Episode 19

After finishing getting ready, Diana left the room to accompany Antonio to the civil registry.

"It's already too late," Diana commented, glancing at the time on her watch.

"Yes, I think we are running very late," Aria replied, feeling a bit anxious about the time.

Since it was already past eight in the morning, Diana could imagine that her future husband would be furious with her delay.

Just as Diana was about to descend the stairs, she was stopped by Aria. The woman stared intensely at the girl in front of her for a few seconds, then embraced Diana with all her strength.

"My child, I'm going to miss you so much," Aria said, kissing Diana's cheeks.

Aria hoped that Diana and Edwin could fall in love over time, that he would realize Diana wasn't Emma, and the extent of the damage his family had done to her.

Only then could she partially mend the damage caused by her silence. If she hadn't kept the secret that Emma was the one who pushed her mother down the stairs and that Diana was innocent, perhaps Diana's life wouldn't be so miserable.

"I'll be fine, nanny, don't worry," Diana managed to say.

Upon reaching the ground floor, Diana didn't see anyone there. She assumed her parents must already be in the car since they had gotten ready early.

Diana continued walking until she reached Antonio. Diana stopped when she didn't see either of her parents nearby.

Seeing Diana standing a few steps away from the car, Antonio quickly got out and hastened to open the door.

"Miss Wlop, please get in the car. We are already very late," Antonio said, a bit annoyed with the girl beside him.

Diana promptly got into the car, hoping that neither of her parents would accompany her to her wedding.

Within seconds, the car started moving away from the Wlop mansion. Throughout the drive, Diana remained silently deep in thought, merely gazing out the car window.

The uncertainty of what awaited her beside the demon-like Edwin tormented her each time.

Antonio glanced at the girl through the rear-view mirror. Although he had only met Emma a couple of times when he visited Edwin at the Zhoa mansion, it was enough to confirm that the woman seated in the backseat was not Emma but someone entirely different.

Physically, they were identical, but Diana's way of speaking, sitting, looking, and behaving was completely distinct from Emma's.

Antonio came up with a question to confirm if she was truly Emma. If the woman in the backseat was Emma, she would answer without any problem. Otherwise, she wouldn't know.

"Miss Wlop, do you remember the day you went to the mansion and caused a scene because Mr. Zhoa didn't invite you to his grandmother's party?" Diana was astonished by Antonio's question as she had no idea what he was talking about.

"No, I don't remember. It was such a long time ago that I've forgotten," Diana replied.

Antonio quickly realized his suspicions were true; the woman in the backseat wasn't Emma. Emma would have responded differently.

"Miss Wlop, you should be less stubborn and not marry Mr. Zhoa. Neither of you love each other. Why go to such extremes and cause more harm to yourselves?" Antonio asked, trying to prevent Edwin and the mysterious girl from the backseat from inflicting more damage on themselves.

Diana glanced at Antonio for a few seconds. She could quickly discern that he was a good man merely trying to prevent two people from causing each other more pain.

"Perhaps Edwin Zhoa's destiny and mine are already predetermined," was all Diana responded before returning her gaze to the car window.

After half an hour, Antonio no longer insisted, he didn't know why the girl had agreed to impersonate Emma at the wedding, but what could he do, he was just a mere servant.

Antonio parked the car in front of the Civil Registry. Where Edwin was already waiting for them. Edwin had brought his car to take Diana back to the mansion after the wedding.

Edwin looked so handsome in the black suit he was wearing that Diana couldn't help but lower her gaze to avoid looking at him.

Edwin, on the other hand, couldn't help but look at the woman in front of him, Diana looked so beautiful in the dress she had chosen for her. It was the same dress Emma had tried on some time ago.

Diana looked like such a beautiful and angelic angel. Diana was so different from the day Emma tried on that same dress, although the two women were identical, there was something that made them so different at the same time.

"Where is the necklace I sent you to wear today?" Edwin's voice sounded quite furious.

Diana raised her gaze again to see the man's black eyes in front of her, and immediately Diana took out the small red box from her purse and handed it to Edwin.

"Mr. Zhoa, here is your gift. Since I don't intend to wear anything you could give me."

Edwin was very surprised by Diana's words, it was impossible for Emma to refuse to wear such a valuable jewel as the diamond necklace he had sent her that morning.

For a moment, Edwin thought that the woman in front of him was indeed not Emma but this Diana person.
