"May I ask where we're going, Helena? And how long I'm allowed to come along?" Rose cracked a wide smile while talking, enjoying the ride.
"I don't know if I said it before, but I'm heading toward the town where I live." Helena kept her eyes at the road while talking. "And if you want, so are you free to follow me the whole way, Rose. And maybe even settle down there, if you wish to do so."
Rose could feel a good vibration in her thin body and soul. She couldn't understand why, but she couldn't remember the night after she'd tried the wine. And had woken up in the waggon, feeling much better than she ever had. Ever better than when she had killed those men hunting her during that life-changing night.
"I'll consider that option, especially if the town is in another region than this." Rose couldn't know if she still was in the region the biddy handled, but she wouldn't risk anything. She had to escape the region, which was why she could consider staying in Helena's town if it was in another region. Otherwise so maybe she only would stay there till she knew where she would head afterward.
"If you mean another region than where I found you, so can I tell you that it's." Was Helena serious? It was wonderful news for her.
The sun was shining down at them and the wind was kindly stroking Rose's skin.
She'd been talking non-stop with Helena, throwing tons of questions at her about the things she didn't know. Which was more things than they would be able to cover during a couple of days. And Rose was sure that they did have time for just that.
"Might I ask you if you still are wasted, or do you just act like that for the fun of it, Rose?" Helena faced her, still keeping an eye at the road, as she asked with a hesitant tone.
"Have I been acting as I'm wasting something, Helena?" Rose couldn't think of that she'd been wasting anything. At least not as she could remember, but she couldn't answer for the time she couldn't remember. But it was probably not what Helena had been thinking about.
"Either so have you lost it, or so are you still wasted." Helena dropped a heavy sigh after speaking, "What do you think about grabbing a blanket and take a shuteye behind me?" Was Helena getting tired of her already? Even though Rose was in such great mood?
Thinking about it for a short moment so did Rose feel like it maybe could be a nice idea. Maybe some sleep could do her well, she was slightly tired, and she didn't even know if she'd slept during the night. Not that she thought some sleep would change her mood.
Moving back and taking a blanket she found, pulling it over herself. It was indeed comfortable and relaxing. "Will we be sleeping in a village tonight, or will we be sleeping in the wild again?" Rose didn't care what they did, only asking because she wanted to talk a little more.
"We'll be sleeping in the wild a couple of nights forward, but we'll pass through a town of hunters tomorrow." "So if you're lucky so might we buy some fine meat tomorrow, Rose?"
"Do you think they will buy meat from us?" Rose hadn't thought about it earlier, but maybe it could be a good idea to hunt down some prey if it could help Helena. And considering how much Helena had helped her already, so could this the least Rose could do for her.
"I honestly don't know. I've never tried to sell meat to them, but neither so have I ever transported unprepared meat." Helena wasn't helping her in any way, but Rose would leave it as that for now. But she would bring it up when they'd stopped for the evening.
The moons were sneaking up at the sky, as the sun left, together with the stars.
Rose was slowly waking up, still feeling jolly. Getting up and watching Helena starting the campfire, soon notice that she'd slept away most of the day.
"Have I missed anything, Helena." Rose spoke up as soon as she'd jumped of the waggon and walked up to the woman.
"You've only been missing a stretch of road and a horse's arse." Helena seemed to have noticed that Rose woke up, not getting startled by her voice. "How are you feeling after some sleeping, Rose." Rapidly following up with a question.
"I'm still feeling tired, but otherwise so do I think I feel as good as before I went to sleep."
"And may I ask if you've been thinking about what I said earlier, Helena. The idea about if it would be possible to sell meat to the next village?" Rose hadn't been able to let go of the idea, not even during her sleep. And even though she couldn't remember what she dreamt so was she sure she'd been hunting.
"I still don't know, Rose. But if you're willing to hunt, in the same manner as you fought the wolves. So could we give it a shot." Helena seemed to be more along with the idea this time around, and had also understood Rose's idea to hunt for some fresh meat.
Rose ran through the the forest, in the cover of the night, as she tried to pick up any possible scents.
