No greedy human?

Once again so was the sun looking up over the horizon, calling out for another day.

In the middle of the misty forest so was a waggon following the road, carrying three dead boars.

The driver was a young woman with shoulder-long blond hair and a with vulgar forms.

Behind her, lying under a blanket, was a young and thin girl with short, white, hair. She, Rose, was almost sleeping after a fun night's hunting. All with the simple intent of getting Helena some meat she could sell in the next town they visited as a kind of payment for the kindness Helena had shown Rose.

Rose was satisfied with the hunts and the amount of meat she'd secured, even if the three last hunts had been less exciting and playful than the first one. Which Helena had decided they would leave where it lay. And even though Rose had a feeling it was a dumb idea to leave the boar there, so did she give in to what Helena wanted.

"Are you still awake, Rose?" Out of nowhere, so did Helena ask the question.

"I'm still awake, Helena. But I'm tired." Rose wasn't even moving as she answered, exhausted by the night's fun. And if it wouldn't have been Helena asking, so wouldn't she have been able to answer for what happened.

"Do you wish me to wake you up when we reach the town?"

Rose only answered with a breeze growl, falling deeper and deeper into her slumber. Hoping Helena understood her positive answer.

"I'll take that as a yes." Helena did understand what she wished to have said, answering with a joyful tone. Making it clear that she was the one of them who had been sleeping during the night.

But caring less about it so did Rose concentrate on the surrounding, finding the waggon's movement strangely relaxing.

Rose could see the hellhole she escaped, in her dream, as she all of a sudden was standing in front of the massive mansion. All the windows were still bared up, an attempt to stop any possible escape. Which she was a living example of its failure.

There were also a handful of knights, all frozen in place as if the time had stopped.

Her tiny heart was beating faster as she watched the horrific place. She didn't want to be there, not for anything in the world. Not even if it just was a dream and the flow of time had come to a halt.

Looking at the house even more, so did she notice a single figure close to the roof, also frozen in place as the figure seemed to have thrown itself over the edge.

Yet another attempt by someone to escape, which wouldn't end well in any way.

Even though they all were Demon lords, so wasn't there any of them being full-fledged Demon lord. And Rose, who had been the strongest of them, knew from her own experience that a fall like that just would send them to the nurse and then put them back in the hellish situation.

"Didn't they learn anything back then?" Rose couldn't help but think out loud as she thought about her own experience of it, which had been in a different matter since she's been thrown off by the biddy.

"They'll never learn, Dear Sandra. They'll never learn, just like you never will understand the importance of the training."

Her heart sank fast and Rose frantic looked around herself as she slowly moved backwards. Scared of the biddy speaking up, still nowhere to be seen. But her overwhelming aura was clearly there.

"I don't mind the training, but I do mind the pain and suffering." She couldn't even think of how many times she and the others had been injured. But it was enough for carving in the disgusting sound of bones breaking in her mind.

"It's necessary with some suffering for children to grow up strong." "So I suggest you come back to me and continue your training before I come and fetch you myself." The biddy's voice hastily turned from gentle to harsh and threatening. And Rose could tell that the biddy was serious.

"I'll NOT return. And I rather die before letting anyone get their hands on me!" Rose would make sure to never return to the hellhole, even if she would need to leave Helena to make sure the biddy couldn't use her against her.

The surrounding started to move. The knights didn't seem to see her, simply continuing to guard the ground. Till a sickening and wet crash echoed through the plane. The figure, a boy, had also started to move and had hit the ground.

"I think it's about time for you to wake up, Rose."

Helena's voice cut through all the noises surrounding her, and reminded Rose it only was a dream. Meaning the biddy wouldn't be able to get her hands on her.

In a blink of an eye so was Rose staring down at the floor of the waggon, flooded with relief to not be back in the hellhole.

"Are we soon there, Helena?" Hoping the kind woman would respond, even just barely, just to show this wasn't just another dream.

"Yes. We're soon there, and if you wishes so can you see the town from where we're now, Rose."

Glad Helena had answered her without missing a beat, and it felt more real this time than back then.

A slight yawn escaped her as she sat up, looking at Helena's back and the view in front of them.

