
"Is it bad?" The doctor was startled to hear Leonardo speak and gave him a slight smile.
"It could be better. When you left the hospital, the doctor prescribed medications for you to take care of this, but from what I can see, you haven't even used them here." Leonardo was about to reply, but Frank intervened to prevent him from saying too much.
"This recklessness will be corrected, Dr. Calarri. Don't worry. I've already sent someone to fetch those medications."
Leonardo looked at Frank as if he could shoot lasers from his eyes, but he decided to stay quiet. He wouldn't provoke the golden beast's wrath again, especially not in front of the doctor. Who knew if he might hurt her too? He couldn't put her in danger.
As soon as the doctor left, Leonardo sat on the bed, ready to confront him.
"Recklessness? Oh yes, I agree with you. Total recklessness on your part to treat me like garbage and leave me in that filthy basement."
Frank glared at Leonardo, irritated by his disrespectful tone once again. How could he have audacity to defy him like this?
"You better watch what you say if you don't want to go back down there."
Leonardo lay back down. He didn't want to test that man, nor did he want to return to that cold and smelly basement. He needed to know about his father. But would Frank even care?
"Can I ask you something?" Leonardo spoke softly and calmly, hoping that his tone would have a positive effect on Frank, who was about to leave the room. Frank turned around and looked at Leonardo, waiting for him to continue his words.
"I'd like to know about my father. I'm worried about him."
Leonardo carefully chose his words, trying to convince Frank to disclose some information. But Frank said nothing and just walked out of the room, leaving silence to fill the space and Leonardo frustrated.
"Arrogant golden boy," he muttered, rolling his eyes and pulling the blanket to cover his bare chest. After a few minutes of cursing Frank in his thoughts, Leonardo sat up as Ella entered the room with a tray in her hands and smiled at her.
"Hello, Leonardo. I brought your dinner. I made a savoury soup to help you recover, and here are your medications."
She placed the tray on his lap, as he looked at the food with a wonderful aroma. Next to the plate, he saw the pills and a glass of water.
"Thank you, Ella. With these treats, I'll improve soon and get out of this house."
"Can I give you some advice?"
Leonardo, who was already eating, looked at her curiously and nodded in agreement.
"Play his game, and you'll get everything you want."
"I don't know if I can. He's arrogant, selfish, and he... he drives me crazy. I hate him."
Ella smiled and took a deep breath.
"Maybe one day, you'll see him differently, young man."
Ella ran her hand through Leonardo's tousled hair and left the room, leaving him with his meal and her words echoing in his mind. How could he see Frank in a different light? That guy is a disgusting and despicable brute.
He went on eating and took the pills. After leaving the tray on the table next to the bed, he lay down again and felt drowsy due to the lingering fever and the medication taking effect.