She didn't know which scent would turn out to be the right, and honestly so wasn't she sure which animal was fine and which wasn't. But she would still give it a short.
The longer time she spent in the dark, the better she felt she could see her surroundings.
After a short time's running so did she pick up a scent, hoping it was a good scent so did she follow it. At last finding her prey.
A round, fat, animal with a low back, short legs and a long and round nose. Yet another thing Rose knew nothing about, but she would bring it back to Helena and hear what she'd to say.
The creature didn't notice Rose until she already was too close, watching her with its black eyes filled with surprise.
The girl raised her hand and let out her claws, aiming them toward the creature. Which leaped toward her with an intense power.
Rose turned her body, letting it pass. Stopping and watching its behind, rapidly deciding that she'd a golden opportunity. Launching herself at it, almost, before it'd landed. Catching its back and digging her claws into it, biting down in its neck. Listening to the high shriek.
But just as fast so was she thrown off, merely able to land on her feet. Keeping her eyes on it as it burst out in another spring toward her.
Rose moved to the side, as it was close, and sliced it over the side. Hastily facing it again, smiling for herself.
She felt good hunting something. And even though she knew she shouldn't be playing with her prey, so was it just what she did. But it wasn't anything she could help, she found it too fun to not make the most out it.
The silence was slowly returning to the area as the fun hunt had come to an end.
Rose's mind felt clearer than earlier, still almost just as joyful, as she scouted her surrounding. Sure there was something watching her. Another prey or an enemy, either case so would she make sure it regretted spying on her.
Still, she couldn't see anything strange, nor was there any strange scent.
The thin and blood stained girl looked down at her prey, dead and yet bleeding on the ground. She was satisfied with the kill, even though she maybe could've been more serious.
The cadaver was filled with cuts and its pelt was coloured deep red by the blood. Would they really be able to sell it?
She couldn't tell and would need to ask Helena about it, who surely knew much more about trading than she did herself. Meaning that the only thing she could do for the moment was to pick it up and being it to Helena. A bothersome task, but it was, honestly, the only thing she could do to get an answer.
Helena looked at the cadaver in disbelieve, "And you was able to hunt down a forest-boar, Rose?"
"Yes. And I'd a good time killing it." Rose was still high on the kill, able to ignore the fact that Helena questioned her abilities.
"I see."
Helena's blond hair was playing in the wind as she looked at the boar, thinking hardly about something.
"I honestly don't know if we can sell this, Rose." "You've done a good job hunting it... But the boar looks as if it have fallen prey to a wild beast., and then left. Meaning it can look as it has been too sick to be eaten." Did Helena just call Rose for a beast?!
Rose didn't like it. She wasn't anything close to a depraved human, and it was something even Helena should be able to tell without a second thought.
"Isn't you too harsh, Helena? I mean... I did my best to hunt it." Rose was proud of herself. She'd taken down a prey and brought it back, so Helena could be grateful for that.
"It's nothing like that, Rose. I don't mean it as I'm looking down at your ability. But I do mean that it might be difficult to sell the game, because of how it looks." Helena was speaking fast and apologetic, using wide movements with her hands while talking.
"So you would want me to injure it less before killing it?" Was it what it all was about? That Helena wanted her to play less with the prey before killing it?
"If we just look at it, so doesn't it look good that it'a bitten in the neck, or that it's clawed over its whole body. It makes it look as if the boar is a victim to another animal, who have left it." So it'd really been what Helena had meant. Rose could somehow understand it, but at the same time so didn't it make any sense.
Wasn't almost every human eating another human's prey. Which the human in question didn't want to eat themself.
"Do you think it'll be to much with an attack to the head, Helena? Which will kill it fast?" Thinking about it so shouldn't it be difficult for Rose to just shove her claws into her prey's head and kill it with a single blow. Which wouldn't be as fun, but if it was better for Helena, so could she accept it for this time.
"It sounds good enough, Rose. And as I said, so am I grateful for the first boar, but I just think we can sell it." Helena followed herself up with a wide and warming smile, making Rose feeling just as glad she been during the slaughter.
