Episode 13

Before falling into the void, large hands held onto my hand tightly; I slowly looked up, seeing the same man who forcibly took me and locked me in that horrible room the night before.

I tried to free myself from his grasp, but with just a look from him, my body remained still.

"No, darling. You must come with me. It is not yet time for you to die!" whispered the man named Miki, forcefully pushing my body upwards on the bridge.

With a simple pull from him, my body turned back around, falling into his arms. I don't know what happened, but within seconds, everything around me started spinning in my head. I placed my hand on Miki's neck to keep myself from collapsing.

"She's burning with fever!" he exclaimed, lifting my body in his arms.

I rested my head against his chest, feeling incredibly weak, shivering all over my body. All I wanted was to close my eyes and never open them again, but I know that would be impossible.

Miki hurried towards one of the two vans parked a few steps away from us.

As Miki approached, one of the men who accompanied him opened the van door and carefully placed me in the backseat.

"Sir..." the man sitting in the driver's seat mentioned.

"To the Shop mansion," ordered Miki in a cold voice.

He then placed his hand on my forehead, realizing that I was burning with fever, his expression filled with annoyance.

"Damn it! Lawrence will be furious when he sees her like this..."

"Make sure the doctor is ready as soon as we arrive at the mansion," he commanded the man sitting in the passenger seat once again.

I leaned my head against the window pane, gradually closing my eyes.

I couldn't bear keeping my eyes open any longer, my eyelids felt extremely heavy. I no longer cared where this man was taking me.

I got out of bed with Santiago's help, slowly sitting on the sofa near the window.

Sofia handed me two very strong painkillers to alleviate the pain in my body. For the past two hours, I haven't felt any pain, allowing me to work with the help of my laptop.

"Has Miki called?" I asked one of the men who had been taking care of me.

"No, sir," he replied.

It was already past noon, and I hadn't received any information from Miki yet. Every passing second increased my anxiety. I hope he hasn't disobeyed my orders and is not wasting his time with one of his mistresses.

"Miki will bring that woman. Just wait a few more minutes," Santiago said, patting my shoulder.

"Touch me again, and I will kill you slowly," I coldly replied.

Santiago simply lowered his gaze and continued working on the new actions I was going to buy. I want to be the first in everything, and my companies are on the verge of surpassing Wlod Enterprises.

Just one step away from becoming number one in the business world, I love it. Power is one of my greatest addictions.

"Sir Shop..."

I heard the voice of one of the employees entering my room, immediately raising my gaze to look at him.

The man approached me, stopping in front of Santiago and me with lowered eyes.

"Speak," I commanded.

"Mr. Miki called a moment ago, requesting the doctor to be ready upon their arrival..."

"Has something happened to him?" Santiago asked, concerned about Miki.

"No, sir. Mr. Miki is fine. What we know is that the woman accompanying him is ill."

"Marcela?" I whispered with concern.

"I don't know her name, sir... I only know she's the woman who's with him," the employee finished saying.

"Prepare the room next to mine!" I ordered, disregarding Santiago's astonished look.

Santiago is so shocked by the decision I've made that he grabs me by the shoulders again, staring at me with his mouth open.

"Did I hear correctly? Lawrence, you will give her the room next to yours."

"Is there a problem with the decision I've made?" I respond to Santiago's absurd question.

Immediately, Santiago starts shaking his head like a fool, his hands gripping my shoulders even tighter.

"Lawrence, have you forgotten the significance of that room?"

I shake Santiago's hands off my shoulders, narrowing my eyes to show my impatience.

"For your own good, don't meddle in things that don't concern you," I tell Santiago in a threatening tone.

"I'm sorry, Lawrence, but I was just surprised to hear that girl would be taking Ruby's place," Santiago says, mentioning that woman's name again.

I grab him by the collar with all my strength, allowing myself to be consumed by the hatred I still feel for Ruby. I can't bear to hear her name.

"Lawrence, let go of me!" I release Santiago's collar as I realize I could have killed him.

"Get out!" I order, pointing angrily at the door to my room.

Santiago gets up from the couch, his gaze lowered in shame.

"Lawrence, I'm sorry. It wasn't my intention to mention that woman."

"Don't you understand? Get out!" I scream at the top of my lungs, disregarding the pain from my wounds.

The wounds I thought were already closed have been reopened. Just by hearing Ruby's name, thousands of demons are unleashed within my soul, the kind that break you down to the depths of your being.

They are demons that I struggle to control, the kind that, if not confined, would eventually turn me back into the person I once was.
