Episode 5

...Adriel...

Mike: So, what are you doing with that bottle of whiskey from my collection?

Adriel: Uh, well, you see...

Mike: I'm still listening.

AAA

I sighed and then replied,

Adriel: It's for my father-in-law.

Mike: Your father-in-law?

He asks, raising an eyebrow.

Adriel: Yes, Dad, it's complicated, okay? But it's for my father-in-law.

Mike: Are you saying that you've found your mate?

He asks, eyes wide with surprise.

Adriel: Something like that, Dad.

Mike: And who is your father-in-law?

Adriel: The Alpha Estefano and the Luna William.

Mike: WHAT???

Adriel: Now you see why I need to bring something impressive.

Mike: Dang, he's not going to be happy when he finds out.

Adriel: Tell me about it.

I mutter, recalling the beating I received that day.

Adriel: Now, just imagine when they find out who my mate is—the one they're most protective of.

Mike: Tell me more.

Adriel: I'll fill you in when I get back.

Mike: Okay, son, but later you must bring your mate to the pack, understood?

Adriel: Yeah, sure.

If only he knew who my mate is.

I carefully take the whiskey bottle and head outside where John awaits, all dressed up in a suit.

Adriel: Goodness, who are you going to see—the King Alpha?

I tease him.

John: Don't be an idiot. I want to make a good impression on my in-laws.

He responds with a frown.

Adriel: Hey, show some respect.

John: No, you're my brother-in-law, and I intend to win over my in-laws to become the favorite son-in-law, though from what I’ve seen in your memories, I don't think it'll be too hard.

We laugh and get into the car.

As we drive, my heart races with excitement at the thought of meeting my in-laws again.

Upon arrival at the gate, a group of warriors searches us and, after confirming our names, they allow us to enter the pack.

When we reach the mansion, Leonardo is already waiting outside.

John: Buddy, I'm nervous. How will I know who my mate is?

Adriel: Relax, brother, Leonardo will introduce us.

John: But will she recognize me?

Adriel: Remember, her transformation won't happen until next year. You can't scent her wolf yet, but it's still good for them to get acquainted, right?

John: True, you have a point.

Leonardo: Buddy, how are you? I thought you might not come.

Adriel: Of course, I'd come.

I pick up the flowers I brought for my sisters-in-law and my father-in-law William.

Leonardo: Parents, this is my friend Adriel.

Adriel: Nice to meet you; these are for you.

William: Oh, thank you, such a gentleman.

Grrr, I hear a growl and instantly know where it comes from.

Adriel: And this is for you, Alpha Estefano.

I say as I hand him the whiskey box, which he eyes with suspicion but then takes. I give the flowers to my sisters-in-law.

I notice how my sister-in-law Nia freezes, as does John.

Adriel: John, snap out of it.

I whisper to him.

He seems to come to his senses and hands out the flowers, giving Nia hers with a goofy smile, causing her to blush.

Estefano: Okay, son, I'm not sure what's happening here, but please make sure your friends stay away from my daughters.

My father-in-law speaks out, possessively as usual.

Adriel: Well, there's still one more gift.

I return to the car to fetch the stuffed toy I've scented for my little one. He can't detect it yet, but it will be marked for any other wolf.

I know I said I'd be less possessive, but I can't help myself—he's just so beautiful.

He comes over, I hand him the gift, and he happily hugs it.

Kevin: I like it. How did you know what I wanted?

Adriel: You see, little one.

It wasn't hard to guess—he's always wanted giant stuffed animals.

Everything was going fine, the gathering was enjoyable, and I saw the others, happy but obviously drawn to my little one. I sneaked a peek into their minds and knew they were always watchful, even claimed to love another, but the pictures said otherwise.

That disturbed me, so I made sure to stay close to my omega.

Two hours later, the Italian uncles arrived. Upon seeing Uncle Lucas, I breathed a sigh. He approached with a smile.

Lucas Castell: I see you're getting closer to the family.

Adriel: I have to. I need to look after my little one and do things right this time.

Lucas Castell: You better, because I could take him from you.

Adriel: That won't happen. By the way, I wanted to ask if...

Lucas Castell: I know what you're going to ask. Don't worry, train hard, even your spells, even though you know some, you need to build strength to withstand them until you're ready.

Adriel: And when will that be?

Lucas Castell: I'll let you know when you're ready. Now, I'm going to eat, and you should try to impress your in-laws, especially Leonardo.

Adriel: Hey, do you think I should tell my parents and Leonardo?

Lucas: You could confide in your father; he'll help ensure you don’t make any blunders. As for Leo, I wouldn’t—he won't like what you did to his brother; you know he's the family's jewel.

Adriel: Okay, thanks.

I bade him farewell, and after a while, I said goodbye to Leonardo to go back to my pack. Both John and I were reluctant to leave, but it was necessary.

Upon reaching the pack, I decided to tell my father, who was greatly upset. After a lengthy talk, he finally concluded,

Mike: How come you're now getting close to that omega? He's a child; you're 18, and he's only 6. Don't you think the family will be suspicious of you hanging around them all the time?

Adriel: Yes, Dad, I know it doesn't look good.

Mike: You should focus on training. I will, too, along with the warriors. We need to be ready for what's coming.