The sun hung high in the sky, with only a few clouds floating across it.

The waggon was at the top of a hill, and, just as Helena said, there was a town further down. Which looked better than the last village they'd been visiting.

"Do you still think we'll be able to sell the meat, Helena?" Rose looked at the cadavers as she asked, satisfied with the fruit of her hunt. But she could still not push away the worry in her heart.

"I think we'll be able to sell the meat. I looked at it earlier, and it looks better than I thought during the early hours." Helena's answer was comforting, giving her hope she would be able to give back to Helena for the good deeds she has done for Rose. As the wonderful act of giving her new clothes and a name.

Another uncomfortable feeling was sneaking up on her, a feeling that someone was spying on her again.

"Do you think there might be people watching us, Helena?" It was the same feeling as when the biddy had spoken to her in the dream. But even if Rose was worried it could be connected to the biddy, so she had to ask if Helena had another opinion on it, maybe knowing something about humans that could explain why other humans were watching them.

"It might be true the hunters might give us some glimpses as we pass during their hunt." Helena turned and gave Rose a gentle smile.

Deciding to trust Helena's words, Rose tried to suppress her worries. Hoping that it would be easier as they reached the town.

"Just so I know beforehand. Is there something you want me to buy with the money from the meat, Rose?" "No. The money is for you, Helena." Rose didn't think twice before answering honestly.

The girl moved from the back of the waggon to the front seat beside Helena. Which didn't have anything to do with Helena's question, but it was only because Rose felt like sitting there instead of in the back.

"Are you sure about that, Rose? It'll be some fine money if we find the right buyer." Helena said that, but wouldn't it have been the same for the clothes she gave Rose? Which she was determent to repay in the same kin, "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.", as they said.

She once again confirmed that it was how she wanted it, also sure Helena would've better use of the money than herself.

The town had looked good from a distance but looked even better up close.

The houses didn't look as if they would fall apart from the slightest thing, and some of the houses along the road looked like shops. Some with meat hanging beside their door, giving off a gorgeous scent.

The two girls had just entered the town when Helena stopped the waggon and asked a citizen which shop would be good selling meat to, pointing out the boars in the back. "They were hunted the last night, so they're as fresh as they can be, Sir."

Rose only gave their conversation a glimpse before turning her attention toward the hanged meat, almost able to taste it already.

The man pointed and directed Helena to a shop that would fit their request. Not along the road, but it was because the meat wasn't cut up. Still, so did Helena thank the man and set off again.

"Just by the look at his face, so does it seem like this will go well." Helena sounded strangely happy about it? Had it gone that well?

Rose couldn't tell, but as long as Helena seemed glad about it, so would Rose probably be glad about it. Even though it somehow would be like when she was glad for the others to succeed back in the hellhole, which had turned out to be empty as human promises.

It hadn't taken Helena long to sell the meat as soon she met the butcher, which also had praised them for their haul. And just by judging from how Helena looked, so had it gone really well. Almost so well that Rose had expected Helena to burst out singing afterwards.

"Do you wish me to continue hunting when we leave the city, Helena?" Rose hadn't minded the hunt the slightest and was ready to continue if Helena wished so.

"If it shouldn't be that I have to get back home, so wouldn't I've minded your help and to force a cut of the profit upon you, Rose."

Force a cut of the profit upon her? Didn't that mean Helena would try to force some of the money upon her? Wasn't Helena a human, which was well-known to be greedy and take more than what belonged to them?

She carefully watched Helena with large eyes, trying to figure out if she had just heard a lie or not.

Helena rapidly noticed Rose's look and smiled for herself, "And yes. I would've forced you to accept it. Even if it would've been necessary to pay you with things."

Helena's words didn't change Rose's confusion, which slowly bubbling under the surface.

She was sure Helena was a human. But she wasn't greedy, she didn't steal, and she wasn't self-centered. All of the home marks of a human.

Rose did trust her, but she'd a growing, nagging, feeling that another nature of humans could be in place. Humans were the falsest kind of being, and had been able to trick all kinds of creatures.

There was no way she wanted to think bad about Helena, but she was worried there could be a risk Helena did pull on her.
