The next morning, Diana was the first one to wake up. She hadn't been able to close her eyes all night, feeling extremely nervous about what would happen from now on.
Diana was terrified at the thought of what might happen if Edwin turned out to be Sara's father. Perhaps he would want to take her away. After what had happened the previous night, it was clear that Emma had caused him a lot of pain, and maybe, to seek revenge, he would want to take Sara away from her.
"Good morning, my girl," greeted Aria as she entered the room and saw Diana standing by her small window.
Diana turned to look at her nanny and forced a nervous smile onto her lips. Then she lowered her gaze a bit to see the dress that her nanny was holding in her hands.
"Who swallowed it?" Diana asked with great curiosity, as it was almost impossible for her parents to have bought such a fancy dress for her.
"It was sent in the name of Mr. Zhoa. This is the dress he wishes you to wear for his wedding. He also sent this small box," mentioned Aria as she walked alongside Diana.
For a couple of seconds, Diana looked at the red box that Aria was holding in her hands. The girl was very curious to know what it contained inside.
"Open the box and see what it contains, maybe it's a beautiful diamond. To be honest, the box is very fine and valuable, so it might hold something very precious inside," commented Aria, handing the box to Diana.
Diana held the box tightly, her curiosity piqued about what it contained. But she didn't want to owe anything to Edwin, let alone accept such a valuable piece of jewelry as what was inside that box.
"No," Diana said.
"No, nanny."
"No, I won't accept something valuable from that man. If I want him to know that I am not Emma, I must start proving that I am not her. Besides, I don't want anything that commits me to him in the future," replied Diana, setting the red box aside.
Aria did not agree with Diana's decision to not accept something valuable from Edwin. Since he would be her husband and Sara was his biological daughter, it was only natural that he would give everything to Diana.
"My girl, you must not miss this valuable opportunity. You must be smarter and take everything that man gives you. Plus, if Edwin Zhoa turns out to be Sara's biological father, he should give her and you what your parents have denied you for years."
Diana furrowed her brow as she heard her nanny's words. She was not like Emma or her parents. She would not be seduced by the luxuries Edwin could offer. Besides, if she accepted anything from him, she would have to repay him in some way, and she had no money.
"Don't you understand? I'm not going to accept anything from that man. I don't care about all those jewels he might give me, I don't care about all the money and power he possesses. The only thing that matters to me is my daughter!"
After finishing speaking, Diana took the dress from Aria's hands and pointed towards the exit. Diana didn't want to hear anyone else telling her what she should do.
"Please leave my room," Diana ordered Aria.
Aria didn't want to anger Diana so much, as all she wanted was to somewhat make up for the harm she had caused her when she was a child. Aria just wanted Diana and Sara to have the life that Emma had stolen from them as children.
Meanwhile, at the Zhoa mansion, Edwin finished giving the final instructions to Antonio.
"Mr. Zhoa, if I may ask respectfully, what made you change your mind?" Antonio's question made Edwin turn to look at him.
For a few seconds, Edwin didn't say anything, he simply drank from his glass, savoring the bitter taste of the wine. After finishing, he placed the empty glass beside him.
"Antonio, investigate everything about the two daughters of the distinguished Wlop family. I want to know everything about those two women," ordered Edwin, surprising Antonio.
"Is there something happening that I'm unaware of, Mr. Edwin?"
"No, I just want to be informed about everything related to that cursed family," Edwin replied, but the reality was that he couldn't get what Diana had told him the previous night out of his mind.
"I am not Emma, I am Diana!" Those words Edwin couldn't erase from his head.
Edwin desired to know if there was a possibility that the woman who had been in front of him last night was someone other than Emma, as Diana's gaze was very different from Emma's.
"Very well, sir, as you command. I will thoroughly investigate everything related to the two daughters of the Wlop family."
"By the way, sir, I will later be picking up Miss Vhan from the airport," Antonio mentioned, reminding Edwin of Lorett Vhan's unexpected visit to his mansion.
"That's right, that woman is coming to this mansion, precisely today. Tell one of the maids to prepare two rooms right away. One at the bottom, where all the servants stay. I want the worst room. And the other, you know which one. The most beautiful and luxurious, near my room," Edwin finished ordering.
