Episode 17

Antonio merely inclined before Edwin as a display of respect. Then he left the office, no longer hearing any further orders from Edwin.

Upon reaching outside, Antonio encountered one of the employees carrying a coffee cup to Edwin's office. Antonio stopped her to carry out one of Edwin's orders.

"Finish delivering the coffee cup to Mr. Edwin's office. Afterward, you must tidy up two rooms. One upstairs, next to Mr. Zhao's room, the room overlooking the garden. The other room will be the one at the back."

"Will they be hiring another maid? If so, I can vacate the room next to the pool. There's no need to send her all the way to the last room," the woman commented unintentionally.

"No, Mr. Edwin wants the last room, the farthest one. So, do as you are told and do not attempt to contradict any order."

"Oh, by the way, the room next to Mr. Zhao's must have all possible luxuries since the guest will be a very special woman," Antonio finished ordering.

The employee simply shrugged and continued walking towards the office. The woman knocked on the door for a couple of seconds, and upon hearing Edwin instruct her to enter, she hurriedly opened the door.

"Good morning, Mr. Zhao. I've brought the coffee cup as every morning," the woman mentioned, walking to Edwin's right side.

Edwin did not bother to respond to the woman's greeting. When the employee was about to leave the office, Edwin unexpectedly looked up.

"Has Antonio given you the instructions?" Edwin asked with seriousness.

The employee stopped and quickly glanced at Edwin, but with her gaze lowered. It was impossible for anyone to dare to look their boss in the eyes. It would be an unforgivable act of disrespect.

"Yes, sir."

"Antonio has given me the instructions I must follow. The room next to yours will be ready by noon, while the room for the employees will take a bit longer to arrange as there are many old furniture pieces to remove," the woman replied under her breath.

Edwin only lowered his gaze once again to continue working. Although he had doubts about who the real Emma was, he would have no consideration for any member of the Wlop family until she proved that the woman had told the truth and she was not Emma, but Diana.

In his eyes, the woman he was about to marry in a few hours was Emma, the woman he despised the most.

"If there's nothing else I can assist you with, sir, I'll retire to finish my duties," the employee commented.

"Take care of just cleaning the room next to mine. The new maid will be in charge of the other room," Edwin finished, with the intention for Diana to clean her own bedroom.

The employee stood bewildered by Edwin's order since it would be quite a torture for one person to clean that room alone.

"Is something wrong?" Edwin asked coldly.

The employee merely shook her head, not daring to utter a single word. After a couple of seconds inside the room, the employee exited, completely surprised by what Edwin had commanded her.

"Is something the matter, Azucena?" one of the employees asked upon seeing Azucena out of sorts.

"Bring two more employees. We will need to clean the room next to Mr. Edwin's before noon. Bring the white silk sheets, the same ones as those in Mr. Edwin's room," Azucena ordered with coldness.

Azucena had only a few hours to clean and make the assigned room look luxurious. But she also wanted to tidy up the new employee's room a bit, as she didn't think it was fair for the new girl to clean something so awful on her own.

"So why do you need two more employees? I'm enough, I'm really good at cleaning the gentlemen's rooms, especially when it comes to caressing fine things," the girl replied bravely.

Azucena was annoyed by the girl's foolish words in front of her. Although Alma was eager to help, she would do it in her own way, not as the girl wished.

"Stop thinking nonsense! If you want to clean things so much, you'll have to clean the last room over there; I want it spotless in less than two hours... Find someone to help you remove all the old and unusable furniture in there"

Azucena turned around and went upstairs, leaving the angry girl behind. Alma also walked to the kitchen to find two more girls who could help her clean the room Azucena had assigned her.

Azucena was not just an ordinary employee; she had been working for the gentlemen for years. Ever since she started, she had been the favored one of Edwin's father, until the day he died. Azucena was the last person who saw him alive.
